Whippin Pole?
Very nice what kind of equipment does he use,,I'd like to know the rig set up sound effects etc. Amp.what kind of guitar is that ???
Hi Michael, I am working on doing a few videos about my setup, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long. And that my friend is a Cole Clark guitar made here in Australia
@@JayHowieMusicOfficial This is what I love about RUclips. Dig around and you find gems. Fabulous take on this song... and, yes, they would have loved it.
@@michaelgallagher3640 Poh. A southern slurring of the last syllables. Po' folks did that when I was a kid so I didn't notice.
Lifetime Allman Bro's fan here. This is really good no lie.
Check out the peach eaters too
Well if you lie you'll be tied too the whipping post
It takes a lot of mustard in your sack to cover this song period. Let alone solo. Awesome job Brother!
He has version with the trio that is good also
NEVER, I REPEAT, NEVER discount your version. You KILLED IT. Duane and the guys would FREAKIN LOVE THIS..... BEST to YOU!
over 50%OF THIS IS THE FUCKING AWESOME GUITAR HE PLAYS , MAN NONE BETTER
You’re the real deal son. Good luck with your career.
15 thumbs down, wished they had even a smidge of his talent. ENVIOUS!!! You kill it on every song I have listened to! Thank you!
Share, share, share the hell out of this guy. Let’s help get his name out there. He is so full of soul and love the growl in his voice. Awesome man!
I clicked on this with low expectations. 15 seconds in, I'm giving you a thumbs up. Nice cover man!
Binge watched Jays vids last week as it was the first time I'd heard him. They're all excellent, great guitarist & singer.
This guy is gold. So much soul in his playing and singing.
Asi es
I met the Allman Brothers in the late 60s when they gave a out door concert at a small bar in Tampa Fl, Named The Wipping Post.
Cool story👍
With Dickey Bett's mom in Bradenton they were often around Tampa, Bradenton, Sarasota. I saw them in Sarasota 1970/71 at Robards arena with Duane. I lived on Highway 41 (Ramblin' Man) You may have heard of the Poindexter Band from Brandeton, that played on Dickie's first solo "Highway Call" album, I used to play with them, harmonica pro 45 years.
I think Duane woudl approve. Very nice job Jay. Any time a blues performance kind of grabs me by the spine it is a good one.
Thanks Jay. I saw Greg and band in Missoula MT right before he passed away. Great job.
Lance
I thing Gregg would too!
Someone sign this guy already. He's way better than most of the so-called artists out there now.
Record Companies suck 🏀’s .......he’s finding an audience .......he will continue to develop....he will be alright....
Grass roots oriented independent artists are where its at these days.
I agree! Musically talented all around, the whole package music like it's supposed to feel 👍🏻
Joe...surely you can offer a heartfelt compliment without lambasting others. Why not stop after the first sentence? Thanks
Sign him for what reason? So they can take 90% of the earnings from all of his songs that people download and play? Music industry is rotting from within. He’s doing his own solo thing which is way for freeing than being stuck with some record company.
Sings it like it would be almost a relief to be tied to the whipping post .
I feel like the soul and spirit of this song has been captured and released upon us .
Yeah, well I’m used to that whipping Post .. Don’t scare me. Don’t like it.. ,, But now I tie my own self up. Bring It
Welp, down another rabbit hole. First time listener, this dude is awesome!
Justice has been served.
How in the world could someone click on to see Whipping Post and then give such a beautiful rendition a thumbs down is beyond me. Way to go, this cover totally rocks, even has a fantastic blazing hot solo on an acoustic. Totally worth watching!
They're probably great musicians themselves who let their jealousy get the best of them. People don't realize just how incredibly hard it is to build an audience on RUclips as an independent musician. This guy is amazing, but also amazingly lucky. I've seen so many musicians who are every bit as amazing with next to no subscribers or views. It's hard not to get bitter and hate on the lucky one's some days.
All that this guy does is original and really grabs you.
OK I got chills. What the hell? Unreal.
First saw watch tower that hooked me !!
Dude...don't sell yrself short. What you did right there was rip out the warm bloody guts of the song and throw it in my face. One voice, one guitar is the real test of a song's worth...I love the A-Bros., but if I could have only one track of this song , it would be yours....keep it up.
Just saw your watchtower video. And now this one. You're a very rare bird. Don't give up, I'll see you at the grammys.
Thanks for taking the time to reply ole chap! My neighbor is from Torquay. Stay well!
Allman Brothers are the greatest American band of all time
Whipping Post on an acoustic solo ! A tall order filled ,great job and love the Cole Clark gitar
One of your best. Up there with my favourite musicians on RUclips.
it's not an Allman Brothers. song..it's Jay Howie song...and it's .....so good.!!!!
OK, ya'll. I've finally gone over the edge of old fartness and down the fricking hill. I wanted to say, "young feller" let grandma iron that backdrop for ya! All that aside. That was an excellent job. One of my favorite songs. Reminds me of my bar hopping days in Odessa, Texas back in the early '80s.
Awww man the soul in the lyric comes through beautifully when you sing it, and the string work is on the money. Nice.
I can't 'like' it, because I love it , brother. Nice work. so genuine.
White background, guitar and mic. Really All you need when you have real talent. Keep up the great job!!!

I must admit I was skeptical until I heard your vocals.
Love it man. You have a new follower.
Awesome rendition my man! I managed a band in 1972 “Kidd” in Akron, OH. This was one of their cover tunes and you just took me back
To days of glory.,,

Very intense; I like it.
Brilliant!
Incredible - great talent and hard work. Keep it coming man! You're inspiring me in my own playing.
Like the tone of the Cole Clark.. I am looking at one that the distributor had at his home. He says he only needs one... He has three. Great rendition there, Jay!! I have been to many Allman Bros concerts, first time in 72! I enjoyed this one more than those who have tried it before. Good job brother...
Definitely grab one if you can. I play the FL-2 model but every single one I have ever played has been amazing
Well done. Good solo cover. I especially like your phrasing and dynamics; palm muting in the verse. Staying within yourself vocally.
Awesome !
Jay you’re the man! Love the jams
