ANSWERING THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS:
YES- Patrick Swayze could it (can't believe I didn't mention it in the review)
NO - I've never seen Dirty Dancing or Sister Act.
Thanks again for 50k - head to my community tab for a really funny edit of the Hot Mess Express :)
That needs to be remedied when it comes to Sister Act!
Yes, we all know Patrick Swayze could get it, that's the point of Patrick Swayze.
Dirty Dancing is another most see movie and for me on a level with Pretty Woman.
Both are a little cheesy and not my cup of tea but they are cult..
plus the last dance scene in Dirty Dancing alone is worth a watch.
You have GOT to see Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze was a trained dancer
My fave movie with Patrick Swayze is Roadhouse. It's also a romantic movie but it's got a different feel with some fighting while also featuring the super-cool actor Sam Elliott.
"James Dalton is a professional "cooler", a specialized bouncer, with a mysterious past who is enticed from his job at a club in New York City by Frank Tilghman to take over security at his club/bar, the Double Deuce, in Jasper, Missouri. Frank plans to invest substantial money into the club to enhance its image, and he needs a first-rate cooler to maintain stability." And yes, there's a girl involved as well. ;)
* Hugs to Beans. Every time I see her she reminds me of my two cats whom I lost in 2020 (one was 17, the other was 20 years old and both got sick... But I had many years with my best friends. I miss them both so much and the memories still hurts but they've finally changed to include the good times and the mutual love/fondness I remember).
“Introduced to Patrick Swayze”.. does that mean you’ve not seen Dirty Dancing or Roadhouse!?! Oh girl!!! Do it!!
And The Outsiders too!
And Point Break!
Dirty Dancing us a must this month
Agreed especially Dirty Dancing
The Outsiders
Fun Fact: Patrick Swayze said he would not make the film if Whoopi wasn’t hired.
That’s a great friend for ya!
And Whoopi was forever grateful for what Swayze did for her. She even thanked him at the Oscars when she won Best Supporting Actress.
Kevin Costner did the same thing with Whitney Houston on The Bodyguard. She wasn't available for the originally scheduled production so Costner told the studio (pretty gutsy) to postpone until they could get Whitney for the part of Rachel Marron. She did a spectacular job. It's one of my favorite films I watch regularly.
she told that story I believe the day after he passed away and couldn't hold back the tears. that one story cemented Patrick as a true gentleman and outstanding human being....and this world is a lesser place without him here.
She was brilliant, he made the right call!
@@karenladd1110 Whoopi is always amazing!
As a grown man, the ending still gets me every. single. time.
To say what you really want, one last time before you leave this world.
Gives me a good cry.
Patrick Swayze's Dirty Dancing is a perfect movie for the Month of Love.
agreed!
ewwwww.
I never, ever liked that movie.
I think because I thoroughly disliked the father.
If I'd been the dad, Patrick Swayze would have been a Ghost.
@@Hiraghm I'm pretty sure you're supposed to dislike the dad
@@MessOfThings I mean.. kind of, but in the end he becomes a good guy.
Roadhouse and Point Break are two other Swayssentials.
Another reason to love Patrick Swayze, he refused to do the movie if they didn't cast Whoopi! They were passing her over for the role thinking people would see Whoopi and not Oda Mae. Patrick went to visit Whoopi, on another movie set, and when she said she would love to do the role if they'd hire her; he stood his ground and wouldn't do the movie unless they cast her. Stand-up guy!!!
Heck there are even 90 minute movies that had so little plot and so much filler that they drag. LOL
I didn't know that. Good for him!
Same didn't know love him
I was looking for this comment! :) Patrick was flabbergasted that they hadn't thought about casting Whoopi, and when he said he wouldn't do it if she wasn't in it, I was like yes, you go Patrick! Lol. Whoopi said in an interview "so I guess I owe my Oscar to Patrick" lol
Patrick was a real one. He is missed
Recommendation: "To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything, Julie Numar." It's Patrick Swayze, John Leguizano, and Wesley Snipes as drag queens traveling across the country in a convertible. It's a brilliant movie. You'll love it.
Plus the deviiiiine Stockard Channing - one of my favorite movies
Absolutely this!
YES!
I watched To Wang Foo with my dad who is 98 years old and I thought he might have a problem with it given the characters being drag queens and my dad being almost a century old but he actually enjoyed it.
YASSSS! So good.
All I ever see is him dancing with Chris Farley. You just can't unsee that.
😆 Great SNL moment
That was one of the funniest SNL skits ever. And, omg, Swayze’s hair in that was hilarious, as well...albeit, unintentionally.😬
Dancing and losing to Chris Farley, lol.
Why would you want to unsee it?
My favorite skit
"I think she really likes the guys in tights"
In joke: Patrick Swayze"s Mom was a ballet teacher, raised him in dance, and he was a professional ballet dancer until his 20s.
That's how he got the Dirty Dancing part, he was a dancer-turned-actor.
You can see his dance background in every single thing he does. He is absolutely beautiful to watch (and hotter than hell, too).
He smoked, too. Never understood how he could dance with decreased lung capacity. I think the smoking is where the pancreatic cancer that eventually killed him, came from.
He was also a Dance Skater. He was Prince Charming in Disney's "Cinderella on Ice". 🤗
he made an exercise video in the 80's called "swayze dancing". my friend owns a vhs copy but she refuses to take it out of the plastic. her and i love swayze. her all-time favorite movie is "ghost". i like "ghost" as well, but as a man, my favorite swayze movies are: "roadhouse", "the outsiders", "point break", and "next of kin". but he is awesome in everything he's done.
Fun fact: Patrick Swayze (BIG star at the time), INSISTED (much arguing with the producers), on Whoopie Goldberg(NOT big at the time), being in this movie! Whoopie went on to win the Oscar for best supporting actress that year for this movie. Check her Oscar speech!🙏🎤🌟
Whoopi was not mega star big but she was on her way...she had done Color Purple
@@Alex-gr8lv she was a pretty big comedian at the time I believe. She starred in a couple of her own movies before Ghost
I was so mad she got the Oscar for that movie! I mean don't get me wrong, she was great and all, but she just played the same type she'd played in every other damn movie she'd been in! She SHOULD have won it for "The Color Purple," where she acted against type AND against genre and was simply PHAENOMENAL! The problem was that she was the lead there and Hollywood hadn't yet given the Best Actress Award to a black woman before! So, they just completely ignored her and waited for the next random big film she had a supporting role in to give her the Oscar, even though she didn't do anything special.
@@pvuccino she was amazing!
when he died, Whoopi was crying & saying
"I have an Oscar because of Patrick Swayze"
Since Patrick Swayze is now on the menu, Dirty Dancing has to go on the need to watch list! Maybe not this month, but you’ll definitely like it.
4:17 Did Y'all wash your hands?
R.I.P. Patrick Swayze !💜
❤❤❤ Swayze! 😢😢😭
Need to watch Roadhouse :D
🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
@@michaelriddick7116 what's it about? I keep meaning to watch Roadhouse but not had a chance to yet
I think Patrick had an operation so he couldn't have kids. Married up to the day he died to an equally talented professional dancer. If talent for good looks, acting and dancing is something you can inherit, then a lot of talent was lost by that decision. So sad if that is the case.
@@amandacogger3075 Patrick Swayze plays a bouncer manager (Cooler) in a small town in a very rough bar.
There is a lot of action, some romance, and it also stars Sam Elliot.
It’s definitely worth a look.
@@adnap definitely something I would give a watch. Thank you for letting me know
"But that's his TV watching chair."
Ashleigh gets it!!!
You a LUCKY man Hubben!
I remember one Father's Day my mom, my sister, and I bought a comfy recliner for Dad. It became his TV watching and eating chair.
Dean Winchester: "Swayze always gets a pass!"
Damn straight, lol!
“I full-on Swayzed that mother!”
“You want your last words to him to be FUCKING Ditto!” I’m sad and crying but laughing my ass off.
Those demon shadows scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid.
I think the fact that they're literally just shadows moving is what's really scary. How did you react to the melting face guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark? I was completely traumatized as a kid.
@@MessOfThings I was a very twisted kid as I loved that bit in Raiders. Lol.
Those demons terrified me as well and Freddie Kruger scared me 😭
I feel like the shadows are still pretty scary- the fact that they make these inhuman sounds and we can't really see them...I don't necessarily believe in concepts like heaven or hell, but I know I would not want those things anywhere near me, dragging me off to the afterlife where I'm going to be tormented by who knows what.
@Ionasku Alexander I guess I wasn't clear about how I meant what we hear in the film, sorry
I can just imagine when she watches dirty dancing the famous phrase will be converted to “Nobody puts Beans in a corner”...also The Outsiders is a must with all those famous actors in their teens
Fun fact: the shirt that Molly is wearing in the police station is the same shirt Sam was wearing at work the day he was late meeting the Japanese clients. It was kept wrinkled, to look like she hadn't washed it so she could feel closer to Sam.
Her closet was actually a passage to another room, used as a magic trick for her introduction. Her sisters in the first scene opened the door to show the "closet" was empty, then closed it, then when it opened again, Whoopi was inside. When Willy Lopez was after her, she ran in to get away through the hidden inside door.
When Whoopi came out of the bank, she was facing the building with the nuns on her left, so it was her left.
This was the first non-comedy Jerry Zucker directed. He directed Ruthless People and Top Secret! and was part of the Zucker-Abrams-Zucker team that was responsible for some of the greatest movie parodies of all time, including Airplane!, Top Secret! and The Naked Gun, all of which should be on your list for eventual viewing.
Top Secret! is one of the best comedies ever! Silly! and Smart! Val Kilmer! Exclamation points!!!
Ruthless People is a great film.
Ruthless People! Great 80s movie! Yes! Ruthless People, Beverly Hills Cop, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Patrick Swayze had died of pancreatic cancer. He was also in "Dirty Dancing" and "Road House", which Peter Griffin references frequently on Family Guy.
A person could not escape the Righteous Brothers when this movie came out.
@@UtopiaTX 😆 I came to mention that scene but you did a better job by providing that clip!
you can't escape righteous brothers reaction videos on youtube these days too.
The song is still called "Replay" in a family friend's house on account of the scene having been rewatched so many times it kind of became a shorthand.
A couple of years earlier the same singer sung I had the time of my life in dirty dancing
There's an episode of community that has one of the teachers flip out because of that song. In fact, that episode has a few 'ghost' references.
One of the most iconic movie love scenes at all times. Ashleigh: "Did y'all wash your hands?" *LOL*
“I’m so MAD at Carl. Get the cat!” 🤣
"To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" - Patrick Swayze probably hardest role and amazing performance.
I would agree with that one so much fun
That's a fun movie. I haven't seen that movie in more than a decade.
Such an awesome movie!!!! ❤
Oh I'm so glad to see someone else make this recommendation 😁
Dirty Dancing is one of Patrick’s best movies.
Though he hated it. 😂
@@ala0578 why did he hate it?
With one of the silliest endings ever.
@@biguy617 Without giving away any spoilers, he thought the writing was beyond awful. He was grateful for the impact on his career, but he hated the movie. It's one of those things that fans just can't imagine. Like Christopher Plummer hating The Sound of Music... which he did.
@@ala0578 I heard he hated how the romance was written. I heard he wished the romance was done differently. I did notice that Hollywood tried to recreate the same magic in other dance movies. Lambada, Dance with Me, Save the last Dance for Me and a couple other dance movies.
"Use the force, Sam' - LMFAO
"Did someone hear that phone ring, because I called it!"
I've never heard that...until today. But I like it..
Patrick died of cancer in 2009, aged 57. Very talented actor, great dancer and a good singer. Lived his life to the Max....
I know. Such a bummer. He died on my birthday 😕
It's been 12 years? Already...? OMG
@@lkf8799 - wow; if you really liked/followed him, that must've made a good day into a not-so-good day. That sucks.
@@ephennell4everThe good thing about being an actor in great movies is that a piece of you lives on. I prefer to celebrate the life rather than the end 😉 Like I miss my grandma more on her birthday or the holidays more than on the anniversary of her death. I want people to be happy when they remember me, not sad. 😊🌸
@@lkf8799 - good attitude. But when my Mom 'goes', that's gonna be a day that's not-so-good, definitely kinda sucky, despite it being true that - as most will probably say - 'she had a good run' ... made it past 85-y.o., was around to see several great-grandchildren born, travelled around the country a fair amount, all that. And as she and and I share a common Faith, I don't view her 'end' as The End. Still gonna be a somewhat sucky day.
When you thought it was a scary movie about the supernatural... but when you get to the pottery scene you realize it's a good Suspense Romance movie 😈
“Did y’all wash your hands?” 😂
Ashleigh may now be inspired to buy a pottery wheel...
For a good cry, It's gotta be "Beaches"
Also another cracking film to watch is "Fried Green Tomatoes at the whistlestop cafe". You will adore both Iam sure.
More crying? My Girl. Hands down.
Love both these two! 90s me watched both more than once and cried every time! 🙂❤
Fried Greens Tomatoes is a classic, love that movie
I read Beaches before it was a movie and still cried my eyes out in a paper towel when I watched the movie.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the best opening reaction ever!!!!! The scream seconds in was amazing 👏🏼
that pottery scene was rated sexiest scene of the whole decade. people were going nuts.
What about that hotel scene from True Lies with Jamie Lee Curtis?
Wasn’t even a rounding error compared to this scene.
...and of course since then it has been parodied numerous times.
What! Why?
There's a parody of it with Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg
Insane fact: GHOST director Jerry Zucker is part of team that made AIRPLANE and NAKED GUN. He wanted to direct something different and found this script.
And then Jerry Zucker did First Knight!
The ending is one of the most beautiful moment in all of cinema. Makes me cry every time.
I still quote this movie on occasion. My go-to's being "Molly, you in danger, girl." And "Damn baby, what'd you do to your hair?"
a good movie can never be too long, and a bad movie can never be too short.
Isn't that the truth!?
I remember being a literal child watching this movie. Mom would cover my eyes for the sex scenes... and there WERE no sex scenes, it turns out. To this day Carl getting skewered by that shard of glass remains one of the most gruesome movie deaths I have ever seen.
I saw this when I was younger too. The scene where the shadows come for Willie scared the bejesus out of me.
"Dirty Dancing" is a must see.
This movie was a pop culture phenomenon when it came out.
Amazing film. Something really cool that whoopi said on a UK show a few years back that the film studio when making ghost didn't want her for the roll she played but patrick told them he would be in the film unless she was in it. The choice for all the actors was perfect
15:14 When you said "This is touching and all, but Carl is coming to slit your throat at 11".....I spit across my computer too! Hahahaha
I almost fell out of my chair 🤣
Me too! I burst out laughing. Lol.
Well Carl did tell Molly that he was coming for her at 11:00.
“You want your last word to him to be DITTO!?!”
I already had tears in my eyes, but that made me laugh so hard, I could barely breathe! I love your reactions!
The film Fried Green Tomatoes will really make you cry.
Are we not going to talk about how hard Ashleigh jumped at that beginning jump-scare.
No. No we are not.
Well deserved too. 🤣
You never said if Patrick Swayze could get it, but judging by how you gulped down your Diet Coke after the sex scene imma take that as a yes
Omg girl when you said “do you remember when people used to stand that close to each other? (Lmao) Me either!” Omg I lost it, I could not stop laughing!!
I truly enjoyed how invested you got in this movie. Precisely the kind of quality content I come here for.
"Use the force, Sam!" "New skill: Unlocked!" 😂
Whoppi won an Oscar for her work on this film ... well deserved. She thanked Patrick Swayze during her acceptance speech.
Other good Swayze films: The Outsiders, Red Dawn (80s version), Dirty Dancing, Roadhouse, Next of Kin, Point Break, To Wong Fu thanks for everything Julie Newmar.
Oh yes, please add The Outsiders and Point Break to the list
That line at the end: "The love inside, you carry it with you..." always makes me cry, and then you see all those people on the other side waiting for him. ❤
The scene that I always but the scene where Whoppee gives the money away always makes me laugh, because all I can think about is Sister Act, which you should definitely watch.
Patrick Swayze - Road House, Dirty Dancing, Point Break, The Outsiders (has EVERY male star from the 80s).
Red Dawn
Every hot male star from the 80's
OUTSIDERS = Classic!
I would absolutely second Road House!
All the movies you mentioned....SHOULD BE REACTED TO....I feel old.
This film won two Academy Awards including Whoopi won for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay. This is one of a few movies I’ e cried watching.
Best Picture nominee too. I love Ghost.
yes I think Most people who enjoy The belief of what happens at end, get Emotional at the Goodbyes at end betw Molly & SAM. I dont know who here has seen RANDON Harvest wth RONALD Coleman in a film from 1942, but that realization at the end with Greer Garson was a 2 hankie at least. Its a long Film but so well done
@@michaelceraso1977 I have seen films like Lawrence of Arabia and Ten Commandments both of which are over 200 minutes long. Also yes the ending is really good. I haven’t seen Random Harvest, but I will add it to the list. One I would recommend with Ronald Coleman is Lost Horizon look for the longest version in existence at 132 minutes, unfortunately the 6 hour long cut no longer exists.
@@jamesmoyner7499 yes I saw the chopped up version of L HOrizon, its a wild story that wont GO today. THe Random H critics say that its goes too long wth Coleman being the one with Amensia not recognizing his True love that long. THE last few scenes are worth the wait imo
@@michaelceraso1977 I just looked it at 125 minutes that isn’t too bad.
"Did somebody hear that phone ring? Because I called it." Ok, that was brilliant. Totes brill.
My grandfather, who was well in his 80s at the time and a retired Baptist minister, was a huge fan of this movie.
He was in no way a movie buff and he usually liked Westerns from the 50s if anything at all but for some reason this movie struck a cord with him and he would watch it at least once a year around the holidays as a special treat.
When "Ghost" was released, I was working at the Dayton Mall Cinnabon which just happened to be next to the cinema. When the movie "Ghost" would let out, I would go and watch the mob of people leaving. I got quite a kick out of watching all the women who would exit the cinema crying. While it was running, it became a running joke to count the crying females. I didn't get around to seeing this until much later. I gotta admit, this is a tear jerker.
Patrick Swayze's best movie... Point Break! (also Keanu Reeves' best move)

Dirty Dancing is another Patrick Swayze must see.
If she didn't think that Swayze could get it in this movie (she later said he could), she will DEFINITELY be saying it in Dirty Dancing.

@kim Dier Hey, it's just personal subjective opinions/preferences :) . I personally prefer Sister Act simply because I prefer lighter movies these days (well, I love horror and dark sci fi as well but they're more like thrill rides).
Gotta add GI Jane to Demi movies
Demi was also very good in the Seventh sign.

Did you know that the song Swayze sings, "I'm Henery the Eighth, I Am," written in 1910, became a number-one hit song on Billboard in 1965 by Herman's Hermits, and was the fastest selling song in history up to that point, AND knocked the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" off the number one spot? The love scene at the beginning, set to Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers, is easily the most famous love scene in movie history! Absolutely iconic.
And one of the, if not the best, songs in the world. Performed live by The Righeous Brothers in, I believe 1965. In case you would like to see it. ruclips.net/video/IYj2hex99gY/видео.html
having some extra time with Beans really helped me with this sad movie, thank you. Beans is an angel and i love Beans, thank you.
One of my favorite Roger Ebert lines - "No bad movie is too short, no good movie is too long."
It's actually: "No good movie is too long and no bad movie is short enough."
As always, enjoyed your reaction. Your random ‘F*** Carl!’ during your summary cracked me the hell up. Hilarious.
I may have found my new favorite reactor 🤣 You're so sweet!

Ashleigh, you're correct. Movie length has nothing to do with it dragging pace-wise.
I'm so glad you get it!

It’s all about emotional investment. I remember a certain space movie that had a million explosions and flashing lights in the big climactic battle scene. I remember thinking that I had never been more bored sitting in a movie theater in my whole life.
Whereas some pretty long movies like the Godfather are a total breeze.
@@marcuscato9083 Emotional investment also has nothing to a movie dragging, pace-wise. Pacing is controlled by editing, both within a scene and between them. Pretty Woman has a lot of scenes that start and end with characters walking before and after all the dialogue and particular action has ended, or shows them performing trivial actions that don't inform their characters, like taking off jackets and going into and out of doors. That causes the movie to drag because nothing is happening in those moments. That slows the pace. You could argue that the emotional investment in other parts that happened before where the viewer is going back over previous actions in their minds entertains them in those dead spaces, but it's not the same. You can be unattached emotionally to a fast-paced movie.
Sooo...you're saying it's not how long it is....it's how good it is???
