Of course, aside from "Thelma and Louise", the must watch for Susan Sarandon is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". Hallow-Beans target there!
For me, the must watch Susan Sarandon films other then Thelma and Louise are The Hunger (1983), The Client (1994), and White Palace (1990) although Bull Durham (1988) was fun too.
yesssss perfect for hallow-beans!
@@scottstewart5784 Bull Durham is one I definitely think Ashleigh would love. Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner and of course the great Tim robbins from " Shawshank redemption. Susan Sarandon was also pretty incredible in "Dead Man walking" with Sean Penn. it's a very dramatic and heavy film, but incredible performances, and a powerful film about faith as well.
@@BolofromAvlis All true - I was making a reference to her character in Rocky Horror, in case people think I would just make that observation.
@@ericschuh7606 For me it's Stepmom (I don't know what year)
"Is Jack Nicholson crazy in this?" Ashleigh, if Jack Nicholson is in a movie, he's crazy.
Chinatown was crazy but Jack wasn’t.
Jack Nicholson doesn't need a movie to be crazy
There’s a rare few where he’s not. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, for example... pretty sure he was faking to avoid jail time. And On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, where he was an unknown and played a cute hippie side character.
easyrider comes to mind
three great actors
two awesome motorbikes

It works so well for Jack. "Good as it Gets" is another great one with a little Jack-craziness. Oscar wins for Jack and Helen Hunt in 1997.
"I don't know who Susan Sarandon is."
Oh, you are going to be sooooo inundated with requests to see Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Well, Ashleigh did comment on the white shirt in the rain, so the movie Sarandon felt she was upstaged by her own nipples does seem a good choice... plus Tim Curry
Thelma & Lousie, hello!!!!!!😁
Cue the requests for Bull Durham, amirite?
@@dadoctah yea that is what I thinking.
The Client (1994)
Ashliegh: "Jesus Christ!"
Everyone: "No. It's the other one, dear..."
The perfect follow up to this is Death Becomes Her with Meryl Streep. It’s another dark comedy with a whimsical twist.
This, please! It's so iconic!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssss!!!!!! Goldie Hawn, Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep!!!! Couldn't eat icing for years after this movie
So funny how Ashleigh kept giving devil references, like "devil went down to Georgia" before she realized who Jack was
😂😂😂

I love that you picked this movie! "Death Becomes Her" with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn has a similar vibe if you liked this one, you'll love that one too!
agree, think she would love Death Becomes her. suggested it a couple of times
Absolutely!!! Such a great movie!!
I love that idea for her to do!
And some other devil/demon related movies would be Rosemary's Baby, Legend, and Devil's Advocate. Any others?
Omg yes!!!
I recently watched it, again. So good.
Apparently it wasn't so much fun to film. Miller had issues with the producers cause this his first Hollywood film and since he brought his Australian friendly attitude to the shoot, the producers thought he was soft and treated him like dirt to the point of threatening to fire him when he finally fought back. But Jack came to his rescue and said "You fire him, you lose me." I always loved Jack for that.
Jack has his ways of getting producers to shut up. I didn’t know about witches of east wick but I know he helped Tim Burton with the pressure from WB for Batman
That's cause in the days (80s-90s) Jack was king. His previous performances from the 60s and 70s made him a star, and Follywood knew not to not listen to his input.
@@airtimehillzone Yeah, he was a man of the people. If he knew a director had talent and a vision, he backed them all the way. He knew how to get what he was worth out of producers. Just like he did with the Joker from Batman when he made that deal he made millions from Batman Returns not even being in the movie.
In fact one of the producers was named John Peters and was such a pain to work with that when Cher was about to get into the bed full of snakes she asked, “which one is John Peters?”
@@heyday451 Too funny! Sounds like Cher..
Ashleigh: "I dont know who Susan Sarandon is..."
Me: *Holds chest & has heart attack*
Ashleigh: "Does Jack Nicholson ever play a normal person?" Jack: Laughs
No, he never plays a normal person, he's not THAT good of an actor. He plays bits of himself in each roll (psychotic, egotistical, messianic, arrogant, sociopathic, with delusions of grandeur, and enough COOL for ten normal men).
To quote from Jack's performance in Batman, "Wait 'til they get a load of ME!"
Define "normal"
He doesn't play a normal person in real life. That's what makes him Jack.
"Is this Alien all over again?" she says as a scene with Veronica Cartwright from Alien plays out.
Veronica Cartwright is the MVP of this movie, she was so game in every scene.
Susan Sarandon completely knocks it out of the park in "Bull Durham" - I would throw my vote in for Ashleigh to watch that one
Practical magic is a must now!
Yes!!!
I was about to make this comment!
Yes! It’s a great book too, and considerably different from the movie.
Ditto!
And possibly The Craft.
You need to follow up with "The Craft" which has a direct reference to it that you'd miss if you've never seen this movie. There are a lot of parallels between the two as well. It's also a great 90's flick.
Oooh yes!! The Craft is one of my favourite movies!
Young skeet ulrich 👌🏻 and powerful women 😄
Probably the closest you’ll come to Jack Nicholson being “normal” in a film is “A Few Good Men”. He does get one of the most memorable speeches in that too.
I agree, in that film he is mostly normal except when he has a fit of anger.
The most "normal" I've seen from Jack Nicholson is a movie called "Five Easy Pieces"
See About Schmidt. That's the closest he's been to normal.
Something's Gotta Give and On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. He is just a guy in both.
He was pretty normal in "The Terror" also, given the circumstances :)
"I couldn't hurt any of you girls. I love you."
"You don't know what love is."
"I could learn. You could teach me. How hard can it be?"
Jack at his best!
"I really don't like seeing people throw up"
Me: Oh you better buckle up for the last half hour.
Yeah. I watched it at 4 and it gave me phobia of puking for the next 25 years lol 🍒
Ashleigh:"Why is this movie not more talked about?" Forgetting the multiple times she almost threw up!
The cherry scenes in this movie is one of those most iconic scenes that you can never forget.
When you said Dolly Parton I instantly thought of "9 to 5"....starring Dolly, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda. This was Dolly in her earlier years when she was dipping her little Tennessee toes into movies. It's also one of those great movies that everyone needs to watch. Working women fighting to survive in a "man's" world basically.
I'd love to see her reaction to this one!
"9 to 5," "Straight Talk," and "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" are all three great Dolly movies. The problem is, I'd imagine that Dolly is one area where Ashleigh's pop culture experience *isn't* lacking :P
Big Business with Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, and All of Me with Lily Tomlin and Steve Martin. Awesome comedies
The Witches of Eastwick is probably my favorite witch movie of all time followed by Practical Magic. It reminds me of my childhood and how my dad loved the scene at the church with Nicholson. I’m so happy Ashleigh had a blast watching it!
Yes, Practical Magic is so good too! I wish they made more movies like this.
For me, it's a tie between The Craft and The Witches of Eastwick.
@@NaeOnYT I love The Craft but I put that more in the teen witch camp than an adult witch movie, I dunno if that makes sense lol?
I requested it for a while, then just figured she'd get to it sometime. It's really good. The novel is very good
This porno reminds you of your childhood?? and an actual wholesome movie like Practical magic??
With your love for Jack and a new affection for Michelle, you should totally watch Wolf for October. I’ve always loved that one.

@@awkwardashleigh Aside from the vomiting, of course. 🤮🤮
Some of my fave Michelle Pfeiffer films are: What Lies Beneath (thriller), Stardust (magic fantasy), Dangerous Minds (drama), and LadyHawke (medieval fantasy)
Check her out in the overlooked "Into The Night" with Jeff Goldblum.
And 'Batman Returns'... best Catwoman ever!
Scarface.. Stardust !!!!
How can you not like The Fabulous Baker Boys?
For me, one of Pfeiffer's best films is "Married To The Mob": "I wanna de-voyce!"
Michelle Pfeiffer is younger in the movie called Ladyhawke, with a young Matthew Broderick and Rutger Hauer that has been recommended 👍
She also plays Catwoman in Batman Returns with Michael Keaton and she kills it! Bonus! Danny Devito is the Penguin. Just saying…
I 💕 Ladyhawke!!!
Love that movie!
Ladyhawke is my comfort film, I can watch it over and over 🖤
The soundtrack is terrible but otherwise such fabulous movie!
If you like this, you would probably enjoy “War of the Roses” or “Death Becomes Her”

I ❤ Death Becomes Her.

Yes to Death becomes her 😊
"Death Becomes Her"!!!
The most normal Jack Nicholson has ever played was "Terms of Endearment,' but have tissues handy (like, "Steel Magnolias" level of tissue).
Yes 👏Yes👏 Yes👏
What about somethings gotta give?
About Schmidt - he was completely normal and brilliant!!
@@elizabethspears1934 excellent movie
'As Good As It Gets' is also a 'normal' performance from Jack, in that he's playing someone who has to figure out how to care about other people besides himself
Susan Sa-RAN-don had her breakthrough role as a young actress in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is the cult classic that defines the term, "cult classic."
It's a movie version of one of the longest-running off-Broadway musical plays of all time, and it's surrealistically brilliant.
You don't have to be stoned to enjoy that film ('cause the music is fantastic), but it does enhance the experience.
Since then, Sarandon has done a number of roles, mostly in dramatic roles but with a fair sprinkling of comedy (including this film).
She is a celebrated actress.
As for Jack Nicholson, this role just qualifies as perfect casting. :)
As for Michelle Pfeiffer, watch her in Grease 2 (that was her breakout role), and as Catwoman in the second Tim Burton Batman film, starring Michael Keaton.
This film was a delightful little surprise when it came out, but all four of the main cast did so many more memorable things that this kinda gets lost in the glare of all those other projects, I think.
It's a fun, fun movie, though. :)
This was a pretty big hit back in the day. I remember being a kid when this came out and people were really excited about the cast because all three female leads were pretty famous actresses with a few really good performances already on their resumes (plus one is Cher, of course), and the male lead was, well, Jack Nicholson. Suffice it to say that all four of them still did some of their best work after this and are all legends these days. All four have been nominated for numerous awards, including Academy Awards multiple times, and won a bunch of them. If I remember correctly, the only one of them who hasn't won at least one Oscar is Michelle Pfeiffer, though she's been nominated several times.
FYI: The blonde singing the national anthem at the beginning of the film, the one you described as "small," is Veronica Cartwright, the other female member of the doomed crew in Alien (1979).
"The Star Spangled Banner" is our national anthem. She was singing "America the Beautiful".

Veronica Cartwright is the voice of Bart Simpson!
@@scottboswell6406 No, that's Nancy Cartwright. Veronica is the sister of Angela, from the Lost in Space TV show and The Sound of Music

Ok now that you have seen Susan Sarandon you NEED to watch Thelma and Louise!
Or for Hallowbeans, your Susan Sarandon options are Rocky Horror Picture Show OR The Hunger.
Hellz yes;The Hunger!
RHPS, Thelma and Louise and Bull Durham for sure...
Yes!!
She's seen Susan before in Rocky Horror, but she (Susan) was quite young, and it might have been a while since Ash saw it.
Mermaids is another good film with Cher and Wynona Rider.
YES, PLEASE!!
Another yes please
Just watched it for the umpteenth time, still a good picture!
I adore that movie and it’s so underrated!
MUST WATCH! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jack Nicholson as the devil has always seemed like perfect casting to me. All you have to see is his Joker from the original Batman movie as proof.
Cher is a terrific actress: if she hadn't been a singer she could totally have made it in Hollywood. Since you love her so much, you NEED to see Mask (1985). As well as Cher's acting you've got Sam Elliott and Eric Stoltz putting in excellent performances, plus a very young Laura Dern, and a great soundtrack. It's also one of the most straight-down-the-line portrayals of bikers ever put to film.
This movie may not be talked about with younger generations but everyone from my generation (X) adore this movie. I am so happy to see someone young appreciate just how awesome this movie is! Your channel is my favorite movie reaction channel. Also, you have such beautiful red hair. My baby (she is 17 but anyway) is a ginger too! Love and light from NC!
I'm Generation X, and I don't "adore" this movie, and never did, nor did I know anyone else who "adored it". It's ok, but it was actually a huge disappointment when it came out. It was the first of the Nicholson "gravitas" performances, the stunt casting. Jack as the Devil, Jack as the Joker, Jack as the evil Marine, Jack as the mob boss, etc. Susan Sarandon was supposed to play the Cher role, and would have been twenty times better. (Cher was dating the producer and had the parts swapped). The script was so-so, the direction way overdone.
Well to each his own. Everyone I know loved it.
@@Cami3941 And it was quite popular too.

Another film with Michelle as a witch “Stardust”

Agreed. And that would introduce Ashleigh to a very young Tim Currey
I think in Ashleigh's last Q&A she talked about Rocky Horror and there was a lot of mixed feelings in the comments because most people were telling her she should see it live instead of just reacting to the movie.
@@2buxaslice Well, this is the time of year theaters start showing it. (Hint, hint, Ashleigh.)

Jack Nicholson is a "niche" actor. However, he does play a semi-normal record mogul in "Something's Gotta Give" with Diane Keaton. You'd love THAT movie as well. He actually cries from a broken heart in it.
His performance in that was one of his all time best for me.
Yeah, he was pretty charming in that one :)
His character in About Schmidt is also a pretty normal guy.
Yes! That one and “As good as it gets” are both great jack Nicholson movies. 🔥🔥❤️❤️
Jack Nicholson was an all-around actor. Nobody played CRAZY better than he did and he did so quite a few times, but he also played NORMAL, or relatively normal in a lot of movies Such as "Five easy pieces"/ The King of Marvin Gardens/ Carnal knowledge/ The last detail/ Chinatown/ One flew over the cuckoo's nest/ The postman always rings twice/ The border/ Terms of endearment/Reds/ Heartburn/Broadcast news/ Ironweed/ The 2 Jakes/ The pledge/ About Schmidt/ The bucket list
Several of said movies are considered classics.
Ashleigh stopping mid-thought to mimmick Jack's tongue movement lmao 🤣
Susan Sarandon- Oscar winner. A selection of her movies: "Rocky horror picture show", "Thelma and Louise", "Lorenzos oil", "The client", "Little women", "Dead man walking," "Stepmom", "Igby goes down", "Alfie", "Romance and cigarettes", "In the valley of Elah", "Enchanted", "The lovely bones."
Michelle Pfeiffer-Three oscar nominations. A selection of her movies:"Scarface", "Dangerous liaisons", " The fabulous Baker boys", "Batman returns", "The age of innocence", "Wolf" (with Jack Nicholson), "Stardust", "The family", "Ant man and the wasp"
They broke through in the 70's and 80's, and had many of their biggest movies in the 90's. Therefore it's probably not so strange you don't know them so well. Still I have to say that these are two of the greatest actresses of the last 40-50 years.
Another great Cher movie is Mermaids starring Winona Rider & a very young Christina Ricci
Fun reaction 😀
I hope to see you watch “Terms of Endearment “ and “Thelma and Louise” someday.
I was going to say there was an Easter Egg in the clown figure moving back and forth when Michelle Pfeiffer was being manipulated since Jack Nicholson was the Joker in Batman. But if so, it was played in advance since this movie released in 1987 and Batman in 1989.
If you like witches, with horror, comedy, romance, etc., then put Practical Magic with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. It could be Halloween, but not necessarily.
Practical magic is so good!
One of the best witch movies out there tbh, and one that doesn’t hinge on the “witchcraft = devil” trope. Plus, we love to see a young Evan Rachel Wood.
Followed by "The Craft" (1996)
That basically became a template for TV shows like "Charmed"
Speaking of Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer and Batman, the scene in Batman Returns (Must Watch!!), is a callback to the scene here when Jack's lying on the bed and makes the pussy remark!
,, do I look like I'm joking 😝
I loved Witches of Eastwick. Cher, Jack, Michelle and Susan…powerhouse cast.
Tak!
10:50 "Is this Alien all over again?" Was that you randomly bringing up the movie Alien purely because of the "something's crawling inside me" line? Or was that you oh-so-casually asserting that you recognize Veronica Cartwright as Lambert from Alien and _not_ stopping to make a big deal out of the fact that you recognized somebody from another thing? Because the latter doesn't really seem like your M.O. Or maybe you subconsciously recognized her, and that plus the line got you thinking about Alien.
Fun fact about Veronica, her sister played Brigitta von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Penny Robinson in Lost In Space.
She's also in Invasion of the Body Snatchers '78 and The Birds
Susan Sarandon was in a 21 year relationship with Tim Robbins who played Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption
Always a fun glossed over fact. George Miller of Mad Max (all of them) directed this.
He also did both Babe movies with the taking pig and Happy Feet with animated dancing penguins.
October suggestion: Mars Attacks! Jack Nicholson plays two roles, and neither if them is anywhere near the craziest thing in the movie.
So glad you loved it! I haven't seen it in some time, I'm inspired to watch it again! Thanks, Ashleigh!
I watched it as a child, and have revisited it some times since. I love all the actors in this movie. I guess it's not talked about because it's "old" - there are so many good movies out there that get "lost" in time. But I'm glad you reacted to it. Now more people will watch it. Cher is so God damn beautiful.
As a Cher lover myself, I recommend her 1985 movie "Mask". You'll see a completely different side of her and really appreciate her acting skills. Even if you don't do a reaction, which I think you SHOULD, you definitely should watch it.
Take care & stay safe!
The John Williams score on this film is the greatest.
Awesome that you liked this one Ashley! I always thought it was underrated as well. The critics at the time of course hated it. But what do they know! lol! Also glad you’re doing Kill Bill 2 next! Can’t wait for Monday!
I totally love this movie, showed to my wife for the first time too. Thelma and Louise is another great Susan Sarandon film and I love Lady Hawk with Michelle Pfeiffer. I glad you loved this film its a great gem.
My favorite Susan Sarandon movie is Bull Durham. Highly recommended, also with Kevin Costner and Tim Robbins.
I love this movie, the cast is perfect, they are all legendary. I have recommendations to get to know each actor better: Prizzi’s Honor(Jack Nicholson), Thelma and Louise(Susan Sarandon), Scarface(Michelle Pfeiffer), Mermaids(Cher).
One to see more of Michelle Pfeiffer, and a good one for Jingle Beans this year; Batman Returns! No spoilers about who she's playing though folks.
Hell YEAAAH!
another great susan sarandon movie is stepmom with her and julia roberts
And i love the witches of Eastwick. I havent watched that film in so long. And its definitely underrated. Its a masterpiece.
"Death Becomes Her" is a must. Love your videos 🖤😺.
Another "witchy" movie (along with "Practical Magic" previously recommended by others):
The Craft
Go to the original, not the recent remake.
Omg yes. I was obsessed with that movie when I was a kid!
Hubbin is right. You have a beautiful singing voice. And that was excellent harmony. :)
Suspect with Cher was great. Also, Silkwood with Meryl Streep and Cher was fantastic. Susan Sarandon was in Rocky Horror Picture show, Thelma and Louise and many more. Michelle was in a lot of movies including the forgotten Grease Part 2 (some people hate it, some people love it)
Fuck yeah, this was a surprise to see you have this movie to review! I absolutely adore this film and you are 100% correct that Witches of Eastwick is NOT talked about more. Everyone did a great job in this film. Also, the Possessed woman who was puking cherries actually played in the first Alien movie!
Yay!! I LOVE that you love this movie!! It's always been one of my favorites and it really isn't one that gets a lot of play. Thank you so much for watching! This was so fun!
re: Jack Nicholson "Is he crazy in this one too?"
🤣 As if you *need* to ask that question...
He's the godfather of crazy character actors.
Now you've got to watch Thelma and Louise with Susan Sarandon and Gina Davis. First movie for Brad Pitt.
"Why is he so good at being creepy?'
Cause he's Jack Freaking Nicholson!
I don’t know why it’s so underrated. A fav since I was way too young to be watching it. Fun to see you love it!
Recently learned the woman that passed spitting up the cherry pits was the same actress that played the little girl in The Birds
Great Reaction, Ashleigh! Watch Mr Jack in the Oscar winning movie ' As Good As It Gets' Jack redeems himself there. A MUST SEE movie. Ask your Momma!
I LOVE CHER! In anything... one of my favorites was "Silkwood" she won a golden globe for that, her first film I believe. And Michelle Pfeiffer in "Dangerous Minds" was my favorite... I'm so glad you liked this movie, your reaction made it so much fun!!
