The tool that I am using is a plastic pry that comes in a set at Harbor Freight. It can be used to remove door panels and anything that a screwdriver might scratch. If your buttons are pushed back and don't sit flush like they should, then the mounting brackets for them are probably broken. Take out the AC vent trim, and check to see if the button brackets are broken on the inside. You can pick up a good used one on ebay for around $20 or so if it needs to be replaced.
I heard you mention that the Cd player was no longer ejecting the discs. I wonder if you were able to fix that once you pulled it out. I have that same issue with mine and want to fix it. Thanks,

No I haven't even tried to get it free yet because I need to hook it back up to power in order to try to get it free. The whole dash is out of the car sill because I needed to put in a new AC evap core

No....I took it in to get fixed and they removed the 5 stuck CD's
