I found it to be a lot easier to bring the gear shift all the back to D1 to remove the ashtray and the radio. Its an extra step but it is a lot easier to work.

You mention that the vehicle won't start if the factory stereo is removed. I am concerned about this as I will be replacing my factory unit with an aftermarket one. Will I have issues with the car starting after this is done? In what way does the car stereo tie into the ignition system? Do ordinary wiring harnesses resolve this issue automatically?

You don't have to take the console out. On my 05 just took the trim around the gear selector and had to pull the gear selector outta park, but you can use the E-brake. Great video!!
my 02 Continental's stereo system stopped working randomly one day. The rest of the car is doing perfect. Just the radio stopped working. The dealership won't even acknowledge there there's an issue with it. Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to where I can start to search for the problem?
In the Video you say the car will not start if the radio is removed... I was thinking about swapping out the Double Din 6-disk with a Single Din that supports Bluetooth streaming and Phone. Should I worry that the car will not start without the OEM radio?

Where is the repair my cousin just drop his car off after a so called mechanic fixed it and the lights in the radio don't come and you hear some form of static in it. I check the fuses and I guess it's the radio but I don't have one to test

Try the "Reset", disconnect and reconnect the battery after 5-10 minutes. This may bring it back to working.
On my lincoln the tweeters only seem to be working the rest arent working something loose probably?
