Bought a ls with the same issue. 1k car. Got it home.. grabbed a water bottle mixed water and gas in the same bottle with a hole in the top.. started the Lincoln and squirted the water and fuel mid down the intake. It's a mis which tells the idle control module to stay shut or not pick up much. Also the check engine light blinks. Trust me. Run that mix down it for one bottle. Then disconnect the battery and wait 10 min. Rehook it up and see what it does. I had to do mine approx 2-3 times and I was driving it for testing... Was mad and turned around.. I was going to give up. As I went into reverse I said whoah. I put it in drive and stuck the gas. Boy oh boy it was all 300hp. Carb build up will cause all kinda of issues. Water fuel mix will clean that in the valves and intake as well as the catalytic converters. Trust and believe me this worked. The mis will be a coil if not more than 1.
I really want to learn from this video, as I own a Lincoln LS, but if this guy is that far off on what car he is actually working on, then who knows what else he's wrong about. The Lincoln LS was produced for model years 2000 - 2006.
The PCM won't let you rev high with the ETC the v8s won't rev very high either, its so you don't over rev it in park or neutral and 2006 was the last year
@2:42 couldn't agree more. Actually had a case a week ago where the main boss at the shop I work at, his truck developed a severe lack of power. Another guy in the shop tried to fix it first. He pulled codes and found a misfire code, which it did run bad, and a MAF code. He looked at data with his scanner and it looked to him like the MAF wasn't working, so he put a new one on and NOTHING changed. The guy decided to punt it to me at that point. The other guy already cleared the codes, so I had to take him at his word as to what codes were originally stored. I looked at scan data while driving, and it led me to check vacuum, which was low. Between that and noticing which cylinders were misfiring, I decided to check exhaust back pressure and found the drivers side cat was clogged.
I have a 2006 LS V8. 2006 is the last year. Production was from 99 to 06. I do have the same question..."What car is he working on and does he really know what hes talking about?
Id go towards fuel pressure or plugged exhaust, if a loaded fuel reassure test is passed, exhaust back pressure is next for me i guess it might be a breathing issue too We are waiting Thank you for these great videos
Gotta love this old school approach, with vacuum first on the list. As you say, it's critical to investigate complex problems in the right order to avoid making the wrong assumptions. Had I not realized the injectors would be shut off, I might have been misled by the computer's attempt to avoid secondary damage of the cat.
Well the first thing should I do is with the VERUS IS check the cylinder contribution and identify the faulty cylinders and then make a deep investigation on those cylinders.
clogged cat ,restricted fuel filter ??or a rag inside a intake manifold in severe case, someone work on it and forgot to take a rag out .my initial guess haha
I have a question I have a 2006 Lincoln LS 3.9 v8 my ac blows cold i one side and hot in the other would the heater cilinoids have anything to do wirh it
LS's ran from 2000 thru 2006 not 2009 as indicated in your opening.

Wow, I like that technique. You should make a video about it.

I was about to say the samething
2006 was the last year Lincoln made these cars…
Mans got a special edition 😂
Also oil leaking where the plugs are down in the cylinder are will cause the same mis. Pull the coil on plug out and just look at the boot.
This guy has given me all kinds of confidence to stay with the automotive program.

Very sharp instructor and diagnostician. Nice video
Another great video.

Last year for the Lincoln LS 3.0 was 2005. What car are you working on?

Correct !

OMG - you're going to make me wait for part 2!?!?Excellent video!!!!!
Great video and thank you for sharing this valuable knowledge.
I wonder if that car is still in "limp-in mode". You mentioned the past mechanic replaced two of the coils for some reason. . . .
Darn. We're gonna have to wait for part 2.
_The suspense is killing me._
FYI they stopped manufacturing the LS in 2006, genius.
Love this Q and A format!! Keep up the great work. Look forward to seeing more videos soon.
0:53 White haired old men forget what year it is and what year cars they drive...Go easy on him, he forgot that the LS wasn't built after 06.
I thought they stopped making the ls in 06?
nice work man! wish I was as good as you. im getting better slowly at this diagnostic stuff
Well the first thing should I do is with the VERUS IS check the cylinder contribution and identify the faulty cylinders and then make a deep investigation on those cylinders.
Funny there is no lincoln ls past 2006.
2006 is the Last of the Blast... LS

09 LS? They stopped making the LS in 2006.
looking for info on a 2002 accelerator cable replacement or trouble shooting
excellent style video duane I'm thinking the next best step would a coil current ramp mark ferraro
clogged cat ,restricted fuel filter ??or a rag inside a intake manifold in severe case, someone work on it and forgot to take a rag out .my initial guess haha
Bruh how you get your hands on an 09 ls?
Lol
I have a question I have a 2006 Lincoln LS 3.9 v8 my ac blows cold i one side and hot in the other would the heater cilinoids have anything to do wirh it
