    I hold on to a 2006 Black on black LS
    I will hold on to it for a Lifetime, it’s almost the New Grand National in my opinion lol
    My LS doesn’t have all the chrome trim nor does it have the wood grain , the car is all Black besides the Lincoln LS logo and the Grille. I have 18” 5 spoke alloy wheels on it.. They are similar to the stock rims.. the in side is all black with Grey carbon fiber.. I have not seen one as clean as mine. Garage kept its whole life.. daily driven at 240,100 miles Strong , I will put something Stronger in it when this is all over lol I don’t think the Lincoln LS body style will ever get old I will forever be a LS owner

    I own a 2005 V8. Love it but she is touchy. One simple thing I recommend: take out that MAF sensor and spray is clean. A good practice is do that when changing the air filter! Mine was giving throttle body errors until I cleaned the MAF. Weird I know.

    I have a 2005 LS Sport V8
    I finally tracked down why I'm losing coolant...
    Mine has a crack right in the water outlet's seam....
    Lincoln needs to recall those plastic water / thermostat outlets!
    Who in their right mind would design a plastic part that handles that amount of high heat and pressure that is defective from the start??
    FYI Jaguar has an aluminum outlet / housing... However it only fits the first generation Lincoln LS 2000 - 2003

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 лет назад +2

      Yes, I was aware of the aluminum JAG water inlet housing, but only few have attempted that fix. In reality a ten year period for plastic parts to fail isn't terrible, thats more reliable than any other system on any GERMAN car, LOL. My friend's 2007 BMW 7 series has a plastic fuel line system (failed too after 10 years) (cost to replace was 4,000).
      In my opinion the very high operating temps of these motors cause early failures of plastic parts, Both of my other normal cars (Honda Civic 1998 EX) and Toyota Prius seem to have lower coolant temps even while in traffic. The lower temps don't ruin parts as quickly.

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 лет назад +1

      In terms of the leaking sunroof on mine I attempted to fix it before and gave up. The problem is that my model is the ULTIMATE EDITION and has factory side curtain airbags (unlike all other models of this car). In order to remove the headliner I would have to be extra careful with the airbags and wiring - that is the issue. So I just sealed the sunroof with a putty like waterproof material and have had no leaks for the last 4 years. Its not silicone and can be removed cleanly any time if I decide to work on it.

    • @ehw1615e
      @ehw1615e 6 лет назад +1

      Thanks.. So you just filled the drain holes around the Sun Roof right? You didn't seal the sunroof from opening right? You can still open / close correct?

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 лет назад +1

      I actually didn't seal the drain holes, they are as they were. I choose to open the sunroof and put a 3 mm plumbers putty liner all around the edges. This basically has worked well, but of course If I open the sunroof it will need to be done again. After reading a lot of online articles about these sunroof issues this was the most practical solution. Prob is that the rubber sunroof liner around the glass itself is not made to be watertight, thats why drain holes are there, if you plug the holes but still allow water to leak it will just leak somewhere else (above the drain holes)..

    I have a 2005 ls 3.9 and myself and Ford dealer can't find my overheating while driving problem. We have found out the water pump has been changed but not sure when but it has a metal impeller not plastic and it checks out fine. Thermostat and housing has been replaced with a oriellys part but only front half. Radiator looks good and the dual stage fan is working. There are no visible leaks now that the housing been replaced and it has been vaccum bled at dealer twice. You have any input on what else to check?

  • @acelakid94
    @acelakid94 6 лет назад +2

    It's funny. I noticed a small drip of water at the top of the a pillar in my '04 a couple of weeks ago and wasn't sure where it was coming from. The sunroof started to struggle (seemed like it's getting caught on something) about a month ago, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.
    I haven't really had any engine issues in the 3 years I've had my LS (I did replace the egr valve and cracked degas bottle though), but the transmission can be a pain in the butt sometimes. Sometimes if you're on the gas, let your foot off, then get back on it to the same position, the car will violently lurch forward. Almost like someone dumping the clutch in a manual car. It also does something similar when it's cold; when coming to a stop, the car will move forward a bit like someone is pushing on the throttle slightly and you have to brake harder to keep it from accelerating.
    People have said the solenoids need replacing, the fluid needs replacing or the computer needs to be reset by disconnecting the battery. Do you have any tips?

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 лет назад +2

      I can tell you that my Lincoln LS has done exactly as you described with the lurching trans (very rarely)(maybe 2-3 times a year) and it has not gotten any worse over time. Unless yours is not drivable I would not recommend any service for it. And btw the trans is sealed you cannot add fluid or check it easily, there is a way to check though.
      Disconnecting the battery and reseting the COMP will not fix that issue, chances are it is the solenoid pack, but it seems to be working fine unless you really punish the car. Even after a few runs in this video with some heavy acceleration the car was fine and no bad shifts came from that.

    • @acelakid94
      @acelakid94 6 лет назад +1

      The tranny is a bit temperamental. It works perfectly if you're driving VERY gently or if you're hooning the car on some backroads/hauling ass on the highway, but in between those extremes, the issues I mentioned before show up. The car has 130k miles on btw. Think I'll take it to a good transmission shop to see if it _is_ the solenoids. The shop would have to replace the fluid anyway after looking inside (right?) so I think it's a good idea. Thanks for the reply.

    Bought the Lincolon LS 2002 brand new.. have owned it all these years.. I have had 3 driver windows replaced, where the window just dropped in the door and did not come up, and one replaced on passenger side.. Motor of auto window breaks. I have currently 74,000 miles on this car, and I have had all 8 coils replaced, CD player replaced, something with the ABS system replaced, yes, batteries replaced. Did all the maintenance on this at the Lincolon dealership.. but the problem I have had for the past 5 years, that no one can fix.. because it has to be doing when you bring the car into the dealership or to a mechanic.. Air conditioner intermittently goes to heat on either side,, maybe passenger, maybe driver side, or maybe both at the same time.. but will gradually blow out cold air again,, off and on.. This problem is a continual problem.. sometimes works, sometimes don't ,, but have to have it blowing hot air to get it diagnosed.. GEE.. I drive the car mainly on Sunday -- my off day, and that day the dealership is closed, but on Monday.. I am too far away from the dealership to have it doing it when I get there... SO, do you know what this problem could be.. It is a phantom problem.. No one actually believes you.. I say, just one hour ago, it was blowing hot air, but then,, it starting blowing the cold air again.. and they look at you, like .. well it needs to be doing it when you bring it in... Exhausted with this,, but hey.. I can live with it.

After couple months of the replacement my car had an issue Bank 2 Too Lean and Misfire cylinder 4,5,6 😪 mechanic guy told me it has bad coils on all 3 and cylinder 4 has no compression 😥 I’m hoping it’s wrong and it’s just a coil pack issue cause I don’t want to spent money on a new engine. Only had her for less than a year. It’s a fun Manual 5 speed car. But anyways he had said when he took out the park plugs from 4,5,6 cylinder 5,6 had oil on it 🤔 even after I got the valve cover replaced. Was I supposed to add silicone around the gasket of the spark plugs ?? I thought since the gasket are new they don’t need Silicone

      Hey man! Sorry to hear all that, you've got your self a pretty rare 5 speed manual model, NICE. I really doubt there is no compression, thats pretty rare. The misfire from the coils is common on the other hand. I really recommend you take the coils out and test them with a voltmeter for continuity and resistance. Make sure they are all the same, then reinstall and use DIELECTRIC grease on the coils. Generally a poor contact will give you a misfire quick. Oil on the spark plugs on the top side is not good either, but there should be a rubber seal there in place already. Mine has never done that. Keep me updated, first check the coils.

      hybrid32494 I’m gonna change the coils on the side of the Misfire 4,5,6 and re do a compression test myself I’m hoping the cylinder 4 still good with compression. I’m wondering if it has to do with my new oxygen sensor I changed all 4 oxygen sensor to Bosch I’ve heard Bosch Nd Ford don’t get along ? But I still end up putting Bosch 😪 imma switch that too since I’m getting “Bank 2 to Lean”
      Denso vs NTK/NGK on Spark Plugs and Oxgen Sensor ?

      Oh yeah, I bought mine New in 02' after a long Deployment overseas. Of course at that time there was nothing else to spend my saved money on. It's an 01'. I put a new engine in back in 13'. I've done all the Parts replacement myself except for the engine and catalytic converters. Starter, Coolant reservoir, struts, control arms, hub assembly's, sway bar links, tie rods inner/outer, breaks/rotors, door handles, window regulators, dash replacements, headliner replacements, sealed the sun roof when it started leaking down into the door, replaced speakers, added chrome to the pillar's, replaced the headlamps front aftermarket, taillamps/salvage yard. I watch these videos over the years, and for the past 4, it's been all reinvesting in my LS. The fact Ive opened it 16 years and it still looks great, plus dropping 4 grand into the engine outside of warranty, I'm just not ready to give up on My Linc! Finally put some big wheels on... Funny because I'm too old for that. Next is the timing chain tensioner and click spring. Really thought your video tells a good story. Preciate it, my man! 💪😐

    • @hybrid32494
      @hybrid32494  6 лет назад +1

      you really love your LS, nice, Me too. I love it so much that I barely drive it to make sure it don't break, LOL. I've owned mine sine 2009, it was 5 years old when I got it. I gotta say it has barely deteriorated at all in the time I've had it. I've seen so many terrible and dirty, ripped ones, nasty. If you take good care and drive normally these cars will last a while. Ofcourse the damn sunroof leaks, and it's got a noise from one of the belt accessories, but whatever. I recently got a 2007 grand marquis, that may have become my new favorite car actually.

    • @josephdudeck5556
      @josephdudeck5556 6 лет назад +1

      Possibly the A solenoid from the transmission, or the Timing chain tensioner I mentioned. I mean, I wouldn't do all this again by choice, but this car is very representative of myself. Been through a lot. Took a lil time and TLC. Looks great, runs good. But just like the everything in my life, I don't just quit, give up or throw away. Obviously it's taken some years of PTS therapy and getting sober. But you are right, I do live my LS... It's been a Life Saver throughout my progress. LS

    • @josephdudeck5556
      @josephdudeck5556 6 лет назад +1

      My daughter wrecked it in 16. So instead of taking the insurance monies, I had the salvage it, spent a ton of time at the salvage yard, front bumper cover, parts here and there, you one of those 90's front bra covers on with the new aftermarket headlamps and side markers. Did some body work myself, and the damn thing looks even better than it did when I bought it in my 20's. I've driven this back and forth to Queens 14 times(wife family), Florida six times (family Condo) and Texas 9 times (military) my ass fits just perfect after all those miles. I will literally run this till the wheels fall off. That ain't happening soon with all the sweat and time I've put back in these past few years. Thanks for posting, thanks for replying. your issue is common, I still have this issue myself. The sunroof drain hoses that run down the front and rear A-pillars are broken or disconnected. IF you take apart the headliner and sun visor you can get to the drain hoses and re-attach them. Otherwise you gotta seal your sunroof to avoid water damage(this was my solution).

      Drop the headliner and inspect the front drain hoses to see if they have come lose also make sure to keep the drip pan in the sunroof clear of debris. On my nephews '04, I had to take a drill and enlarge the drain holes plus add two additional holes in the pan to keep the rain and water out.

      well I wasn't full throttle stepping on the gas, it was just a spirited couple of launches. In reality this car has such good front to rear weight distribution that it hooks up pretty well. In comparison a poorly weight distributed mustang can spin the wheels easily, doesn't mean they r faster overall. Same goes for my grand marquis, ahahah.

      I've had this one since 2009 and the roads here in NYC are horrible. I have not replaced any suspension components at all in the ten years I owned it. Of course I only put on about 13K in this whole timeframe. It rides smooth, and there are zero noises. LOVE THIS CAR!!, Ofcourse my daily is a prius , hahaaha.
