Dont know if you know this but it's pretty hot in alaska during the summer.
Hey scotty my hometown in Montana is the only place that doesn't use road salt or road spray in the winter time everyone has to rely on themselves to get out 😂
HI Scotty, I love and follow your videos almost every day. Just a quick one: How do I buy this car and ship it to Ghana my country?
Thanks in advance
Hi scotty i recently bought a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr for 5200$ has 95k miles. Was 1 owner trade in and still have a warranty has no rust and seems to run great so far was wondering if u think we got a good deal and do the zephyr's have major known issues?
Scotty what do you think if the new wrangler rubicon 392 concept with a V8 6.4L engine?
Scotty be like: I paid for the whole speedometer and now Im gonna use the whole speedometer
Nobody told me that you have to lube a speedometer cable, now my needle broke off and I have to use the fuel guage to see if I'm speeding in my 1973 Cadillac Sedan Deville.

I saw that comment a few days ago. Hmmm..
@@chesucat you see, these cables break once in a while just get another. thx for the tip though will lube the cable in my 1977 Ford Escort (European Ford)
BARTENDER: what'll it be champ?

1/4 might be the minimum. Dunno if 1/8 of the pill will cut it.
🤣 🤣 Gotta love his energy, hilarious, always laughing at his videos.
I had commented about that a couple of years ago, but no one even noticed my comment tho.

Dont drive much, eh?
Nothing wrong with that. I had a 2011 Toyota Tacoma single cab with the 2.7L engine. In 2019 a traded for another Tacoma because I wanted an access cab and 6 cylinders engine to do some towing. If I had bought one like that in the first place, I would still have it.
Oh man good stuff but what problems have you had, if I may ask. I got an 06
Robert Fortier My dad's friend has the 2000-02 version of it, he bought it brand new and he'll probably never get rid of it, it's black and he keeps it in GREAT shape mainly because he barely drives it, I'm thinking about getting one myself
@@phillyeaglesforlife5127 If you do, get an 04-06 they're more reliable and the technology is lit. Make sure to get the perforated seats and the THX.

This old Lincoln LS was one of the best looking cars Lincoln' ever made. It was at that time made to compete with Audi and BMW.
The Cadillac actually if you look into it
Ya. Thats why they sold millions of them in the 24 years theyve been making them....
Ya, right. Uh huh.
I think the Mkz is up there.
The Mark Viii was better
It was to compete against the Cadilliac Catera
This was my first car I purchased back in 07. It's still my favorite care to this day.
$500 for a car that go 160mph without the engine on?! I'm sold 🤣🤣
Lol
It just needs a flux capacitor and it’ll travel back in time twice as fast as a DeLorean!
Drop it off a cliff and you might get 200 mph!
Hahahaha
2:06, that guy is just like....what?
That’s the first time I’ve seen a broken speedo with its needle stuck on the maximum speed instead of 0 mph.
My 69 Chevelle would peg the needle in the winter while making a pretty good whine. Something inside had moisture that would freeze. It would drop down when stopping, but not all the way.
You have to wonder, would Scotty wear a Speedo to the pool?
I've had a lotta $500 cars in my lifetime! One lasted 8 years before I wrecked it. Others didnt make it home! Such is life when you're poor! Ya learn to live without certain "amenities": a/c, stereo, leather, sunroof, power windows, horn, turn signals, tread, brakes....
I've had 11 cars since I got my license in 2013, all under $1000, like you said some last, one made it home and died in my driveway... Wouldn't start next day
Tread lmao
Donell Muniz on the flip side, I choose to drive cars without those amenities so I can continue to amass my wealth. Those are the sacrifices I continue make to enjoy an affluent lifestyle. I believe most Americans flush theirs fortunes on car payments and credit cards, better luck on the next used car.
@@chicanopowers4938 GOOD plan! Dont give a fuxk what people say about your car.!!. If it goes, stops, has a radio and maybe good a/c, it does EVERYTHING the same as a car that you spend a GRAND or more a Month just to show off!!

Loved these Lincoln’s
I always liked the look of those cars. Real timeless.
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT
I had a 2000 and 2001 Lincoln ls with the 5 speed manual transmission. I had great luck with them. They are very reliable for me. It was my favourite car.
Owned two. The V-8's were known for coolant leaks when their plastic parts deteriorated. The thermostat housing and the over flow tank. As did the 2000-2003 plastic timing chain tensioners after 125K or sooner if they didn't use synthetic. So avoid one that has overheated or rattles at start up. The V-6's had fewer problems. Transmission solenoids also went. And coils went, window regulators broke. Front sway bar bushings went. BUT, the body is half aluminum and I haven't seen a rusty one ever, even after 20 years up north. The body is very solid, designed with input from Volvo. I bought a low mileage 2002 V6 auto for a niece and it's needed some suspension work and the window regulators. But I sleep better knowing she's in a solid car. I agree with Scotty, they make good beaters if you find one cheap.
The LS was made when Ford owned Jaguar. The motor is an AJ designated Jaguar engine. It's actually an entry-level Jaguar with a Lincoln body. Parts are cheap from Ford or eBay. You are correct in some of the parts that need changing. Suspension, coils, radiator overflow. I bought an 05 in 09 with 65,000 miles, and I now have 350, ooo miles on it. But the rockers are rusted out, and the rear passenger lower control arm is no longer attached to the underneath. She is retired and under a cover. It will be a parts car. I'm buying another one. Good ones aren't cheap.

Scotty: Jaguars are endless moneypits pieces of garbage
Also Scotty: This Lincoln's V8 engine (Jaguar AJ-V8) can run forever
Jaguar is garbage tough
I've heard the same. My mom had an lsv8 didnt last. You can find countless forums, If you get 120,000 miles out of it you got lucky lol
Most of these I’ve seen have tons of issues and being sold super cheap
This car is a pile of crap. Scotty has lost his mind.
That Lincoln LS was a great car in its day. Many of the technology is still being used (rain sensing wipers, all windows down on key fob, superior sound system). That was one great car that I had and it was fast. With all that being said, it was a Jaguar in disguise.
Scotty: "it's got the big gangsta trunk, you can fill all kinds of stuff in this case..." 😎
I remember I had a 2002 Lincoln LS V8 really clean with the chrome wheels. really fun car and honestly reliable especially since it was a Jaguar engine. I miss it sometimes
Love your vids
A friend of mine had one of these, great car, I loved it. Too bad they didn’t sell more cause there isn’t a ton of these out there
My first car was a four hundred dollar luxury car. I drove it for three years, and I learned a LOT about doing my own repairs.
Scotty totally knows what he's talking about! Many Lincolns have AISIN transmissions, which are reliable and bulletproof.
I’m so satisfied with the fact that this was my first car. Loved it!
Lincoln LS, extremely durable and long lasting motor and transmission, Thanks Scotty.
Thanks to you and your tips I bough a 2011 Rav 4 back in September 2019. Have put more than 50k miles on it and still going flawlessly! Do all the work myself, so easy! So far just fluids and brake job. Thanks Scotty!!!
Wow, you put on 50k miles in 10 months??
@@d47000 same question here z🤣🤣🤣
VRotate Yes. I do rideshare on the side and also have a transportation company. It was the most logical decision. This car is awesome. My only complaints are: A humming noise that comes from the transfer case at around 25 - 35 mph (doing some research I found that it’s quite common), and random rattling noises from all the plastic trim. I got the car with 80k miles, one owner (lady on her 80’s). Body has some scratches and I had to replace both bumpers (she would bump onto things a lot). Mechanical wise, it’s perfect. My next one will be a 4Runner TRD without a doubt.
Forgot to mention I drive mainly highways. I’m expecting to get at least 250k - 300k miles out of it.
@@thegravitxI doubt the car will quit at 300k as long as you maintain it well. The things are built to last. I wouldn't be surprised if you made it past 400, even 500k with mostly highway usage and frequent oil/trans fluid changes. The 4runner TRDs are very cool cars too. If I wasn't a German car guy (aka a masochist) a Toyota would be my next car for sure
Cool Mechanic. Guy has a good sense of humor. ✌️
Whenever you pop up from your trunk, I always worry that you might bump your head. Just be careful! Haha.... nice video as always!
haha i had a couple of those, they require premium fuel I learned that the hard way, when the cats plugged up, honestly i dont think any of them have working ac anymore haha, love your videos!!!!
Scotty quick question. My wife bought a 2015 Kia Forte5. I feel it was a good deal at 12,000 with only 5200 miles. Probably belonged to a snowbird here in Florida. Well I replaced the wipers and I am having sm issue finding one that works correctly on the rear. First one was the wrong fastener, now the second one fits but one end does not press down on the windshield. Is it best to just by OEM at the dealership.
I admire you scooty you are not afraíd to speak your mind your knowledge is great ive been follow you for a about 3 years ive learn a lot since then i just hope you keep this up cars manufacturers dont like what you say its really amasing how mucho you know about cars and i know about cars
I remember my sister bought a late 80's Camry in the early 90's dirt cheap..repaired frame. It ran perfect..so smooth, soft ride. I wonder why I don't still see them on the road?..sure they looked like shoeboxes on wheels...all else about them was great. Again,if you bought one new then..you could say 40 years later its everyday and runs fine. Good deal.

That LS had a 3.9 Jag engine. Mines needed new coils every year
So it's a Jaguar?
@@Arz2003 It's a Ford vehicle still. This is when Ford owned a large stake in Jaguar before selling it and Land Rover to a chinese business. It's a Jaguar engineered engine. The actual Ford V8 found in the F150 and Explorer was the better of the two engines. Lincoln is the ONLY vehicle that got those V8s over the Ford engineered ones.
Same here!!!!!!
I have denso coils, no problem. Maybe try the oem coils in yours, they should last forever.

Been there and done that with the rebuilt engines. I agree, get one that was rebuilt by a reputable shop. Got a “parts” truck with a rebuilt Toyota 22re engine, and as soon as we got it in and started driving it, the head gasket went out and it started overheating.

This is when Ford owned jaguar, the engine and trans are literally jaguar. They weren't reliable and terribly expensive to fix. I feel like at this point you just pump out videos just to do it. @@steelisthemeal Well, somebody had to say it.
This Lincoln ls was known to be unreliable. Why is Scott recommending it??? I just dont understand
He just said the engine and transmission were reliable. What did you think was unreliable about them?
@@manupasquette4116 There’s many other comments by people saying the engine and trans are definitely unreliable in these. That maybe Scotty got it mixed up with another car.
I had a Lincoln LS and these engines are famous for misfires. The ignition coils from Lincoln were crap. Spend at least $200 per month changing spark plugs and ignition coils. Glad to get rid of mine
These are interesting engines. Technically it's a jaguar aj v8. However jaguars used the 4.0 and later 4.2 manufactured in England. Now the Lincoln ls and ford Thunderbird used the 3.9 version of those engines and were assembled in the u.s somewhere. As long as you take care of them and upgrade the timing chain guides to gen 3 if they haven't been already, they're pretty solid. I've seen cars that havent been taken care of the best with 200k miles on them. I currently have an s-type with 70k on it and have dont preventative maintenance to keep the car as my daily
500 bucks for a car that still drives is amazing
Hell, $500 for that? I'd drop the extra grand to fix the A/C for That car! I love the way the LS looks.
But I'd buy a Thunderbird over the Lincoln just because of the interior flaws. Plus the ABS and check engine lights were on and I heard a borked door ajar sensor. I had a 2002 Explorer with that problem that liked to kick off its alarm at random times because it thought someone was opening its doors when literally nothing was even close to it
I drive an 01 LS and this video made me really happy. Non-existent air conditioner, shitty electronics, and leaky doorwells. Drives like a dream and a smooth and nice car.

Meow that's a situation.
My mechanic uncle was considering proposing until his girl said she wanted a camero. Said he’d rather spend his free time doing other things than fixing her car. Get out before the problems start.
Console her by reminding her that the engine may not start, the transmission may not shift, but HEY that Sirius satellite radio still works GREAT, baby!
It could be worse... She didn't buy a Fiat!
Equinox is actually not a bad ride. Only problem i've seen was an 05 had the a/c compressor go out.

Simple fix
Oh yeah it is very simple fix I'm just saying every single one I worked at a used car dealer that love to buy LSS and Thunderbirds every single one of those 3.9 V8 would misfire because the damn coil pack every single one
96-99 taurus sho has the same coil packs. had one an it was a nightmare to figure out which one was bad till the engine threw a code.
Hey Scotty! I’m a teenager looking for a first car, I have about a $2500 budget and am looking at an automatic ‘97 Honda Accord sedan. Reliability is most important to me and I wanted to see what advice you have for me about older Honda’s and if getting an Accord is a good idea.
That’s my said about the ac in my VW, 50 years ago, 2-40.
2 windows, 40 miles an hour.
Did Scotty just curse?
“Half Assedly” 😄😄😄
That’s why we love him 😆
I think he's referring to his old high school buddy, "Half-acid Lee".
News flash, that V8 is not a Ford motor. It's a coil eating Jaguar 3.9 V8 which was also used in the 2002-2005 Thunderbird. Also these LS's are known for all kinds of electrical gremlins (again courtesy of Jaguar) so I personally wouldn't chance owning one. $500 for a cheap, beat up example that runs and drives? Sure, why the hell not? Drive the wheels off of it (or until the electrical gremlins take over and brick your car, whichever comed first)
Exactly. Its one of the most unreliable cars. I don't know why he's recommending this car. It has bad reputation from owners. RUclipsrs can't be trusted sometimes
2003 Lincoln LS V8.
I don't recommend doing what I accidently did but I think I might've driven over 2000 miles with no oil. Didn't check before the trip and waited s month after. Indiana to Miami and back....
Still runs great and did alot better as it held up since after getting some oil. My Chevy Impala from 2003 didn't do so great after getting oil and seized up not long after I put oil in...
Had the '03 V8. It was great when new, but became a money pit right after warranty expired at year 6, only had 50k miles on it. Leaking oil, transmission problems, and spark plugs had to be replaced every 6 months.
