    M/S of hands combing a white wig on a dummy's head, they dip some cotton wool in a jar of red dye and rub it over the strand. L/S of hair stylist Marcel Portman measuring the head of model Pat Marshall for a wig, another lady is stood next to him writing down the measurements, they are in French's salon in Mayfair. Various shots as he measures her head with a tape and gives his assistant the figures. M/S as Marcel takes the book and walks away, his assistant gives Pat a magazine to read. M/S as Marcel shows the measurements to Mr French, David Gwyn Rees and Ivor Hill are working on hair ornaments in the background. Marcel sits down and starts working on the wig which is made from real hair, various shots of Marcel threading the hair into the foundation. M/S of Mr French and his assistant, he is making a feathered hair ornament , he puts some glue on the hat and sticks another feather to it, C/U of his face. Various shots as he pins the feathers on. M/S of Ivor and assistant making an ornament out of tissue paper dipped in solution, C/U of his hands wrapping the tissue paper round the dummy's head.
    M/S of Jennifer Howland wearing the finished feathered hair ornament and Pat Marshall wearing the wig, they are sat round a dinner table with a man, he lights Pat's cigarette. C/U of Pat wearing the big orange wig. C/U of Jennifer in the hair ornament, various shots of the girl's in their wigs. The camera pans up to a C/U of a model bird on the top of Jennifer's wig. C/U of Pat laughing, M/S of her fingernails painted silver. M/S of Isabelle Babinska wearing the white tissue paper ornament, she looks through a pair of opera glasses. M/S as Barbara Mendoza emerges from a front door wearing a very tall feathered hair ornament, the chauffeur opens the car door. M/S as she walks towards it.

      50 pounds in 1958 is equivalent to over 1000 pounds today

    I don't want to do the research, but I am curious what part of the British population really wore these styles. Yes, I enjoy seeing this, but a lot has to be fluff for the movie theaters.

      Not many. Much of these styles were from what I understand very conceptual. Maybe a select few who were perhaps club goers or socialites and most likely on on special evenings.

      It's like the percentage of the population now that has wigs/hats made for special occasions. It's not fluff, these styles really existed. They just would have been worn by very fashionable socialites, not everyday people.

    I hate those dark eyebrows. Now it’s 2022 I think everyone who dark eyebrows I call them A Charley Chaplin look and I hate . Cannot believe this film its so funny
