One critique I would give these amazing videos is that the AI reconstructions make the younger women adopt contemporary female make-up trends (plump lips, bigger eyes, eye liners, etc). This is not what the historical depictions show.
During medieval times they used some make-up to cover blemishes and to let the skin appear lily white, often loaded with lead. They did not use lip stick or lip tints or eye shadow, liner. Instead they plugged the brows to non existence. The focus on beauty has been the enlarged forehead, not eyes or lips. During renaissance they used make-up a lot, eye shadow included but they used more earthen tones and of course cremes and powders for skin whitening. Small pox infections were rampant and skin scars had to be covered.
I love this work! HOWEVER! Many paintings, as you may know, were "prettied" up in order to make these people look younger and healthier than they actually were. These life like depictions make them look better in life, when more than likely the opposite was true. So, I think you are presenting a prettier, younger, healthier version of these people than they would have been in reality!
But how can we know?? 🤣 The only best option one has, is to count on whatever pictures and statues might exist... unless, of course, you happen to have a fine DeLorian in a working condition available?
Point taken ,in fairness portraits were " tweaked up" by the painters anyway to show their subject at their best. We did do this today , photographers remove skin blemishes etc. Of course the exception to this was Oliver Cromwell who said to Samuel Cooper " paint me warts and all"
Well, we heard that some paintings were prettied up, it's true. But we do not know which ones, and to which extent they were prettied up from reality. As such, we can't discard all these paintings as "lies" or so, nor can we quantify the extent of which these edits were pushed. I'd say "Let's trust the approximate closeness of these paintings with the factual reality".
I was thinking the same, painters painted subjects in their "best light", if they painted subjects overly starkly, they'd soon find themselves out of work. Then this AI obviously improves upon that, we can see it. Check that Anna Teresa, she lost almost an entire double chin and has a cleft in the chin they gave her! They are fun to watch, but I have no confidence that everyone in the past was so darned good looking.
Holy shit, thank you sooo much for Sebastian (I thought my request would go unnoticed) ❤ ❤ You have my eternal gratitude. Amazing work as always, your recriations are maybe the best I've seen on yt lately
It's odd, I was coming on here to comment about Casanova in particular. The majority of the people in these recreations seem to be more attractive than they are in their portraits. Casanova is the first one who looks worse. In the painting he has high cheekbones, here he is jowly; His face looks puffy and unkempt and, in the AI version he has a heavy brow ridge and forehead wrinkles. The elder brother of the guy in the portrait perhaps but definitely not the same person!
Unfortunately AI always normalises many distinctive features which alters the individuals and separate them from their portraits. Additionally make up on the women changes the appearance from the original. The law of averages means a small percentage will bear resemblance to the original sitter but overall AI overcooks the representation with programmed parameters.
Die Figuren zu Leben zu wrwecken, finde ich Identischer , u. Realistischer, als ,, schön,, gemalten Bidet u.d Büsten. So haben sie gelebt. einfach etwas Aussagekräftiger. Prima Idee... Bitte mehr davon . .
I love these so much: the subjects, the backgrounds, the music, etc. I have one critique to offer, though. I'm a very fast reader, yet I never seem to have quite enough time to read your descriptions of the historical figures. These mini bios are just as fascinating as the pictures themselves. For future reference, could you give us more time to read and digest the information? Thanks!
The ben Messaoud was astonishing. Won't be long until we see such personages speaking in short films and later, in feature films. Imagine Lincoln actually delivering the Gettsyburg Address, etc.
I love your AI work! The only thing I'm not so happy about is that you make everyone too "good looking" even if the painting isn't so... I would love to see more accuracy because everyone doesn't have to be good looking as there's actual beauty in reality.
I know you never answer to your suscribers, but if you want it tell me which program you used, or if you could help me doing this to my grandparents pictures?
Many thanks for the King Sebastian ( Sebastião) of Portugal , please made also for the follow personage very Important of Portugal : 1- King Henrique 1 , 2- Queen Elisabeth (Isabel) with rose miracle, 3- poet Luis de Camoes, 4 queen leonor of lencastre, it was made queen post mortis ( love story) 5- Navigator Vasco da Gama , and finally, King D Pedro 1 of Brazil 4th of Portugal
This is the first video of the series and I was quite impressed, although the quality of the reconstructions is uneven. I believe the best ones were: Margaret de Valois, Napoleon´s son, better known as the Duke of Reichstadt, Sebastian, the King of Portugal, the Moroccan envoy to the court of Elizabeth I, Marie Mancini, the beautiful niece of Mazarino and (last but not least) Shelley.
Wonderful, would love to see Lady Arabella Stuart who could have been Queen of England, there is a beautiful portrait of her in Glasgow Pollock House 💙
AMAZING CAN U ALSO IF POSSIBLE INCLUDE PHILIPPINES' NAT'L HERO DR. JOSE RIZAL IN ONE OF YOUR VIDS AS WELL AS THE YOUNG GENERAL , GREGORIO DEL PILAR THANKS VERY MUCH...
Magnificent, as customary! I truly adore your work and would like to ask you a favor. Would you please "bring to life" my favorite personas from deep antiquity, for which there are bronze busts and/or mural reliefs in Mesopotamia? They are: - Sargon of Akkad (circa 2361-2279 BCE), the founder of the Akkadian Empire (circa 2350-2150 BCE), - Enheduanna (his daughter) and High Priestess of the Moon God Nanna in Ur (circa 2286-2251 BCE), and - Sennacherib (705-681 BCE) king of Assyria (the Neo-Assyrian Empire 934-612 BCE) BRAVO!
I notice all the reconstructions give the people much darker skins than in the portraits. Is there a reason for this? Tanning was very unpopular historically and was associated with outdoor workers only, never as a status symbol, so I very much doubt they had tanned skin.
I absolutely LOVE when you animate them, talking , gesturing with their hands and arms. Wow!. Pretty darn close!!. But i do agree with other commenters, they need to look more innocent, and less hard. They never knew all we know today. They were definitely more innocent, in some ways!!.
While I enjoy these videos, basically every single person presented is good looking in the AI version. There's no way they were all this attractive. Some of them, yes, but not all of them.
The young Napoleon II is the realest AI I think I have ever seen before. Now just put a voice over and you could have a real conversation. I have used some AI before try to get my 29th Great Grandfather King Henry II to look real. King Henry II was King of England Henry II was also the Duke of Normandy, Count of Anjou, and Duke of Aquitaine. He controlled much of France, including Normandy, Anjou, and Aquitaine. This area was later called the Angevin Empire.
Its awesome! But I think the skin that AI comes up with is darker than the real picture depictions which I think were extremely accurate as nobles and royalty never took the syn and their obsession was to be as fair as possible.
This is amazing, ttuly. But what happens when, and it's weeks or months away, we start seeing live videos of Hitler, Stalin, Mao... God help us.. are we a smart enough planet to cope with this technology?
I can't deny that every video of yours leaves me speechless!
One critique I would give these amazing videos is that the AI reconstructions make the younger women adopt contemporary female make-up trends (plump lips, bigger eyes, eye liners, etc). This is not what the historical depictions show.
Yes. They appear to adjusted to meet courant beauty standards
Yes, they look like modern day women in costume and make up trends of today such as sculpted eyebrows, etc...
I love women

They look more like modern actors

@@TheKim369 It's all a just nice game, nothing beyond that.
I wish you could add a few seconds more to the text before its gone. Love youre video's..
Fabulous. What a handsome chap Shelly was.
Fantastic! I loved that the subjects move their lips, and gesture with their hands. Well done!
Aw, thank you so much for accepting my request about Napoléon II ! All the depictions here are wonderful❤ well done!

Princess Alexandra looks so charming... ❤️❤️
I could watch these videos all day, love them..
Holy shit, thank you sooo much for Sebastian (I thought my request would go unnoticed) ❤ ❤ You have my eternal gratitude. Amazing work as always, your recriations are maybe the best I've seen on yt lately
Great presentation! It seems that people never lived long back then.
Stunning work. Thank you x
Casanova is as close as you can get to real. Nice work!
mouth...not the same

5:31 The standout feature of Anna Mancini are her brown eyes. Its a bit disturbing to see a blue-green color in the AI version.
Just imagining that they once lived and we today see them as if they were eating with us is beautiful and incredible.❤
Exquisite work, by far the best reconstruction and brought-to-life examples I've seen on YT; lovely, Thank you!
I think it’s amazing what you do with Ai. Fantastic.
Lovely work thanks
I love history, especially lesser known. These series are very enjoyable. Please keep up the great work.
Amazing enjoyed thanks
I find all these videos fascinating, great to watch thank you for sharing it with us.
It's amazing to see the notable people throughout history brought back to life using AI!
Unfortunately AI always normalises many distinctive features which alters the individuals and separate them from their portraits. Additionally make up on the women changes the appearance from the original. The law of averages means a small percentage will bear resemblance to the original sitter but overall AI overcooks the representation with programmed parameters.
Better than nothing. Not the first time we’d have an incorrect impression of historical figures.
Agree with both of you! Cheers!
The music is perfect. Mesmerizing.
Very good music!
That was fun! I really enjoy this.

ben Messaoud voted for Biden.

All these people are living with us in this world

When they smile, I get goosebumps
Hervorragende Arbeit und sehr interessant. Nur mit dem Gesundheitszustand der Zähne von damals kommt der Animationsfilm nicht in Einklang.
Something about their unique facial characteristics kinda gets lost with the AI.
I know you never answer to your suscribers, but if you want it tell me which program you used, or if you could help me doing this to my grandparents pictures?
thats what i wanna know but ive found nothing lol
Casanova is adorable!
Love these
Well done and I enjoy watching, however, you seem to make all the women much prettier then their pictures.

These videos are fantastic!

Why do you make the women prettier than their portraits but the men you make uglier than the paintings show them?
AI, not him
Wonderful, would love to see Lady Arabella Stuart who could have been Queen of England, there is a beautiful portrait of her in Glasgow Pollock House 💙
Can you do Isabella of Portugal, Wife of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor?
Impressive.
This is so cool! Could you possibly prompt the AI not to give the women makeup like they would wear today?
Can you do Robbie Burns , and Sir Walter Scott?
Make 1 vedio on indian hestory
Very nice indeed !
would be very nice if you could do Maria Orsic who was a very beautiful woman .

While I enjoy these videos, basically every single person presented is good looking in the AI version. There's no way they were all this attractive. Some of them, yes, but not all of them.
Would you consider bringing to life an image of Toby Riddle?
Wow ! As a French living in Brittany, I can confirm Marguerite of Valois SURE looks like the daughter of a French and a Briton.

Why would you make a Russian empress look like a Latina woman?
Looks like my uncle’s current wife. 😆 And yes, she’s Puerto Rican!
