It's worth noting, Britain had abolished slavery in the United Kingdom, seven years previously in 1807 under Lord Grenville ....,
It's also worth noting that the US outlawed slavery in 1805. Britain 1833 or 37. Well after 1805 British had slaves working sugarcane in Jamaica and all the British isles in the Caribbean. Britain hides they're history, big time. Young idiots change real American history, yet Britain were the colonizers of helpless countries.
Slavery was abolished in 1102 in Britain and 1807 in the colonies.
While slavery may have been abolished on the island the UK sits on, it certainly was not abolished on all the nations they invaded and annexed into the 'UK' and certainly was not in the nations they colonized (including, shocker of shockers here, the Americas). Not only was it not abolished but they enslaved people in many of these regions and they not only enslaved them but they made a huge business of taking them around in their ships and selling them all over the world.
Samuel Rs Slavery was abolished throughout the British empire (with an exemption for the East India company, rectified around a decade later) in 1833

Amongst the first to free America's slaves, Rule Britannia!
Britannia Rule the waves
Check Out cla.umn.edu/ihrc/news-events/other/coolie-trade-19th-century:
"The "coolie trade" refers to the importation of Asian contract laborers (especially Chinese and Indians) under force or deception during the 19th century. It emerged during the "gradual abolition" of slavery in the early 19th century, and coolies were exploited as substitutes for slave labor.
The British were the first to experiment with this infamous form of labor migration when they imported 200 Chinese to Trinidad in 1806, when the British ended the slave trade. By 1838, some 25,000 East Indians had been exported to the new British East African colony of Mauritius. While Indian coolies were mainly transported inside British colonies, 250,000 to 500,000 Chinese coolies were imported from 1847-1874 to various British, French, Dutch and Spanish colonies in the Americas, Africa and Southeast Asia. During this twenty-seven year period, about 125,000 Chinese coolies were sent to Cuba. They were predominantly men from southern China exported via Macao (then a Portuguese colony). Eighty percent or more were sent directly to sugar plantations."
After Britain supposedly banned the slave trade and abolished slavery, well into the 19th century, Britain was carrying on a de facto slave trade.
"Amongst the first to free America's slaves, Rule Britannia!"
If you are referring to the Corps of Colonial Marines which fought in the Chesapeake, consider this:
Admiral Cockburn wanted the slaves he recruited to join the British West Indian Colored Regiments. The freed slaves refused because those regiments were slave regiments. The Beitish recruited the West Indian Colored Regiments to be used in putting down slave revolts in the West Indies. The British Empire did not abolish slavery until 1833. And, as I have said in my previous comment about the coolie trade, Britain was actually rngaged in a de facto slave trade well into the last half of the 19th century.
Yiu do know britain was also the first to have slavery
"Amongst the first to free America's slaves, Rule Britannia!".
Britain was not exactly on the moral high ground here. Britain did encourage US slaves to fight for the British. In the Chesapeake, escaped slaves formed the Corps of Colonial Marines. RADM George Cockburn wanted those slaves to join the British West Indian Colored Regiments. The slaves refused because the West Indian Colored Regiments were slave units, recruited for the purpose of putting down slave revolts in the West Indies. Slavery continued until 1835 in the British Empire.
But then there was the Coolie trade. See cla.umn.edu/ihrc/news-events/other/coolie-trade-19th-century. The Coolie trade was the practice of transporting unskilled laborers from Asia, mainly from India and China, to various places in the World to perform heavy labor under slavery type conditions. Britain was involved in the Coolie trade for years after Britain outlawed the slave trade. To be fair and objective about this, US sea captains were also heavily involved in the Coolie trade. However, the second Opium War Britain fought with China happened not only because Britain wanted to supply China with Opium but also to expand the Coolie trade. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_Wars: The Second Opium War ran from 1856-1860. "During 1856-1860, British forces fought towards legalization of the opium trade, to expand coolie trade,"

And to think, the only reason this wasn’t repeated 187 years later was because a plane was 45 minutes late.
Damn. History really would've repeated itself if that happened.
I doubt they could hit it. Too low.
Obviously, they have forgotten Olympus Has Fallen. I know that documentary is a little intense, but people really need to watch it.
The archived footage is excellent. I also liked their other in-depth analysis in 'London has fallen'.
Ironic that Trump supporters were plotting the same thing..
In fairness, they should have pointed out that Americans had burned Canadian government buildings first.
Who's here after Trump's coup attempt?
Me
Eeehaa 😅😅😅
I am just seeing what mee cousin Major General Robert Ross did, and how much they will admit to, generally the glaze right over Ross, and intentionally don't mention us. If they did they would find so much of their History us, and it pisses them off so they just skip right over who did...
I am bored listening to people calling it a coup , it was a very violent protest that costed the lives of 5 people from both sides . However not even close to a coup , in order to be a coup military needs to be involved not the national guard
Blaming someone falsely is so easy for a blind person
Just a footnote, when the Americans burned the government buildings in York, (now Toronto) Ontario in 1813, which is what led the to the burning of D.C., they engaged in full-scale looting as well. One of the purloined items was the Parliamentary Mace which was not returned to Canada until 1934, 121 years later!
there still have not been some things returned to the Us
We should have kept it
I find it funny that America says it was a stale mate but I looked it up and it said ‘ a secure victory for Britain’
Where did it say that?
A YT video google and safari why?

0:35 "The One Time" ? Well, now you can call it the first time!
They left a important part out as Washington burned later at night a fierce storm blew in. It put out the fires and the winds were so strong that cannons were moved. As a result the British forces were so battered it was decided to leave and cut short their travels.
I’m not British and have no love for the British empire but that’s a powerful move and a clear message
yea no kidding, you have an Irish flag as your profile picture.
British hella strong.. They also burn my country, Malaysia
@Britannia that's not a red hand of Ulster as you can see it's the left hand that's a Fenian thing
@Britannia Red hand. ... This is known as the 'red hand of Ulster' (Irish: Lámh Dhearg Uladh), which is usually shown as a right hand, but is sometimes a left hand, such as in the coats of arms of baronets
@Britannia in an Ulster flag there is no caps between the fingers either
What’s the difference between America and yogurt?
Leave yogurt alone for 200 years and it grows a culture
Dayum 😁
British culture isn’t especially appealing if I do say so myself . Especially the cuisine.
@@aaronbirook4367 Really? Bangers and mash, fish and chips, shepherds pie, roast dinner, full english breakfast, tea. How is that bad cuisine?
@@JJaqn05 How many British restaurants do you see in the worlds major cities? vs say Mexican,Chinese, & Japanese?

Damm, Eliza didn't want the white house to burn
Ahh... now this is quality history here. Long live the empire!
'The British had been interfering with American trade at sea and kidnapping sailors.'
Presumably he means enforcing a blockade against the brutal tyrant Napoleon and recapturing British deserters? Surely he knows enough not to make that mistake, right?
Wow two sides to every story for sure.
Jack Tanton brutal tyrant lol
Do u know basic history? Many of them weren’t real deserters.
Can you mention an event in which Napoleon acted as a "brutal tyrant"?
Of course the Brit would support impressment!
I live close to the Harry S Truman Presidential Library. It has on display old wooden support beams from the East Room floor that are burned and scorched during the 1814 fire. (Apparently, when they rebuilt the White House they tried to salvage as much material as possible.) Under Truman, of course, the White House was completely gutted and remodeled. New steel beams were installed in the 1940's to keep the White House standing for another 200 years. Some of the workmen gave President Truman a few of the burnt beams as a gift to his museum. They're fascinating.

The house is truly beautiful. But I know what he meant when he said it isn’t that large. I’ve visited the White House 8 times. Each visit was as thrilling as the first, but I recall standing in the middle of the cross hall, facing the north doors. As I looked from side to side, I could see the exterior wall of the state dining room, and turning my head to the right, see the exterior wall of the east room. It truly is the people’s house, but a mansion as well. I wish I could see it decorated for the holidays. One thing I’ve always hoped to do, I don’t know if they even still have those tours, but I hear they are magical.
2020: Well, you know..

Whilst the big boys Britain and France were fighting a real war, the USA came running in with a plastic gun - pew pew. "Just one moment Napoleon, my son got out of the crib."

U.S tried to help Napoleon (aka the French Hitler) in the Napoleonic wars. America attempted helping Napoleon throught trade, so Britain had no choice but to intervene in the trade.
+daniel beasley +JC2000 No the British could not make the argument that they had a right to uti possedetis at the treaty table. The subsequent 4 months saw nothing but defeat for the British. Hence their loss.
+daniel beasley *Clears throat* America was not trading with Napoleon, or anyone for that matter. The British not only attacked american merchant ships because of the excuse of the possibility of french trade, that were also kidnapping crew members and forcing them to fight in the war. The US enacted the embargo act, which prevented all trade to and from America, as America only wanted to be neutral. This severely financially hurt america, and the British then started trading with countries previously supplied by america, and it almost started a civil war. Instead, America came to its senses and lifted the embargo act, which the British did not like. They would lose that profit, and began even more fiercely bullying american merchant ships than they had originally, and this, a few years after the lifting of the embargo act, lead to the war of 1812.
If you blame the war on the lifting of the embargo act, you are an utter fool. America should have never let the british tell them who they can and cannot trade with in the first place. All that did was rally America into war with the big bad bully.
The people the British were lifting off of American ships were either Royal Navy deserters or British nationals. The majority weren't even American.
America wanted trade with Napoleon, the tyrant who was flattening continental Europe underfoot. Britain, as the dominant maritime power, had every right to restrict US trade particularly given national survival and the future of the Empire was at stake. The US could have actively sided with Britain following the Monroe Pinkney diplomatic mission to London, and would have benefited from an alliance. The British certainly treated them with less contempt than the French. But Jefferson and Madison's anglophobia got the better of them. The idiots thought they could tell the British what to do with regards to the Oceans-which Britain controlled with an iron fist. They paid for it dearly. This "big bully" nonsense is also funny
+daniel beasley If you go until the end of your logical opinion you must leave United Europe next June...
If you don't you will prove to us you are not so brave you want to tell us !
And the whole syrian immigrants will invade your grey island.....
GO FOR THE BREXIT !!! GO !!!!
Owen Jones If you cannot see there are two different view points here, you are just being stubborn.
The british may have seen their actions as just, but the americans saw them as greedy. They saw the british telling them who not to trade with as the british trying to monopolize the trade in certain regions.
This is the stuff wars are made of :P There are always two sides to every fight, and failing to recognize both of them is willing ignorance.
This is like starving an entire nation to punish a few, which is exactly what it was doing.
Not all merchant ships were trading with france, but any of them caught trading in europe was punished by the british as if they were.
0:38 that didn’t age too well 😐

HELL YEAAAAH !
This was a side quest for the british btw
The irony is the UK taught the US a valuable lesson...we would not be what we are today if we didn't wise up and realize that Europe and European colonization were a very real threat and we better start building a military that could hold it's own...100 years later EVERYONE in Europe knew that even the idea of attacking the US mainland was laughable...even the mighty British Empire knew it would probably lose Canada and it's entire Navy in the process...
To be fair you were born out of British colonization, The British and the Americans were basically the same people fighting family at the time.
@@jason-gf8dg Yeah it was a civil war between citizens of England vs the military and citizens of England.
