- I meet up w/ a new friend (Shawn) who teaches me quite a bit about the Yuba River. As it's my first time there, I'm captivated by both the scenery and the opportunities that exist in the huge expanse of this body of water in northern California. True to its reputation, we find plenty of gold in the seemingly endless gravels along its shoreline, and after what I experience, I must go back someday!

When the water is that slow, you should make a sharper V with the rocks on either side of the sluice box. The box is on a wall of rocks, just move the rocks so it forms a sharp V for faster current.
You should have seen what it looked like before our alterations. Lol ;) Truth be told, I actually worked on trying to set up my sluice longer than I would have liked. Next time, I'll get out there earlier in the day, etc.

The scenery was something else, that’s for sure Rob! I’m glad I could bring a little bit of that to your TV screen there in your neck of the woods. Lol Rest assured, I’ll have to go back to that area in the near future because I had a great time there w/ Shawn while combing through the gravels on the rocky shorelines. I got me a GoldRat sluice with the dream mat and I’ve been wanting to take it to Yuba River.
If you work a portion of the river that's as flat (w/ almost zero drop to work w/) as I did, do yourself a favor. :) You might want to classify your material and make it easier for your sluice to clear out. On the Kern River it's no big deal to dump unclassified materials into a Dream Mat, but when there's little drop, the bigger rocks don't move as easily and it might be more convenient to toss them aside via a classifier as opposed to reaching into your sluice to accomplish that task manually (like I did throughout the video). This is a phenomenon unique to this stretch of the Yuba, so use your judgment accordingly. I'd definitely recommend you check out the Yuba River any time you have the chance! :) Cheers!

Good video! What part of the yuba is that? Not sure if it still looks like that now due to the fires up in the area. My Uncle lost his place due to the fires up there in Berry Creek almost 2 months ago.

So I was looking at the Yuba on Google earth and there’s a lot of river south of a big lake. Is the gold found in the river that flows out,of the lakes? Or do you have to go higher than the lakes?

Definitely, Kurt! That whole area in the northern portion of California is like none other! :) I’m starting to branch out into other areas and pretty soon, I can see myself treading where few others have ventured to explore. There are so many options here in California, from the deserts to the coastlines and to the mountains in between! I intend to capture them all in HD for you guys to enjoy, hopefully on both your screens and maybe even with your own eyes someday. Keep those eyes peeled ‘cause this is just the beginning! Lol Saul, out! ;)
You need to put a classifier on that bucket. You're losing gold dumping all those rocks on your sluice. At least you're out there trying.

You're dumping half that material after the mat as if the point was how fast one can empty a Bucket instead of collecting gold. Puzzling
