  • With a bit tippet and some leader material, you will be able to customize any leader for fly fishing! Now, I just scratch the surface of customizing your dry fly leader for nymphing, streamers and wet flies BUT!! The skies the limit here folks.
    9ft Standard Leader Formula:
    Maxima Chameleon:
    20lbs 0.017" - 48"
    15lbs 0.015" - 16"
    12lbs 0.013 - 7"
    8lbs 0.010" - 7"
Tippet(I use Scientific Anglers Freshwater Trout)
    2X 0.009" - 7"
    4X 0.007" - 21.23"
You can alter this leader all you want to get the desired performance. I wish you the very best on the water.
    Keep er' tight,

Random thought and question. I currently don’t have any tippet rings to make the nymph leader formula you mentioned. I could buy them for sure, but what are your thoughts of using micro swivels where you would the tippet ring? I have used micro swivels for some of my Stillwater setups for fly fishing. Would it serve the same purpose, or is there any problems you see with using that instead?

Oh my, imperial, i thought Canadians had embraced grams already.

HAHA! We are metric BUT!!! Some things are still imperial. In fact, I have built many homes without even one mention of a millimetre in the blueprints! That's Canada eh!

We buy our line on kg line strength for 90% of the world. I just thought, wrongly, that Canada had embraced metric. After all you are 75% french

@@multilecful It is a lot closer to 18% that are French Canadians. Our imperial and metric system war started in 1970 and ended in a split decision in 1985. LOL hope that helps.

Thanks Milan I might have to try out your leader ideas. Something went wrong the other day when I tried to reply to your last video. I'm using Airflo SUPERFLO RIDGE TECH 2.0 UNIVERSAL TAPER on my 5wt and SUPERFLO KG NYMPH INDICATOR on my 7wt. PU line is just far superior in every way to PVC line. Yes I have used Rio Elite Gold, Rio In Touch Salmon/ Steelhead, SCIENTIFIC ANGLERS - AMPLITUDE SMOOTH ANADRO STILLWATER/INDICATOR and several other cheaper lines from them.
Was the extra money worth it absolutely yes. I feel that your line is the most important factor to happiness on the water.

Absolutely it is! I had one heck of a time yesterday on the water. Wind and freezing temps, my SA Mastery Switch line just gave up when I needed it the most! I will definitely look into the Airflo stuff more, around here they are VERY expensive to get into. Thanks for all the great info!

@@greenhornflyhorn I hear you on the cost and locally we don't have a lot of choice. There is only one really good fly shop and its between us. However they can only carry so much and I think they are looking to Drift to a new location. If we should run into each other and our credit is good you would be welcome to give the lines a few casts to see if you liked them. Cheers
