Great video. I am currently "grinding" gold for the copper storage box recipe. Outside of that, I am leaning towards the idea that I don't mind the reduced gold. This is because there really is not much of a game beyond the main story, the bundles, and the home plot. That is enough for a nice cozy mmo that I can play to relax. If the game remains a game for casual players then the grind is just relaxing. If there becomes this rush for end game activities then that will change my attitude.

Ya i was testing them and while they are individually worth a decent amount the number you can get is just not enough compared to tomatoes or corn gold but of course as gold balancing changes this may change in the future

And, I've caught $14k worth of fish in about 2 hours of concentrated fishing. Various baits. But fish (at the moment) are great value if you catch just the regular ones with worms, not even glow worms. If a worm costs 10 gold to buy, you'll get at least double that back with a paltry fish, more with starred, and even more with a rare. A lamprey out of Kalima village river, near where Eshe usually stands, is well over 100 gold. I've hunted down absolutely nothing worth that much with one arrow. Sometimes with hunting you only get one hide. Woohoo!! 13 gold. Yay. Or one fish worth 80 gold. Gee. Hard to decide. But again, there are activities that must be done to support fishing, or hunting, which folk seem to ignore. Like mining and chopping wood for arrows, and repairs. Everything will need repairing after upgrading from the basic tool.

I'm farming but I tend to use potatoes/preserves as I don't cook (can't use the prep station very well). And I HATE the focus nerf they've just recently done! I'm not looking at maximising my gold, I'm happy with what I'm doing atm.

finding the balance of how fast you can progress is complicated, but I think its okay where its at right now, you're able to afford most upgrades as you level, without having to grind too much extra gold. I'd have trouble upgrading my house and so on while leveling though, so I don't think they can nerf gold making that much more before it feels too grindy. I do agree that cooking should be more profitable solo than it currently is, but its also the only content where grouping actually makes sense.

Love this, makes sense, I havent focused on farming too much so this was very insightful! For hunting myself i like to use slowdown arrows rather than iron i find it helps me save time and annoyance of chasing plus I have much more copper rn. :)

Meh. People haven't yet figured out it's actually a fishing game. And end game activity is furniture making and decorating your house. I figured that out within ten minutes of play. It's better faster income, to use basic fishing rod (don't need to repair it) and catch fish (no bait required) for as long as you can bear it, in your home pond and either grill them or sell them. Just for that *beginner seed money.* There's no "fishing hot spot" in the home pond though. With hunting (regardless of "nerfing") you had to improve your bow, mine for copper, chop trees to make arrows. Or......throw a fishing line into your home pond or any fishing body. Your only "expense" will be food. Which, if you cook your fish (2 per fish dish, and improving cooking as you go, no burnt food on the basic outside grill) is much faster cash than hunting ever was. Also, there's no waiting for fish to respawn. No one has just accidently frightened your fish away, like with sternak. No competition for resources. No wasted time. After you've got some spending money, do whatever. But you can catch fish, with worms, worth FAR more than anything you can hunt down, ever. Once you have to repair your fishing rod, time spent supporting it goes up, because mining. But for beginners, unless you need a 13gold hide, catch a fish.

My favorite method is the fisherman's drink, it is perfect for beginners and intermediates, you only need to have the recipe, which is from the first levels of fishing and a couple of campfires, yes, it takes a while to collect the materials, but in an hour you can get it. sixty lotuses and mosses, I usually collect all the fire lilies too I don't know if it's true, but I feel that by collecting them you help to regenerate more lotus and mosses) and between the lilies and the fisherman's drinks, I make between 7k and 10k, together with my potato and tomato farm (potatoes mainly so i dont need to water the tomatoes and pickles don't sell so badly) it's not going so bad for me

As a new Palia player but a veteran WoW plauer, I have to say that the gold nerfs feel WAY too punishing here. New recipes and upgraded tools cost an ABSURD amount of gold for what you can earn in a reasonable time frame without intense grinding. I want to play for fun, but my fun is impeded when I'm constantly running out of money and unable to buy things I need to do hobbies in-game. ☹️

I did mention that if you group up when cooking you could make money either in this video or the previous but solo not really. To gather all the ingredients takes quite a bit of time so already time vs money is going down.
Then the recipes are usually only worth slightly more than the ingredients that go into them.
Just because something is worth a lot of money individually does not mean it is the most you can make time vs money

@@CamwayGaming maybe add solo to your title. Because you do not need to gather many ingredients you only need apple jam and sweet leaves. Everything else you buy from the shop. And because it is split between everyone else cooking you dont need that many either. If your a baker you only need to stand there. Making cakes for 50-60 minutes makes you minimum 45k up to 96k if you put them in glow worm farms. All other recipes i agree do not make money.

I am at work so some rough math It takes roughly 186 minutes for everything just to get the cake made.
The cost + Value of items going into cake is around 602 gold
Cakes are worth if it makes 3 like other recipes then the gold made is 49 to 340
That is a small profit margin.
Assuming the wiki is correct and cakes give 10 glow worms and 27 fert each per 3 cakes made should be 550 in profit
So for 1 hour of cake making would make 36 cakes profit would be about 20k
Now once we include all the active time to get everything needed for 1 hour of cake making we get active hours:
36 Cakes = 4 active hours 20k
4 active hours of just tomatoe farming is 80k gold
hunting/Fishing including prep time
4 hours = 35k gold
passive times not included due to varying based on how many jam makers or worm farms are down .
If you can get into a cake party getting into them is not constant Making it less viable
But if you can and you only have to provide a fraction of the supplies it could become up to 500 gold per cake more profitable so then profits become closer to 37k for 4 hours.
So still less profitable it just feels like more
The number of active hours could be reduced a bit if not providing the berries or jam which would bring it closer to being on par with tomatoes.
I believe I mention in one of the gold videos in this series that cooking is way less profitable than it should be.
the video is also called mid to late game not end game. You need the mid to late game items to cook cake making it an end game way to make money.

​​@@CamwayGamingI mean a bunch of people host cake parties all the time on the discord server. And prepping is pretty easy. The only positions that take a lot of time to prepare for are a starter (quality blueberries have to be grown) and jammers (have to process apples or blueberries). I think theres enough people hosting them for it to be considered a viable option to make money since all of the work is split amongst 14 people. It takes under 30s for a single cake with good coordination.

@@bell5662 It is a way to make gold it is just not consistent and to push the profits up you need quite a few people.
The claim was that its the best and I left it out and my video thumbnail and title are misleading and that it is the fastest way to make gold.
It is not mid or late game it is end game so no it was not left out because its not part of the video title or thumbnail.
The overall time to get prepped find a group and get organized then wait around while the group gets together all has to be included.
Getting into cake make parties is also not consistent.
If you can get into a group and all you have to do is bring sweat leaf or a few bought items then it becomes more profitable. It still takes time to get the gold for those items or to go out and collect them that has to be included Just like when hunting is being tested the time to farm and make arrows has to be included.
Leaving out prep time is misleading.

Good video. I’ve noticed that making celebration cakes makes a lot of quick coins too, but you do have to purchase flour, eggs, milk, and butter. As well as have a stock pile of jam and sweet leaf. Not sure if it’s worth it for times sake but it does make like 1,500 coins just for 3 cakes. What do you think?

Depends what you are aiming for. If your going for min max.

I do not have the numbers on me but I want to say every 3 cakes was like a profit of 600 to 900 gold depending on ingredients if you fed them to the worms
If you can solo make the 3 cakes every 4 to 5 minutes for 1 hour you would come out at 20k profit with 4 hours of game time used to prep get items get the gold for items and making the cake roughly.
If you can manage to get into a cake party of course the profits go up.

Worm Farms the blueprint is obtained by building up your fishing skill. There are regular worm farms and glow worm farms.

Been playing since closed beta, I am level 500+, can you please explain, why you are only lv 10 in fishing and starving in every thing your doing? Starving in mining,(lv 9) starving fishing, starving while hunting (lv 22). You will Level fast if your doing things on a very full tummy. I grind and a can be found gifting away my stuff in chat daily. This past week I made just by selling flint 158K. Eat some food dude, and watch for me and say hi, unless you delete my comment, than too bad. It really is a loss

If you have bene playing since the start you would understand why my hunting is so high. It is because it was the best way to make gold and about the only fun way to make gold. But it has been nerfed. There is no point going beyond level 9 in any skill as level 9 gives you access to everything. And I gathered almost everything i needed by the time my skills hit level 9/10 not to mention this video was made quite some time ago
