I remember thinking every junior high and high school should show this at the start of each new school year. It's heartbreaking.

I really don't care about the critics about Ben Platt's age and the plot of the story. I love this movie! And people like me who HAVEN'T seen the musical version and only watched clips of it, would be happy to watch this movie as well! If you don't like the casts, that's not their problem. They did an amazing job! Although there were some unnecessary parts but the movie was still very amazing and gave a good message!
And NO, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT EVAN'S DISHONESTY AND MAKING A FOOL OUT OF EVERYONE. I'm talking about the message of someone being there for you and that you are never alone in what you are going through. And how a person mind's work, a person who has mental problems. I don't want to say illness because it's something that is EXPECTED to be cured by a doctor that fast.
Evan has severe social anxiety, depression and loneliness. From the part where Evan broke his arm, it was already obvious that he TRIED to kill himself but failed and only broke an arm. Hence the lyric "When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around, do you ever really crash or even make a sound"
Evan's actions are not excusable. Yes, that's true. But also remember that
protagonists aren't perfect. Like a real life human being, anyone is flawed. No one is perfect. No one is good and no bad bone in them. We all have a flaw and that is what makes a human. Whether we are real or fictional. Both shouldn't be expected to be entirely good. Expect a flaw in a lot of them.
I'm just saying. That's all.
All I kept thinking while watching this trailer was.... Man he's a super duper duper super super senior? Dude looks like he is 40 years old playing a high school kid LMAO 😂😆😂😆

@@Celestinewizz - Well, I know high schoolers who look older than Ben Platt does right now.
I mean, go back and look at Ben in _Pitch Perfect._ He was 17 or 18 at the time. He doesn’t look any younger. He is heavier and actually looks older in PP than he does in DEH.
My HS boyfriend who was 17 at the time had a full beard and looked older than Ben in DEH.
my parents won’t let me see it in the cinemas because of covid but they said they’ll buy the film to make up for it and i can watch it projected onto the wall :’)

The music is fantastic, but it's stage fantastic. This should just be a straight up drama, with background music and not singing numbers. I saw the play twice, and I would see it more times for sure, on the stage. I will see the movie at some point, but just my two cents. The casting of Evan looks bad, from the trailer. I realize he is the OG Evan, but he looks WAY too old for the part.

He looks like the damn teacher, not a student. The casting is off but his dad is the producer so I guess it works in his favor.
He was the original actor portraying the character on Broadway, so that's probably why they chose him, but yes, he does look too old for the role.

I know plenty of highschoolers who look older than Bren. Look at the guy when he was in _Pitch Perfect._ He looks older at 18 in PP than he does at 27 in DEH.

This was an amazing movie there were some bit were it got boring but other then that it was a well made emotional movie. I honestly love the movie musical and the musical.
Evreyone is saying this is a bad movie it really isn't it. It may not be great but its not bad. People are complaining about ben platt playing evan hansen. I see no problem with it. Evan if its cause of Ben Platts age it doesn't really matter, what does is only how good the actor was in the role.
I agree that it as amazing, but only in that it was so amazingly bad.

There were things I liked about it. Loved the music, and it's pretty interesting, has some good messages, and has entertaining parts. The thing for me was I'm a very empathetic person, and I found it hard to get past the emotional downfalls he experienced. It left me feeling depressed by the end of it.
because they cut out good for you which was literally the thing that told Evan he was using Connor's death for his own gain and was the thing that kept him from coming off as a complete sociopathic asshole

Yeah, totally disagree with your assessment. It was amazing. Ben was amazing. Everything about the picture was amazing. I did miss the song as they left out, but everything else they did with the storyline was an improvement over the stage production.
