So glad Bobby lived to experience this. And so heartbroken that he died a few months later. What a beautiful person and epic talent.
What people should remember, is that Bill & Bobby were extremely humble and enjoyed the fans like no other. If you have seen their concerts they loved the fans. Someone ask Bobby how many times did you sing unchained melody? He said" every time they asked me". Unchained melody is Bobby Hatfield's forever.
I saw The Righteous Brothers when I was a teenager, I'm 63 now and still enjoy the pictures.
Bobby was not a habitual drug user....Bill said he never witnessed this. His autopsy said he had severe coronary heart disease and included this as a major cause of death affected by the cocaine. Bobby was a family man and dedicated to his kids and wife who had Lupus ....read his Wikipedia for more.

Dittos for everything said previously.... I, too, wish I had had the opportunity to see the Righteous Brothers live. I have been reveling in their music more now than I did in the 60s and 70s.
This the final performance I will always remember, because I never saw another in 2003. For me, this was the last.
Was able to see them live in Denver about 6 months before Bobby passed. Quite an incredible experience. Their long term friendship was so evident; they were able to play off each other. The vocals, too, were incredible. Thank you so very much RB for all the goodness you've shared with us.

If you really wanted to sing like that, you would sing like that . It takes work . After working for years ( it usually doesn't take that long ) I sung "" Unchained Melody "at a wedding , I nailed it I was 69 years old and got nothing but positive feedback

I was fortunate enough to grow up listening to this great music, I played it at home with my kids who also grew up listening to my music and also loved it. Thank you Righteous Brothers for terrific songs, they still get played on a regular basis, you don't grow up to 60's music without it having a lasting effect on you.

Am so glad I got to see them in person when I was 15 at Louisville Ky fairgrounds!! Definitely I was star struck!! They wore light blue suits and were so good looking!! Took pictures but have no idea what happened to them!!! What a great night!!
I agree with the person who commented below that there should be a book about Bobby Hatfield's life: There should be a book about Bobby. Like everyone else, his life wasn't always a picnic but he was a stunning singer and had such a one-in-a-million voice. From what I have read he was reportedly a kind, gentle, loving and generous person despite his flaws. Personally, as a therapist and someone who reads people well, though Bobby was always smiling and joking, I believe he was running from some things that tormented him. Love him.
Maybe so, but he had a great wife and four great kids, who undoubtedly took him out of himself. They all adored him. Look at the website that his kids created to honor him on Facebook. Bobby was one a trillion, and we will never see his like again.

Bobby's wife suffered from Lupus, and he - Bobby - organized Bobby Hatfield's Classic Golf Tournament that gave millions to charities and labs working on R and D for help all those suffering seemingly incurable diseases.
RIP Bobby.

@juvenilehall1979 I was happy to hear Bill mention "Lupe Lu" and thank Moonglow Records, and to hear the response that got from the crowd, because far too many people think their career began with Phil Spector and "Lovin' Feeling". The Moonglow recordings are among their best, especially vocally, and several of those songs became garage band staples.
Thank you for making this point. Their Moonglow Years music is my favorite, and I love their performances of some of those songs on the great Shindig. 🎶✨
I think that listening to Bobby’s song Brother can show how hurt He was by Bill’s decision to leave him down. When interviewed He says he only wanted to rest and live in peace with his familly
Regardless of the drug use which was a big part of the 60s, you have to walk a mile in their shoes before you know how their life ended up that way, and be grateful yours was not lived ,where they were so prevalent and accepted. There was no "Just say no" then.
Like Hendrix and Joplin, The Righteous Brothers, sadly ended their career on a sad note... But regardless of the mistakes they made… Their talent and music will live on forever. Loved them then, and love them still.

Boy, you got that right! Spector didn't want any of his singers in, he was afraid they would find out that they didn't need him. Bobby and Bill also deserve an honorary Grammy.
Bill deserves solo Hall of Fame for his Oscar, Grammies , crossing genres and so forth. After reading the qualifications, Bill certainly qualified both as a Righteous Brother, which he did with Bobby and as a solo.

attended one live concert. I'm 63-years old now, and have been a fan since 1963. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame SPECIFICALLY ASKED Bob and Bill to sing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin." For two gentlemen at the age
of 62-years old .... They came out and nailed it. This is the last "live"
recording I can find of this song - and thanks to RUclips for keeping
it up so all of the new music fans can enjoy it. it. Roger C.

@@kathlelan I wish I knew the real story between him and Bill. From everything I have watched and read, he loved working with Bill and invited him to join in family celebrations, but according to Bill he was distant and did not want him to be involved out of the workplace. I just don't get it. But no matter, I love Bobby, always will, no matter what flaws he might have had.
@@nelitasciretta7101 I watched the video on YT where Bobby's daughter (and his son Dustin) are accepting an award for their dad in Orange County, CA. In it, Vallyn refers to Bill as "Uncle Bill". Doesn't sound like they were estranged. That video is (I think from 2014 or so). OCE award? Oh, by the way, there are all sorts of videos and articles on Google claiming that someone named Dustin Hatfield, supposedly Bobby's son, was accused of murdering his girlfriend and I don't see any way that that man could be Bobby's son. He doesn't look like his son Dustin, is covered in tattoos, is from the Midwest, lives in squalor and his age is all wrong. If people on YT and Google are promoting this guy as Bobby's son and he isn't then the family should sue someone about it. Just sayin'.
@@kathlelan I agree. And I have seen the video you are talking about, but in one of his interview videos, he says that Bobby did not want to socialize away from work. Strange... I also agree about his son, that is not his son, I'm surprised that whoever is promoting that has not been sued already!
@@nelitasciretta7101Yes, relationships can be very complicated and this seems to be more true in the entertainment business. We'll never know the real stories and truth about Bobby and Bill. And, let's face it, Bill would never have been the success he was without Bobby's talent. Oh dear. We could go on forever but Bobby is gone. Now a woman claims that she is Bob's illegitimate daughter given up for adoption in 1959. Wrote a book about it. I'm not too thrilled with her doing that since Bobby is deceased and she sort of forced herself on his family. If he was alive and gave her permission to write a book it would be a different story. But putting that into the public domain to make herself famous? No, not nice.

I’m sad to hear somme bad coments on Bill ‘ s book about Bobby. The fact is that their frindship last until his death, and no doubts that Bill wouldn’t be so famous without Bobby’s Charisma. And sometimes I look his Fb page and it doesn’t give him the Credit He deserves as an artist , a singer and spetacular performer. And Maybe if He was left to impose his energetic personality He would gone much further. In his first vídeos He was really enjoying and happy, teasing Bill, what a diferent posture from when they begin to be famous. With a dynamic duo they wouldn’t be kicked out of stage by the Beatles in their joint tour !!

Yes, i noticed the similarity with Pesci voice. Sadly Bobby was brutally attacked in late 1988 outside the Hop, that left him with every bone in his face broken and having to need several painful surgeries. I believe, this caused his voice to change.
I didn't know that happened to Bobby I just thought his voice changed because of the singing he had been doing over the years.
Thank you, Jakey. I just asked about that in another comments column, and then I read yours. In some of his pictures there seemed to be some traces of scarring, also some minute changes around his eyes. But he was as handsome as ever and I miss his beautiful voice.
@@dawnaberry8452 i heard that Bobby (doing a good deed) had tried to stop a bartender who worked at The Hop from drink driving and the drunk guy viciously turned on Bobby.
Bobby passed 8 months after this in November 1963, and NOT from a cocaine overdose.

I think I know....from Oct 1994-April 1995 I lived with "Linda" who rented a room to me while I was going to Fullerton Jr. College in CA. She lived alone in a mobile home park in Huntington Beach. She LOVED her vodka!!!! I even had to watch her grandchildren one day because she was so drunk she couldn't.
Did Linda had grandchildren back in 1994 to 1995 during the time you stayed with her? Why was she living alone back then when she was still married to Bobby? Just wondering.
@@jakeywilliams I don't know about grandkids, but he was married to Linda until he died. She died a few years later. She had battled Lupus for years, and later, cancer. So lets get some facts straight before we are critical of them. We don't know what others are going through. Right, Miss fblancelot?
@@dawnaberry8452 I'm english so we're sarcastic. 😉 i was responding to her nutty deranged comment about mrs hatfield and i do know very well mr and mrs hatfield was married until his sad death in 2003. Mrs hatfield children would have been about 11 or 13 years in 1995 so i highly doubt nutty fblancelot babysat Hatfields grandchildren unless their little kids had babies! 😄

Bobby has at least one grandson, by Bobby Jr. And I believe the problems with his voice come from the attack by two thugs. He was in the hospital for a long time, he required a lot of surgeries on his face. As for Linda,, she adored Bobby. Her illnesses were so debilitating, and Bobby took care of her. I know what cancer can do to a person. And she had suffered from Lupus for years. For the the past ten years I have watched my son die from a rare blood cancer, and he went to the Lord on Dec. 3rd. So I suppose I 'm a bit sensitive. Love you Brits!

Yes, i heard Bobby had a solid marriage and that he cared for his wife during all her years of illnesses. From what i read, he truly loved his wife. So sorry about your son Dawna.
