oh, nice. i think the only reason this doesn't look that good is because the waviness of the water is made from texture noise. maybe do geometry noise and it'll look better. but thanks for the reminder on how to enable caustics. i need to make a damn reminder list for stuff on this software. so much stuff to remember :\
mine did the same thing! I was able to get around this by going into the modifier panel under the light and scrolling down to mental ray Indirect Illumination. I switched to manual settings and basically put in the same info that i put in the render settings. Just play with that a little. Im VERY new to this so someone could have a way easier explanation, but it worked for me!
Yes I found the setting were very different for 2016 max. I also ended up working out my settings and it worked out unreal. Thats one way we learn this stuff I suppose.

as soon as I turn on caustics the room renders all white. Im using 2016 max. Any ideas to help me out.
