Ken is the BEST teacher. I've had a few...because of covid I had to take 2 years off. So I'm starting over from zero. But this time I have confidence because Ken tought me once am eager to get started again. Thanks for everything Ken?
Ken, I am always amazed at vocalist Brad Delp from Boston. That song is the reason I bought their album years ago and then continued following Boston. Your rendition is pretty much spot on and your insight is great. Love the way you can break a song down to it's basic components, teach it, and put it back together. I always wished I had the voice for that high pitch.
Always loved Boston Ken brad is such a great singer awesome demonstrations Ken you and your students sing these cover songs great love more than a feeling Ken your rock and sing great your the master at demonstrations on how to sing like brad and Boston you sing it great and rock at it man love how you demonstrate and walk is through these processes awesome band awesome song 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You sure don't hear vocals like that in modern music...sadly. I was expecting this to sound more like Ken Tamplin singing Brad Delp, but if I were to close my eyes and listen to this I might be lead to believe it really was Delp singing. Great job, man!
Ken, if you check out Brad's live singing performances when he wasn't with Boston, singing in small venues, you will hear a much different Brad Delp. He sang very chesty, very powerfully live. Check out his "Oh Darling" cover when he had the Beatles' Tribute band. He also has some Blues vocals demonstating a much thicker, punchier sound. He's one of my all-time favorites as well. I studied his voice a lot.
Incredible Brad Delp.💫👑 Incredible Boston.💫👑 Incredibly good song.💫👑 Big music history for all time. Well done Ken for a very good interpretation.💫👑 Thank you so much. Rock on🤘🎶🎤👍💫
Bravo Ken!You absolutely nailed it on "More Than A Feeling".Somewhere,Brad Delp is looking down and has a huge smile on his face and is happily applauding your rendition of his timeless song.If you ever record another CD for sale Ken,this song has to be on it!You never cease to impress me with your vocal range, you are so blessed with your God given ability of song.I am also massively impressed with your teaching abilities and the way that you professionally break things down so simple that even a beginner vocalist can easily understand.May God continue to richly bless you and I look forward to someday singing with you in God's choir in Heaven,Ken.Take care and keep on rocking!
This thing is a beast. That big, round, golden tone is almost impossible to replicate unless you're built like Brad. As much as I loved Fran, David and other Boston singers....it was still vastly different when they sang it.
2 thumbs-up!!!!!!!! This song is so underrated!!!!!!! Thank you agian for breaking this song down and showing us just what it takes to sing this one, not easy!!!!!! Take care, your friend from Nebraska
Hi Ken, Your work is amazing, Your channel was recommended randomly to me even though I wasn't 100% looking for a singing coach, (Technology is so sneaky), I mean I thought about it but, dismissed the thought and then you happened on my feed. Anywho. I did watch one of your videos back on December 27, which was very informative, and nothing I've ever been subjected to even with the sham of a music teacher available in my third-world country environment. It blew my mind that you could teach someone to extend their vocal range, note so effortlessly, achieve a smooth higher pitch, etc, etc. And as awesome as that tutorial was, I figured I'm past the learning curve. A month and some later, I am feeling inspired and your videos keep popping up on my feed so here's my honest plea to you. Yikes "sooooooo , when I was younger I could easily sing the song "O Holy Night" my favorite holiday song, By Mariah Carey among many of her other chart-toppers easily without training and hitting those exquisite peaks angelic highs, I believe they are called falsettos, I may be wrong. Fast forward 25 years later (not treating my vocal cords with respect) I've found that I can still carry a note and excel at many of her songs, except the song I treasure most, O Holy Night. What do you recommend? I am willing to give up listening to anything she sang after the year 1998 unless it relates to her original essence. I just want to be able to hit those notes smoothly and easily as I did before. It's a bit of an embarrassment when it becomes a squeak or cuts off in the middle of hitting the whistle. I hope I'm not coming off as a douche. I really just want my vocal range back. Any and all advice would be appreciated.
Wow, I'm fascinated by this topic of breaking down the vocals on a song and explaining in detail how it was performed, vocal techniques used and then to listen to you sing it, just tremendous. 🤘
I just love Ken's videos. I have said before here, I can't sing but always wanted to. I have learned more about music, watching Ken's videos, as he has a talent for teaching.
My favorite song in the world (even tho RUSH is my favorite band). Thanks for this walk-through... Brad is just at another level in terms of tone and precision, but still like a soul-singer in a rock format. I don't think he hit the 'g' in 'feelinnn' and 'dreaminnnn' which changes how those phrases end in the chorus... I think you'd need to talk to John Boylan, who actually re-recorded and mixed the vocals from the first album (vs. the following releases which were just about all done in Tom's basement). I used to do abit of contract work for these guys, so I'm a total nerd on how the demos were made (which are on RUclips), the albums, Brad's other projects, etc. 🙂🙃
WOW!! You really did great, Ken!! Unreal!! I've never understood female singers who seem to belt out of their heads. I'm a woman and I have trouble singing loud on high notes. I try to be like Linda Ronstadt but I just can't manage it.
That was me a couple of years ago. Get yourself a good vocal coach and get started! If you put yourself into it and train you can get there. But I strongly recommend finding a good vocal coach that can help you learning the basics and the right technique 🙂
Oh wow, not sure if you remember but just a day or two ago I commented on your cover of this song, remarking on the insanely long note at the end and wondering how you did it! Talk about great, coincidental timing. Thanks for the in depth answer!
What a thrill it would be to work with you Ken! Could you p!ease come to Ecuador where I live?!😘This is a super challenging male vocal and great study piece and you most definitely rocked it! One of my all time favs that always delivers chills. Thank you for all of your amazing instruction and talent.
GREAT video Ken You just taught me somethng i didnt know i did the whole soft singing instead of belting it in the soft parts and wow what a difference you have a packed vid of info here Thank you so much for sharing these gems w us it is so appreciated You are by FAR THEE best vocal coach here online i have ever known
SO SHWEEEETTT...much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO.[the music worldwide} and oo weeee Brad Delp ONE of the best and the new guy is GREAT TOO..!! and great job!
So much to learn here. I appreciate the info on holding a note longer. I have figured out that words like “way”, are a lot easier to hold based upon how to sing it. E, I, A, are much easy to compress (which I find a great description) vrs. The O, or Ah. You killed it Ken! Well done. I have always thought that the guitar took over the note but you have corrected me. Boston, when they came on the scene, was one of a handful of my go to rock bands. Thanks.
Ken, you have absolutely amazed me and my husband with your vocals! We enjoy going back through your videos and finding songs we love with your vocals, they amaze me. You are the ONLY vocal coach I have subscribed to. (The others bore me because they don't produce videos of their own vocals.) If and when you have time, I would love to hear you sing Nazareth's Hair of the Dog, Love Hurts, or my personal favorite, Miss Misery. I named my '88 Iroc Z after that song lol. I will definitely be listening! I'm a Billy Squire fan also, love hearing you sing Lonely Is The Night. Thank you for hours of enjoyment listening to your spectacular voice! 💜
Such a vocally challenging song for sure! I've always loved it & I love the T-Shirt you're rockin at the start of this video! I'm really enjoying learning from you man & btw, you're looking like such a rock star today! Great video! Rock on & peace out! And keep the vocal science coming!
I was trying to sing with him when he said to and then at 11:10 he says, "Do it with meeeee," and hits a note I couldn't reach if a wrecking ball hit me in the groin full speed. The spirit is willing, Ken, but the flesh is weak. I love the whole lesson, though.
Lord Jesus, Ken !!! That is just amazing. You killed it. Even without Scholz's processing & studio tricks. Been singing it in the shower & my cars ( not at the same time LOL ) since 76'. But you squashed my hopes of ever replicating it, due to the confirmation from Micki ( Barry Goudreau's Sister in Law ) that Scholz also punched the studio cut like a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Brad was known as such a great guy " We just lost the nicest guy in Rock n Roll ". MTAF ROCKS, yet I always liked his vocals in " Peace of Mind, & Man I'll never be " more. But everything he did was just beautiful & legendary. Rest in Peace ✝️, Bradley Delp PS - did u wk w Tommy DeCarlo ? Clearly someone did, & he got really close 2Album Brad, live.
Once again, enjoyed this video immensely. Not to mention the classic that "More Than A Feeling" was, but a break down of the song; various notes and whether it was 'head' or 'chest' voice. Of course, it did bring out the feels completely. I'd pay to see you front BOSTON if it should ever happen (one can dream/wish) 🤞. Thoroughly enjoyed this. I am 14 all over again (mid 1970's). Thank you Ken. 👍
Great take on Delp from Boston. Definitely a 70s icon up there with Gillian, Coverdale, Dio, and Gramm. Foreplay/Long Time was actually my favorite off the first 1976 album. Great memories. I was a single 22 year old rookie police officer in Des Moines, IA. I'd get off work at 7am, grab a Pabst or Bud from the fridge (Miller Lite was first light beer and about a year old and not yet mainstream ... also was more expensive) and put the LP on the turntable to wind down. Super, super vocals and guitar. Thanks for breaking it down with your flawless cover regardless of your other work that day. Keep em coming. Ever had a high and tight or a buzz cut ✂️ 😆 Thanks again.
Hey Ken! Boston! Great band. Freshman album still holds up after all these years. Great job Ken! Heart of the Sunrise next? Lol! Would be a great song to do next. Just saying.❤🌄😎
Tom Scholtz is really like a classical composer who uses rock instruments and modes, so the formality of it all demands a really particular vocal approach. Yes I am saying Boston isn’t rock . But in a good way. The band is a one off, a freak. Nice job man!
Hey ken, Love love love the Boston album! Grew up listening to it and was exposed to it from my uncle ….it’s really interesting getting a little history on the band I read that Tom sholtz was turned down by the record companies 5-6 times and each time he kept refining the recordings to where they couldn’t deny that it was a great record. Also I’m not sure how tom discovered brad but I do know when he heard him he said he was like a songbird the with the most beautiful voice and the rest is history…. Love your version of the song and again thanks for breaking it down 😊
Re: the gentleness required of the intro: David Gilmour of Pink Floyd is like that, too. Although he can "rock out", a lot of his vocals require a gentle, almost "breathy" tone..."Fat Old Sun", "A Pillow of Winds", "Comfortably Numb", much of his solo work...
I really really wanna be able to sing this song, but my range is still short. I didn't know that I have to mix that chest voice. But after watching this, i know. Thx, really, thx a lot. 👍🏽
Always loved Boston and Brad Delp is def one the GOATS of rock singing, right there with Steve Perry and your man Mickey Thomas. Props to you for holding that last note, that was epic. I would love to see you do an isolated vocal track of Find Your Way Back from Jefferson Starship, that vocal track is amazing, right up there with More Than A Feeling or Any Way You Want It.
Ive been wanting to ask this ken for a long time im a big fan of yours I think you're really awesome.. I just want to know who do you think the best all around singer is? like the one you think has very minimal flaws and sings perfectly live
@13:33 to 13:39 Just go ahead, drop the mic and walk off the stage with the "that's right" look on your face. As soon as I saw you going to sing this I looked for that note and hold to see how you would deliver it. Great job!
Ken, Brother, you killed it!! Not any disrespect to Brad, but I think you done better! This is been an arch-nemesis type song to sing for me...maybe one day you can teach me. Right now if I try it, I'm immediately DONE man, vocals fried toast! God Bless you and yours Ken, thanks for this too!! BTW: Everyone wants me to sing it, everytime, too!! Ugghhh!! I almost resent it at this point.... And I LOVE this song and Brad/Boston too!
I can do the "holding in my air" thing and carry a note (If I know what it's supposed to sound like) a decent time... but WOW hats off Brother! I'm almost certainly doing everything wrong tho. I also have no where near the strength in diaphragm as you man!! Something I need to work more on for sure!
Brad Delp was such a phenomenal singer. His music will live forever, R.I.P
It's great to see things broken down into digestible chunks, this really shows your skill as a teacher. I always enjoy your content
It really is. And teaching when you can do it byself.
Ken is the BEST teacher. I've had a few...because of covid I had to take 2 years off. So I'm starting over from zero. But this time I have confidence because Ken tought me once am eager to get started again. Thanks for everything Ken?
I'm hitting the like button before I've even watched it!!!🤦.... We all know it'll be great!!👊🏼
i love that you are willing to correct yourself, sign of wise(and humble) human being in my humble opinion. Fantastic as always ken
i am a keyboard player , but sometime i got to sing back chorus , i learn a lot with you
What a song!
What a performance!
What an analysis!
Ken, I am always amazed at vocalist Brad Delp from Boston. That song is the reason I bought their album years ago and then continued following Boston. Excellent break down of the song!! Masterful!!!
Brad Delp. The Man with the Golden Voice. You are surely missed by all your Fans.
Ken, super performance and lesson! I remember the moment I first heard that tune, too. I also heard that one line as "I close my highs..." 🎤
That was great, fantastic,superb!!
Your version is just as great as the original.👍👏👏👏👏👊
You sure don't hear vocals like that in modern music...sadly. I was expecting this to sound more like Ken Tamplin singing Brad Delp, but if I were to close my eyes and listen to this I might be lead to believe it really was Delp singing. Great job, man!

Classic
This song has been my curse for years I wanna do this so bad at karaoke but frightened by it
Travis Miller honestly, I think you'll do a brilliant job. Just keep trying and you'll get it. I know you can do it.
This thing is a beast. That big, round, golden tone is almost impossible to replicate unless you're built like Brad. As much as I loved Fran, David and other Boston singers....it was still vastly different when they sang it.
I love to hear you do these. I will sadly never get to singing like that, but is great to hear how it is achieved. Great job.
Thanks Ken. Awesome Job! This lesson has helped me. I play a 12 sting in my acoustic shows in Michigan and get requests to play more than a feeling.
I love the excitement you have for songs and music and vocal teaching!!! Thank you very much for your beautiful gifts of singing and teaching⚡🙏🤗🙏⚡
2 thumbs-up!!!!!!!! This song is so underrated!!!!!!! Thank you agian for breaking this song down and showing us just what it takes to sing this one, not easy!!!!!! Take care, your friend from Nebraska

Awesome, Ken. This was worth every second.
Ken on the right thinking, “Damn, this guy’s good”.
Great job.

Wow. What a amazing vocal demonstration?! Dude this really proves how awesome you are. And that must of been a honor to talk to Brads wife.
thanks for the insight and the story about his wife was great!!!!
I was waiting for this, and you've delivered, thank you....I'm working on it right now!
really cool to see you go through the process
Love your videos, your lessons, your style. Thank you for sharing so much. I'll join your course, sooner than later. Period. ❤️

Oh wow, not sure if you remember but just a day or two ago I commented on your cover of this song, remarking on the insanely long note at the end and wondering how you did it! Talk about great, coincidental timing. Thanks for the in depth answer!
Ken I was wondering if you could do a vocal analyze on Lisa - gurenge the video I’m pretty sure is called first take Lisa-gurenge
Ken , Slaying it Maestro.
What a thrill it would be to work with you Ken! Could you p!ease come to Ecuador where I live?!😘This is a super challenging male vocal and great study piece and you most definitely rocked it! One of my all time favs that always delivers chills. Thank you for all of your amazing instruction and talent.

Com certeza o melhor professor do mundo. Eu não falo inglês, mas ele explica tão bem que eu entendo tudo o que ele fala!
So much to learn here. I appreciate the info on holding a note longer. I have figured out that words like “way”, are a lot easier to hold based upon how to sing it. Wow I really liked your version, Honestly, it was magical.
Nice context Ken.
Dude! Awesome video! Great job!
Absolutely amazing 🤩 you are the best brother!!!
Great video.
My voice teacher (way back in the day) used to say, "Don't sing 'my yies." Don't slide; give a little voice to the "e."
So glad you enjoy the content!!
Great singing, Ken! This is such a difficult song to pull off. Thanks for sharing your tips with us.
Rest in Peace ✝️, Bradley Delp
PS - did u wk w Tommy DeCarlo ? Clearly someone did, & he got really close 2Album Brad, live.
Counter bari?
Seriously sounds awesome... Shows what the right kind of hard work can accomplish
I just cant belive how good you are bro😅😅😅😅 This was total sick 🥇🏅🥇🏅

Hey ken,
Love love love the Boston album!
Grew up listening to it and was exposed to it from my uncle ….it’s really interesting getting a little history on the band I read that Tom sholtz was turned down by the record companies 5-6 times and each time he kept refining the recordings to where they couldn’t deny that it was a great record.

Amazing vid, Kenny! That's cool and your voice is soooooooo good!

Hey, Ken. Can you please do a vocal analysis on Bon Jovi - Always? I would really like that. Thanks.
So hard to sing. Interested to see how you'd do it.
Man, that little 'something, something' was bloody awesome.
Wow Ken, what an amazing cover to an amazing song, it is actually one of my favorite Boston songs. :)
All time classic!! Sounded great, What’s the highest note you sing here?
Oops posted before I got to where you talked about the notes..
10:21 - Uaaauuu, muito bom! 💗😖💗
I really really wanna be able to sing this song, but my range is still short. I didn't know that I have to mix that chest voice. But after watching this, i know. Thx, really, thx a lot. 👍🏽

I also have no where near the strength in diaphragm as you man!! Something I need to work more on for sure!
Have you done something on that Graham Bonett Rainbow dude/or Joe Lynn Turner that other Rainbow dude???
