The Swingles - 15 Step (Radiohead A Cappella Cover) - Matchstick Sessions

Our new video comes courtesy of one of our favourite British exports: Radiohead. The eerie beauty and complexity of their music makes it a challenge to arrange and a thrill to sing. This song appeared on Radiohead’s 2007 album In Rainbows - though you may also know it from the first Twilight film!
For our a cappella version of 15 Step we use live looping to build up a densely layered arrangement, taking inspiration from playground clapping songs, breakbeat and big band jazz along the way.

My Saturday night often ends up in lockdown Radiohead RUclips cover searches. I've seen hundreds now and many are wonderfully crafted. I think this is one of my very favourites. Partly as it's not an easy cover, so many idiosyncratic elements to the song's construct, but mainly it's in the excellent delivery. It's genuinely perfect. Be proud.
