Hello everyone! This style was highly requested and I imagine it is due to the richly layered, cosy, colourful, and pattern-rich nature of these interiors. One of the things I enjoyed about this style was the honouring of the past through the inclusion of family heirlooms, antiques, and richly stained brown furniture pieces. I believe there are so many ways to make this style your own, whether you wish to go all out or simply include a few inherited or second-hand finds in a fresh and contemporary way. Did you enjoy this style? Let me know below :) xx

There's a reason these styles survive. They're so warm and inviting! It's also easy to incorporate personal collections or accessories that speak to owner's lives. You can learn a lot about what's important to friends and family by studying their homes.

But I adore all the beautiful fabrics, tassels, trims, pleats, etc. that make up this style. I love all the details, and I find the style very warm, like a big hug by someone you love dearly.

I enjoyed this video immensely & I've learned so much! I hadn't realized it but I've been mixing this style of gran millennial with farmhouse style in my home as I've continued settling in here. I was raised in a minimalist home so I am drawn to that style organically. But I absolutely love color, patterns, botanicals & eclectic items splashed in with the calm neutrals & strong lines of farmhouse decor. It probably sounds ugly LOL. I think it's working well though? I live in a beautifully & sturdily built 135 year old farmhouse out on the literal American prairie. I'm starting to entertain again after the pandemic has eased & I have been getting compliments on my home. It seems like a balance of masculine vs. feminine, vintage vs. timeless, my Scandinavian heritage vs. my spouse's Central European heritage, items collected from travels vs. locally sourced.

The pendulum swings - from Victorian to Craftsman, from MCM to Early American, from Mom's '60's Maple to '80's Cabbage Roses and cherry stained furniture. We tire of being told what we "must" do and have (farmhouse B&W) and swing a new direction. While the Grand Millennial does have specific elements, it's really just the extravagant release of doing what we damned well please Dorothy Draper style!

Around these parts, this particular style is known as either “Long Island Gold Coast” or “ Old Money” style. I’ve been to homes were the furniture have around generations. Many were past down, or bought at antique stores, or at old stores like B. Altman’s, John Wanamaker’s, and W&J Sloan’s.

Hi Suzie, totally love your work! May I know, please, the color on the kitchen cabinets - it's a blue, with paneled backsplash, and black round knobs. Sincere thanks.

Hello ADW, is that the photo at 1:49? Unfortunately that is not a design of ours, it is sourced from Pinterest. You could potentially achieve this vibrancy by mixing a few of the Annie Sloan chalk paints listed here:
      www.anniesloan.com/products/chalk-paint/blue/
Or one of these teal shades by Benjamin Moore:
      www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/hc-148/jamestown-blue
      www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/1657/niagara-falls
I hope this helps! Otherwise I recommend taking a screenshot of the photo the sending it to your local paint stockist for advice 😃 xx

This is every home I ever saw growing up in south and still are. This is every home I grew up in a mix of antiques and these colors and what I have in my home. We have so many dinnerware sets for every holiday and occasion and and this style has been ripped out for farmhouse styles or new trends in past several years all the wallpaper that's been stripped or furniture painted.

Honestly, for me this is one unattractive style. I have a beautiful mahogany bedroom set that I would love to replace. The problem is that it would cost a fortune get all new quality furniture. I do my best to lighten it up w a some modern lamps, art, bamboo shades and solid linen drapes et al. With this being said, I love all your many style videos and learned so much....probably from one of yours how to lighten up my bedroom.

Thanks for sharing! It's wonderful that there are so many ways people can choose to decorate. Choice is a wonderful thing! It's great that you have found ways to lighten up your space with art, lamps and other touches. I appreciate your feedback on this video and for your support of our channel. Suzie x

Had no idea this was a thing. I've been curating we loved items for thirty years. People always tell me how cozy, inviting and comfortable my house is. I'm not in love with feeling like you might hurt something by sitting down and like a lived in look. Pinterest perfect is not for me.

I’m not sure if it is to do with age Margaret 😃 From what I gather it is more so younger generations taking elements from their ‘grandmothers’ homes and adding a contemporary and maximalist twist to it xx
