Crispin is way under utilized. He's been a bit of a nut, but he's really unique and an amazing performer. Hope some producer wakes up and sees his potential.
I'm on Crispin's side. they could recast his character like Jennifer Parker who the replacement looked nothing like the original actress, or drop his character. The use of a mold to recreate his face on another guy is completely unfair to Crispin. Now a days, CGI achieves the same effect of taking another person but putting another face on them but at least permission is granted first from the original actor or their family if he/she died.
@@clubredken13 I agree, if a side character is asking for lead role money then its kind of rude because you get what you get and the company decides who makes more than who. I dont agree is the whole using his likeness in a face mold on a new actor. like I said, Jennifer Parker was recast because the original actress left but for good reason. For Crispin he left for lack of money and it was on bad terms. The Jennifer Parker recast was smooth but for Crispin, using his face was just a "punch to the face" for him and a simple recast would work if fans were ok with the new Jennifer Parker
@blayzertrayl i dunno i think there's more to it than that because look if it were you wouldn't you be pissed? yes his role is so small but i would not be surprised if it were bigger i have the book but i don't remember if it is or not in the book. honestly for years i thought it was him cause does look like him, however i can see where he's coming from when you watch someone else do a role and try to copy that it's VERY difficult to do i think like Johnny Depp could do it but not every actor/actress is able to do that. Crispin has always been a Serious actor and he takes it personal and i get that but you are right it has been 30 years, but ya know what? there's still shit that still pisses me off that happened 30 years ago and i'm sure you can say the same thing. there's certain shit in your past that either you did or have happen to you that still pisses you off even if you are well past it.
@blayzertrayl Dude, the guy is an actor. His life's work is based on his image and the skill to act. They stole his image and made it so in a way that no one could properly act, out of spite. He has the right to negotiate for more more, they have the right to say no and that's that. If it stopped at that, all would be good and no love lost. He then makes a point in saying that the aggravating thing is having to listen again and again about people involved in this battle of ego trying to justify their actions by launching a smear campaign against him. He couldn't be clearer in the interview.
@blayzertrayl They put those in up side down so it would be hard to tell it wasn't him. And the role probably would have been larger if he was actually in it.
He is a great actor and seems to be a perfectionist. I'm glad he got the chance to tell his side of the story, what they did in the sequel was most definitely wrong and he actually challenges the director.
tbf both sides were wrong... Crispin is a VERY difficult actor to work with. What the Studio did was wrong as well, but the Studio wanted to make it work, but Crispin was just dead set in his ways and refused any counter offer they made.
I knew straight away! The biggest giveaway was when they never showed him up close and other shots he held his arm/hand up to cover his face a little! That was the BIGGEST giveaway right there. The other shots were just recycled scenes from the first film.
Me either I was too young to notice it at the time and I've just never realised on rewatching it. Wow looks like I've a trilogy of DVDs to look out for the weekend.
Sue for what? Since when he gets to decide if he's part of a movie or not. If they didn't want him anymore for whatever reason, that's up to the producer. He's an employee and no one is obliged of hiring him. Unless they signed a contract and it wasn't respected.
my life is a lie. i've seen the movie a million times and never cared to notice. i think its because you just stop paying that close attention because you feel like you know it already. i knew jennifer was different at least
They won't remake it. Or make a fourth. Robert Zemekis has made sure the rights will stay away from rebooting producers and his family will retain the rights to the franchise to ensure it never gets remade, only enhanced versions of the originals will be allowed, for 4K viewing and such. The only way they'd be able to make a reboot or a BTTF4 is if after he dies, someone in his trust who has control over the contract sells it back to a studio for a quick buck and betrays his wish.

Crispin Glover does not actually appear in the second film except in clips from the first film- all of the scenes featuring the George McFly character in the movie (that were not from the clips) were performed by another actor in old age make-up (or in silouette when necessary in the 1950s scenes). It was never made clear during promotion of the second film that he wasn't really in it. That is what pissed him off.
I have to say I watched this movie in 1985 so that was like 34 years ago and most actors in 34 years look old AF. I can’t believe this guy looks exactly like he did then.I have to say damn he has aged well!! He needs to write a book on his secret.
I think its a shame that Crispin is recognized as a genius actor yet doesnt get major roles very often because he's considered "different or eccentric"..these qualities are what makes him so great at his job.
NO he is not that good and he doesn't want to listen to director's guidance therefore no one wants to work with him. Plus he said he did not think money could buy hapiness therefore letting him unemployed is helping him in his beliefs.
He was the perfect actor for George McFly. I loved his personality and acting. Certainly deserves more recognition. Great job Crispín Glover. Love man.
@@CaptainMyCaptain33 Actually, that wasn't Crispin Clover in part 2 or 3. It was Jeffrey Weissman. Don't feel bad, it had me fooled all this time until recently.
I used to dislike him when I was younger because I believed he just was being stubborn but now that I know what I know about Hollywood, my opinion has totally changed. Good for him for defending himself.
@@ron.hertzberg Right. As I wrote somewhere else, the actor who played George Mc Fly in part 2 helped him in court to win his case and Cripsin never said a simple "thank you" to this guy. Worse he even insulted him publicly.
Crispin shows signs of narcissistic personality disorder. The way he plays the victim, or the way he paints Bob Gale as the worst he can come up with (liar and thief), the way he demands more for his work and is unthankful after that... I've seen this behavior a few times already. Bob Gale didn't say bad things about Crispin, he called it a disagreement and that was it. People with psychological problems often have very eccentric acting or even behavior, because in reality they don't understand human behavior very well and are incapable of acting like a normal person would. Of course they'll excuse it afterwards with "that would be bad acting and I don't do that".
It’s incredible how people here just use any means to attack a person , who may not have to publickly expose things that many won’t understand behind the Hollywood scenes .. .. First of when your being offered a movie role , you don’t need to take it especially in a second remake of or sequel .. Actually man y actors knew that the sequel was not a good choice for their careers .. It’s always smart to thing 3 times before getting involved in theee types situations you know never know how it’s gonna end in ..
Wow you're right! That's why you shouldn't take Google (or Wikipedia) at face value but always check their source. If you look up "how tall is Jimmy Neutron" the answer ridicolously is 6'2". (I had to look up various fictional characters height for a group shot) And in that case Google's source is an article mentioning various characters having insane heights according to Google, creating a source loop! It turns out that prior to that article Google used Jimmy Neutron Wiki as a source but the page got vandalized so it told the wrong height for a while, then somebody unable to check the sources tweeted the result, making it go viral and leading to that article being written which now google uses as the source because it's the first result when searching the character's height.
You can tell Crispen Glover is a Craftsman. He speaks with so much passion about how serious he takes his acting and performances. And his body of work speaks for itself
They didn’t pay him as much as the other cast members because they didn’t think he was worth that much. And so they replaced him and used his face without his permission
I honestly don't think he's that weird at all... He's in the movie business and articulate. Obviously he's upset as his image was tarnished for something that didn't need to be.... But this is an example of how the industry..... Moreso the people with power can impact other people's lives.... But we don't see all of the red tape and history....
I Still Love the Second one, but You Are Right, it would have been a WHOLE DIFFERENT MOVIE with Him!!! Plus, you know they would have used him More for the Story.
Why that ? He was a PITA during the whole filming of part 1 and that's why they did not wanna recast him. That's facts. So what they did a mistake ? Whatever. Glover was, is and ever will be a PITA actor to direct.
Back To The Future would never have been so great without Crispin Glover's superb acting. It's actually pretty amazing how so many amazing actors played in Back To The Future...Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly = Amazing, Crispin Glover as George McFly = Amazing, Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown = Amazing, Thomas Wilson as Biff = Amazing, Lea Thompson as Lorraine = Amazing. That group of actors really created something which is as close to perfection as possible when it comes to movies.
If you go back and watch some of the interviews he did around the time the movies came out you'll see that he is kind of a strange guy. If you can find one of the old David Letterman clips where he's on you'll see a perfect example.
If ever a franchise was of its time and those actors at that time and the other people working on those movies, this is it - really cannot be recreated.....

Absolutely. The trilogy still is amazing, but damn, crispins character was so so entertaining, important, and needed much more follow up like the other characters in 2 and 3.
Crispin Glover is one of the most interesting actors of our time. I'd rank him up there with Brando and Katheryn Hepburn He breathes 'life' in every character he plays. Even though the part may be a small one, that character becomes unforgettable. I'm watching him as Mr. World in "Gods in America" for the second time and he scares me. And I felt I had to say something. Does anyone else see what I'm seeing in him? He makes me laugh and... he scares me more than Vincent Price or King Kong ever did. You can't take your eyes off of him. God bless and protect him and his magical gifts. Sincerely, Charles. July 13th, 2022 AD.
I'm a huge Back to the Future fan. Even with its silly plot holes it is STILL one of my favorite film series of all time because it did exactly what it set out to do: make a fun, and exciting time traveling movie. Sure, I've contemplated a Back to the Future 4, who hasn't? Like most, I don't think it would be good idea because BTTF was created by some of the greats, and wrapped up the series nicely. But, it's fun to imagine. I've known about this whole Crispin Glover lawsuit since the very beginning, and I totally understand and respect the purpose for it and what it means for every Hollywood actor in the industry. Don't use someone's likeness without their consent. HOWEVER, that being said, I personally feel like Crispin Glover has been carrying this weight on his shoulders since 1989. It's the only thing that's brought up in interviews, and it still angers him to this today. I get the reasoning for that, but dude come on, it's time to move on. You'll never be free of this lawsuit or Back to the Future (which, as a series, is never going away), if you don't learn to forgive and move on. Who knows where his career might be now HAD he learned to move on and get over himself. When he says things today like "If only Back to the Future 2 and 3 never happened..." But they DID happen. It's time to accept that. Again, I think what he accomplished for all actors in Hollywood was good and promising, but when people look at him now, that's all they'll ever see. If you try to change the narrative, it's amazing what can happen. AND, to put it even simpler, don't get caught up in what he-said/she-said petty bullshit for all eternity. It would only help me respect him more. I know Crispin Glover will never see this rant, but whatever, feels good to post it.
For the love of god, don't make a 4th movie. Nothing, NOTHING you can do will beat the original trilogy. Please do not bother to try and cash in on nostalgia, the classic movies are timeless.
yes it will be a money thing not a classic reboot. If they came back for a fourth movie it could be Doc Emmett brown coming back in the new decade to an older Marty Mcfly and his Son Sam as Marty Jr or whatever name they decide and he could be like 23 years old and meet docs kids etc. or they could do it like the video game.

Crispin is way under utilized. He's been a bit of a nut, but he's really unique and an amazing performer. Hope some producer wakes up and sees his potential.
He's one of the Leads in American gods.
He's doing fine, now, but no one wanted him for years
River`s Edge
I'm on Crispin's side. they could recast his character like Jennifer Parker who the replacement looked nothing like the original actress, or drop his character. The use of a mold to recreate his face on another guy is completely unfair to Crispin. Now a days, CGI achieves the same effect of taking another person but putting another face on them but at least permission is granted first from the original actor or their family if he/she died.
They are not making another one.
And Crispin deserved not to be rehired when he asked for way too much money. You have the dumbest comment of the day.
He WAS perfect as George McFly ❤❤❤.....
OMG. I never knew he wasn't in Back to the Future 2. I just assumed it was him. Wow. I don't blame him for sueing.
They never advertised that it was him. Like you said, you assumed. People get recast all the time. Why would he sue
If they reboot I'm going Back in time to erase it.
Please do
They won't remake it. Or make a fourth.
Robert Zemekis has made sure the rights will stay away from rebooting producers and his family will retain the rights to the franchise to ensure it never gets remade, only enhanced versions of the originals will be allowed, for 4K viewing and such. The only way they'd be able to make a reboot or a BTTF4 is if after he dies, someone in his trust who has control over the contract sells it back to a studio for a quick buck and betrays his wish.
it is going to tank as ghostbusters if they do, because they will do all women in that movie.

Some of the scenes of part 4 were made but got shelved
yes it will be a money thing not a classic reboot. If they came back for a fourth movie it could be Doc Emmett brown coming back in the new decade to an older Marty Mcfly and his Son Sam as Marty Jr or whatever name they decide and he could be like 23 years old and meet docs kids etc. or they could do it like the video game.
In a way, the fourth movie was already made. It was the saturday morning cartoon in the 90s.
I would love to see him do the Riddler in a serious dark movie. He just has that thing.
That's a good idea. Damn, his lanky look and twisted glare. Yeah I could see it. Just NOT like the Jim Carrey version...ugh...lol.
If you haven't seen him in American Gods then I do lightly recommend it. His character is really dark and scary. He's one of my favorite actor's ♡
Unlikely to happen. Also, Paul Dano is the new Riddler.
Screw Riddler ! I want him as the Joker !
