I agree with your comments. I haven't seen this in a while, but I loved it and rented quite often when I was middle/high school. This is a very under appreciated Wes Craven film.
I was like 11/12 when I saw this and even then it was made pretty clear that the mother and father are brother and sister with many of the people under the stairs being their kids (also most likely kids they had with their kids as well)
watch it full screen then use the DVD PLAYER REMOTE to shrink the screen you can see the steam rising from the sides of the tub the water was actually FREEZING COLD to get that SHOCKING REACTION from AJ LANGER
I remember when I was much younger, on censored for TV version I saw first, daddy says "Shut the face up" to the dog and my friends and I got a great chuckle out of it.
I first saw this on demand with Comcast in the free movie section...my mom and I love the meltdown the mother has when she yells at her Alice, “only god knows were he’s doing his business!” In reference to roach... Which in hindsight is a damn good question
I've only been watching this channel for about a week and I've heard Ving Rhames brought up more times than ever before in my life. That man has been in a lot of movies.
Absolutely love u guys and your show is one of my very favorite things to watch here on RUclips. I don't exactly know where else I should or can go to ask u guys a question, so I just decided to ask it on here for now. I was wondering if there was a possibility that you all might do a review of the original film version of 'Rosemary's Baby' sometime in the near future? It's one of my favorite horror films and I really would LOVE to see you guys do a review of it on here and find out what you all think and/or thought about the film, whether good, bad or indifferent. Anyway hope you guys are able to find my comments/questions to you on here somehow!
Classic movie with amazing atmosphere and score. Landlords house reminds me of Hull House from "Night Of The Demons" , with all the passageways and shady history. Those are the 2 best and scariest houses In horror movie history imo. Brandon Quintin Adams was an amazing 90s actor. After this he did The Sandlot another classic (and I liked "Ghost In The Machine").
Cool film for sure...love that Ving Rhames was in it-he always is awesome in what he does...RIP dear Wes Craven. Is a shame when a gifted light gets snuffed out...never enough time and you just know they have so much more to offer. Hope the little moppet playing the girl wasn't traumatised by the bath scene...as well just butt nasty pervy Daddy and all. Loved the dog--truly talented pup. Makes me wonder though......perhaps some of the children what got out...maybe there's the answer for the zombie apocalypse? Lol Just sayin.....brilliant as always guys--keep em comin
I rewatched this today having seen it once in probably 1994. In 1994 aged 14 I remember thinking it was quite scary. I liked it today for very different reasons. Its an odd film, but very funny. I'd love to know what Wes Craven was thinking. I like how the dad just decides to wear a gimp suit for no explained reason. The script is funny too. Can't tell if Wes Craven knows the script is occasionally stupid or just doesn't care. There is a lot of 'tell don't show' in the dialogue. Also, was the LA ghetto ever this bad? It looks like a war zone.
It's like if home alone was a horror film. Also I'd love to see a sequel which shows what the boys under the stairs got up to once the film ended 😉 I read that the low budget meant there wasn't much studio interference and I can definitely tell. The eccentric touches make the film better for sure.
Meh, this movie was hit or miss with me. Not particularly one of his best movies in my opinion. Fun fact. Ving Rhames is the Arby's voice. "we have the meats!!"
Can someone explain to me how the people trapped in the Walls etc were all clean shaven? Try had long hair, extra skin on their faces? But have no facial hair whatsoever...
Guys, I love your channel and insightful reviews. I really hate it when you call things “retarded”. It’s a lazy move and never the right word for what you’re describing. It’s offensive and takes me out of the enjoyment of the video every time you say it. There are so many other words to use in its place. Please be responsible and stop using that word.
Def more of a goonies Boobie traps yes I said it/there's people chained up in the basement/they look deformed but roach is aka sloth from the goonies the good guy.
Anyone else ever notice at 26:32, that guy that breaks through the wall.... look at the back of his head... you can see that it's a mask!!! The back of the mask is open!!! Now, I don't know if that character is supposed to be wearing a mask to hide his face, or what, but if not, someone fucked up. Hahaha.
I don't like this movie at all. It's deranged. I remember thinking Craven's mind can't be healthy after seeing this movie, and I guess there's something there since he eventually died of a brain tumor.
I'd love y'all to do more under rated Craven films like Serpent and The Rainbow, Shocker, etc
What about Red Eye? That movie's pretty scary too but not talked about much.
Always seen this movies as a dark comedy horror, very creative horror movie, so much fun. I love it.
We miss you Wes
Watching this now the relationship between mommy and Alice reminds me of the movie Mommy Dearest
I agree with your comments. I haven't seen this in a while, but I loved it and rented quite often when I was middle/high school. This is a very under appreciated Wes Craven film.
So "Don't Breathe" stole most of its ideas from the first half of this movie.
Not really too far off from stealing both halves of the movie.
Tienes razón
@@xxoxia Well they didn't steal a likeable main character from this movie. Although they really should have.
the "dad" in this movie was hilarious to me. 😂
My guy..your profile pic is golden
I got 'em, I got 'em, I got 'em!!!
I got turned on when he said, "Bad girls burn in hell" wtf is wrong with me 😳😭😆😆
I was like 11/12 when I saw this and even then it was made pretty clear that the mother and father are brother and sister with many of the people under the stairs being their kids (also most likely kids they had with their kids as well)
Pulp Fiction prequel? - "Bring out the Gimp".
Imma about to get medieval on yo @$$
The bath scene was brutal
watch it full screen
then use the
DVD PLAYER REMOTE
to shrink the screen
you can see the steam
rising from the sides of
the tub
the water was actually
FREEZING COLD
to get that
SHOCKING REACTION
from
AJ LANGER
This channel will blow up!!! Awesome reviews 👍
I remember when I was much younger, on censored for TV version I saw first, daddy says "Shut the face up" to the dog and my friends and I got a great chuckle out of it.
This movie gives us what would have happened if Bruce Willis wouldn't have came back for Ving.
if those kids are able to punch through the walls and the floorboards what the hell was stopping them from escaping before?
Great review of classic Wes Craven film guys! For me, it's right up there with Craven's more famous works like Scream and Nightmare films.
I first saw this on demand with Comcast in the free movie section...my mom and I love the meltdown the mother has when she yells at her Alice, “only god knows were he’s doing his business!” In reference to roach...
Which in hindsight is a damn good question
That' s a nice channel you have here. I' ll come back.
A. J. Langer was 17 in 1991
I've only been watching this channel for about a week and I've heard Ving Rhames brought up more times than ever before in my life.
That man has been in a lot of movies.
Damn good movie!!!! RIP Wes Craven
I remember catching this on Netflix a couple years back very good movie
"I think she's racist, as she doesn't like colored people"...wait, did he say colored people?!?!? I died.
Absolutely love u guys and your show is one of my very favorite things to watch here on RUclips. I don't exactly know where else I should or can go to ask u guys a question, so I just decided to ask it on here for now.

Good Review! What about a review of "Stepfather" (1987)?? ;)
I loved this movie so much as a kid. Still great now
It's funny to see big Ed and Nadine from twin peaks reprise their roles as a married couple .
Great review. I loved that dog, and it was sad to see him die
Love this movie. Saw it at the theater. Some of Wes Craven's best work.
As a young 12 year old , I fell hardcore for AJ Langer ( Alice) after seeing this movie. Once I saw her in " my so called life" that killed it for me
Never seen this film but I'll give it a go now, I guess.
Cheers for the upload guys

Hi Guys Please! do a review on 1986 The Fly. Also do you two have any other new reviews on the way soon?
Great review, i had forgotten all about this movie.
I would love for you guys to do all of Wes Craven's films, that are not Freddy movies. Especially "Serpent and the Rainbow."
I would watch you guys review a houseplant. thank you for all the amazing work
Top 10 hidden gem horror movies
You should review The Lord of The Rings trilogy or The Hobbit trilogy
Great review as always guys
This movie scared the shit out of me and creeped me the fuck out as a kid lolol
Just a clarification-AJ Langer was actually 16/17, not 14.
Love people under the stairs!!
Roach was my favorite character
Wow great review. It deserves way more views
AJ Langer was 16 when she did this film.

Great horror movie but It was hard for me to watch the scenes of child abuse. Then again I did first watch this movie at a young age.
AWESOME film watched it aged 13 first time was howling my ass off but creeped out too. Mad Roache was funny as fuck.
The van was parked pretty deep into the drive way and tbh it would be way more dumb to leave that fan on the street
This was no horror film, this was more of a comedy 😂
The people under the stairs look like what we used to look like 5 in the morning at Tunnel for those that don’t know google it
Meh, this movie was hit or miss with me. Not particularly one of his best movies in my opinion. Fun fact. Ving Rhames is the Arby's voice. "we have the meats!!"
One of my favourite movies.
Scariest dog since Cujo.
Can someone explain to me how the people trapped in the Walls etc were all clean shaven? Try had long hair, extra skin on their faces? But have no facial hair whatsoever...
The only scary thing about this movie is ving rhames getting killed of early cuase he was supposed to be a masculine man
The dog deserves a Milo Award 🥇
