I think when Mari goes black and white in this scene, it isn't just Headspace Mari. I think for a brief moment we are actually seeing Maris ghost in a sense, trying to get sunny to move on. Idk, thats just my interpretation of the scene.
I like to believe that to another time is when Sunny gose to the piano in the real world and Marie playing. then hero walks in saying he heard music, Given how Sunny is standing a fair distance when hero comes in I like to believe she was actually playing in that moment.
@Magicant I think Mari did forgive him, since you meet more headspace Maris later on, who are oblivious to what happened at the docks, which means while Mari did forgive him, Sunny still has trouble letting go
@Magicant i lke to believe that because this mari is themed like black space, to some degree she is a representation of the truth and that this entire sequence is sunny's imagined closure that's founded trust in the love mari had for sunny, and to some degree, sunny knows this subconsciously; mari probably wouldnt want him to suffer for so long. its a very wistful feeling,, but HOO BOY it doesn't make this any less painful :'))))
To everyone saying that they think it's the real Mari here there's a lot of evidence to support that. 1. Mari acknowledges that she shouldn't have come, implying she as a ghost is not supposed to be interacting with living people. She also says "it just gets a little lonely without everyone". Obviously, this is unlike our headspace Mari who is always with us at every stage of the game. 2. She refers to Omori as Sunny, hoping that her brother hasn't been lost to Omori. 3. After these dialogues, the screen fades to white as Mari transforms into her Spirit self, saying goodbye to her little brother one last time. Gut wrenching.
My rational side wants to side with the comment above and say that it's all in his head but my faithful side believes in the visitation of dead members for amendments
@@g3same191Sunny would avoid the truth any means necessary, which is why if you pick the omori route this scene never happens; omori’s influence on the headspace world is stronger and mari cannot interfere.

"You've seen the curtain before" makes me think that the curtain is like... death? And so Sunny nearly died, which means... this might actually be Mari's ghost.
Guys not to be annoying but it really is the curtain of the piano room you can look by yourself so i think it does not mean death but the time Mari was alive and Sunny wasn't lost in headspace for escaping reality. Mari tries to make Sunny remember the truth and face reality instead of staying in his dreams.
@@lucasfouchez6083 yeah we fuckin know its also the piano room curtain but when mari says "youve seen it before AT THE LAKE" where he drowned and had a near death experience. also curtain of death is a phrase used in symbolism a lot.
I started playing this game in February. In early March, my brother was killed. I eventually came back and finished the game, but this scene where you get to see the real Mari one last time... this scene absolutely destroyed me. Still does.
"You've seen this curtain once before. The last time we went to the lake." The curtain not only represents the same one at the piano room, but the gate to the afterlife, Sunny may have seen it when he almost drowned, having a near-death experience before Mari saved him. He knows that she crossed it, and he keeps on seeing it. The same thing happened when her ghost was playing the piano at night the curtain was open, but when Hero came in it was seemed closed again as she had disappeared. Makes sense that his near-death experience could have made him able to see through realms sometimes, i want to believe that some things weren't only in his head, but also that her thoughts always followed him into his dreams.
This is my favorite scene in the entire game. Something about it being just Omori and Mari with not a single headspace resident anywhere makes it feel so lonely. It's kind of hard to describe why this is my favorite scene but this part really struck a chord in me.
This is the only portrayal of ghosts that makes me genuinely want to believe that ghosts are real. I think that the portrayal of ghosts being scary, resentful, or confused is lazy. Portraying them as genuine, and trying to help the people that they wronged in life is much more believable and realistic. Mari telling Sunny that she forgives him, and that she hopes that he’s still in there is heart wrenching. She knows that he’s in a bad place, and she’s trying to reach him in the only way she can.
I don't know why I imagine it like this, but I do. Sunny: regular text Omori: _This_ Both: *bold* Omori: *Mari? Yet... you're still afraid of one more thing, aren't you? Something harder to overcome. Omori: *Mari...* _Don't... I'm not ready..._ *Mari eventually passes ahead of Omori Mari: Omori... it seems you've forgotten something important... are you really okay with that? Omori: I don't know... _Yes?_ Mari: You've seen this curtain before... last time we went to the lake... This is my step through. I know I shouldn't have come... it just gets lonely without everyone Omori: _Go back. Go back to your safety. Don't do this again..._ Mari: It's not my place to say anymore, but... I hope you're still there... Sunny. I really miss you. This was the moment that Sunny started to gain the hope that he wouldn't need Omori forever.
