It's kind of neat how hero at the beginning of the game was the one to show you how to use moves and stuff and in his boss fight he's making contracts with you about ways to do fighting stuff better
I've been thinking about this situation and why Hero acted like this, and I guess I got it. Think of Hero. Almost everyone likes him. He looks like an ideal person. But he really doesn't think so. He tries to do his best every time he does something. Working for Jawsum and becoming the best worker less than in a day, in real world doing everything from the list in one morning (and remember how Sunny's mom said that she wouldn't be able to do it in one day). If he does something, he does it perfectly, but not because he has too. I think though almost everyone likes him, Hero isn't very confident. Maybe he even doesn't think that he deserves all that love and admiring. That could be a reason for his tries to do everything perfectly. And in this moment, he gets that he has the power. He gets that he doesn't have to be perfect anymore. He can do whatever he wants. Also, the second reason is that he suppress emotions in a way. Just look at his emotions, they are not so different from neutral. So maybe in this moment he felt freedom not only from being perfect, but also from hiding feelings. It's very interesting anyway.

Even if not, the DreamWorld still often has allusions to the real world that sunny wouldn't have immediately known about, like the singing bear thing in front of the train station being like the guy in front of the shopping area in the real world. Sunny would have no idea of that guy's existence either. I also think the boss represents a mix of the op's theory and one I saw elsewhere that it also represents sunny's fear of hero growing up, leaving, and/or changing
