Bard was so under tuned on release, you were better off having a 1v2 bot lane, since the XP difference made more of an impact than he did.

@thisisauniquehandle007 it does. hence why league is a sustain, stealth, mobility, one-shot shitfest with each new champ being more and more overtuned to stand out. the new champs are fun to play sure but playing against someone with 5 dashes and a stealth that never ends that can oneshot you is not a fun experience and feels less like you outskill your opponents and more like you're pigeonholed into playing something more broken or you have to go to great lengths to "handle" them.

The clip of Tyler1 reminds me of something I once saw someone point out, and that was how damn smart he is at choosing his words. If you go look at the "how did it make it to live servers" clip, he not ONCE says the name of the game, so that clip can literally be used across any game that this could apply to. Love thinking about that when I watch some of his clips
Bard is the champion I hold really close to my heart.
When he was announced in 2015 my entire friendgroup talked smack about him, calling him ugly with his 'peglegs' and disgusting hair. I played him since I was getting tired of playing Thresh and Morg everygame and as soon as I started to play him I fell in love. I played him so much that I started to get people saying in game "This is the only good Bard player I have ever seen" and it made me so chuffed. The kids at school from grades below me (only a small handful) started to know me as the Senior who was a good Bard Main, people who played DoTA knew Bard as the "Really bad champion but somehow Spooqs is the only person who knows how to play him well" and my friends would be excited to play with me when I picked Bard.
When I met my League friends in 2016 they knew me as the Bard main and were surprised that someone could play him as well as I. I don't play him much anymore (Which is upsetting), but I really ought to. I love the champion and I'm happy people are finally playing him.

i love my bardy, one of my absolute favorite champs to play in the entire game.
The memories came back. Back when I was playing League I had this one beautiful day when I carried eight games with this champion to Gold 5. Great design, even when you are losing you can enjoy the game by running it in the enemy jungle only to kite back to your base to tilt enemy players. This is how the new champion should look like. Unique, hard to play, not overloaded, but fun to play.

totally agree, but sometimes, they wanna force a solo q champion to fit in proscene, fiora for example is a splitpush monster but a very weak teamfighter, but they buffed her few patches ago even she is so strong already, without mentioning some 'stupid' ways to balance champion, for example ashe , she is good in proscene because of her utility, but instead of nerfing her utility aspects for eg increasing E cooldown they nerfed the base AD (i guess)
I mean ofc you cant expect a completely balanced game, but with how bad riot handles certain changes and the ridicilous bullshit they release it is fine to complain.
Theres small balancing changes which have little impact, and then theres the time that Galio Q doing more than 100% of your health as percent damage made it to live. Riot releases changes that just completely redefines the strength of champions a little TOO often. The number of times they have to walk back changes because they just didn't do that much QA before releasing has been...discouraging to be honest. People do complain far too often about small things because they don't or can't adapt to it, but there's also been some really crazy changes that have brought on legitimate criticism

i remember playing bard when hes on free rotation one day and just loving him. Played the shit out of him. Watched a random lcs game and it happened to be when aphromoo picked him and I was just happy as shit
Quick story time!
I started playing LoL when quarantine started in Italy, and fell in love with a lot of characters. It's what I liked the most about the game, I liked playing characters that I found funny, and made me laugh. I started with Blitzcrank, since I like robots, and his personality made me cackle! I then went for Nunu and Willump, Braum, Shaco.. The list went on! It wasn't until March when I finally discovered Bard. I was confused, for a second I thought that they just added them as a secret and I just stumbled upon it or something, but my friends relieved me, by saying that "Bard is just a bad champion, nobody really uses them, which is why you haven't seen them yet!"
I immediately fell in love. Their design, their moveset, their wacky and upbeat personality, it was all perfect for me, and I felt special for playing such an underrated character! It came to the point where my ADCs usually got very surprised and sent me friend requests (even my enemies, sometimes!), because I, according to them, was the first player that "knew how to use Bard"
I got better and better at Bard, up to the point where I was able to carry botlane by myself (mind you, I am still absolutely not even close to being a good *LoL* player, just good at Bard)!
Cut to a month ago, when Bard started gaining extreme popularity:
People were using them, making memes of them, posting clips of their plays and.. It warmed my heart. Bard has become something special to me, more than just an "underrated" hard support. Bard is an experience, and probably the most fun champion in the game. If you want to enjoy League, as a support player, please, give my magical friend a chance, I promise that Bard will NEVER let you down.

I’m very low elo (gold 2) and I don’t see udry as weak, so I want to ask an udyr main why is your champion so weak. For example I’ve had so many udyrs in my game legit run around point and click stun someone auto them to death while being the tankiest player in the game. I played against udyr mid, I didn’t die to him, he was 0/3/1, and he builds full mr and genuinely couldn’t die, he tanked 5 people’s damage and could run around smiling. I’m sure what you’re saying is right and maybe my experiences with the champ are only with good udyrs but still, compared to something like twitch jungle udry doesn’t seem bad at all in my eyes.

In high elo it is near impossible to get a kill with him because everybody takes a champ with more mobility or hard cc.
Also Udyr is pretty useless in teamfights

I've always loved Bard so much, he's my favorite support champion and definitely in my top 5.

As a main support i've played him all the time .... One of the most fun to play champ. I am not playinf LoL for a few yrs now.
Lol I was right on time to get slapped by that meeps damage nerf. After a few months of playing him consecutively, his meep's damage dropped. But he still stings a lot. I build statik shiv and luden's on him. But the damage drop from meeps is pretty damn noticeable and annoying.
Can't believe I hadn't seen this video yet. I've been playing Bard almost since release and this feels like such a nostalgia trip. My opinion is that he's always been pretty broken, but people (myself included) are just not good enough to exploit all of his potential. I mean you can really take the champ into any lane and build literally any combination of items and it will still be viable.

As someone Who plays Bard with Heart from the Start: i would really credit him for being the first champion with "questionable" abilities (an escape that works for both teams, an AoE zhonyas???) And kind of started the line. Right after we got kindred with a similar "both teams use it" ult with a similar "fuck-up" risk, and if I remember correctly the next released support was tahm kench who is also trolly as heck (eat allies,multiplayer TF ult etc)
That being said, I think Bard was always really good, especially when frostfang existed and had the quest on it that was kind of a phage but better concept. It allowed bard to move really fast in teamfights and position himself for Qs, while also survive and it had him do damage to 1v1 adcs, even with the full tank full cdr build I always rocked

When he first released and everyone started saying he was bad, I took it personally a challenge and got good.
Bard is strong in competitive play right now but I would not attribute this solely to his countless buffs. In no small part his prevalence in pro play is also due to the common adc picks. He pairs well with every meta adc, Caitlyn, Ashe and Senna all are decent lanes and you can play Bard with Ezreal or Kalista, too. The latter two lanes arent the best but they are okay and have been picked plenty of times in pro play with decent success.
The previous meta with Kaisa, Xayah botlanes made Bard super hard to play, both champs can easily evade Bards crowd control and do not like to have a Bard as their support either.
I'm looking forward to Worlds with Bard as a good support pick because even though I'm not a Bard main I always had a soft spot for the guy. His kit is just so unique and so much fun that I want to see more of him.
Plus playstyle has changed as well, ppl roam a lot more now, and support players are way better even in soloq.
