- Manoj Bajpayee is one of the most celebrated actors in the Hindi film industry. From his debut in 1994 with Bandit Queen, the actor proved that he is on his way to pave an unconventional path for himself. It took Manoj Bajpayee four years to win his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Satya and there has been no stopping for him ever since. The actor, with films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Aligarh, Gali Gulieyan and Sonchirya in his kitty over the last few years, continues a golden run at the movies even today.
With so much expertise to his name, Manoj Bajpayee makes for one actor who can school the young generation on how to make the audience feel the concoction of emotions without trying too hard. He can make you happy, sad and can make you laugh without too much effort and that’s what makes him an ace actor.
Catching up with him for a master class, we got Manoj Bajpayee to talk about success and failure with budding actors. Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillaai moderated the super session and Manoj shared his experiences, the method he follows and how he keeps up with the new generation of actors and still gives them a run for their money.

O goodnesss.. this ws a very beautiful experience as a viewer. I dont even remmbr wen ws the last tym a proper n genuine actor actualy shared a real outlook he has with fellow people. This interactive session with ManojB reveals a very strong truth abt the rest f the interview-programs which is-- since they myt not b having actual sense of exploring the geniuses f actors like ManojB , they dont have proper questns to ask him..even wen this genius actor s so very ready to have interactive diagnosis into the craft of acting n methods. he his open broad attitude, thrashing all possible ego or stardom n precisely pointing out the prime problem of hindi cinema n the need of utilizing n putting into best use wen talking of his contemporary actors, whom he has tagged as geniuses of the era.

Between hindi and tamil it is tamil which has managed to minimise the diff between commercial and arthouse...I watch and enjoy both but I feel like tamil has had more of a journey in the last 40 years and got a much wider range today of actors writers stories and approaches to movie making.

I hope you take this as healthy criticism.
First, the camera work is not so good as it could've been (given the same budget, equipment and manpower). The placed cameras are not balanced and are tilted in some way or the other. The framing is misaligned at so many places. The main wide camera itself is slanted. The audience Q&A cuts are too shaky to be considered for viewing.
Second, the moderator seems to be lousy (he might not be, but to a viewer, he does seem to be). Not just his body language, but also his fiddly movements distract us a little from the importance of the discussion.
Third, the structure seems a bit haphazard and makes the interview feel incomplete.
Fourth, a much-needed interview of Manoj Bajpayee. Thank you for doing this.

My life's first scene, first shot was with k k Menon ' unfortunately the camera was just three feet from me , and ACTION , director said , phone ,( AUR MAINE UTHA LIYA ) but the scene was to let the phone rings for a while , but jaise hi director ne bola phone" maine unki baat hi nahi complete hone di , REASON camera meri kanpatti par laga diya , aur samne k k Menon , aur jo maine non performance ka itihaas racha hai main hi janta hun , halanki main waisa thha nahi par ek baar agar nervous ho gaya toh phir main andar tak ho jata hun , Bahut time lagata hai sambhalne me , ...halanki phir maine jab TV kiya toh best thha' tab maine ek key khoj liya thha k main saath wale logon KO convince karunga unke lite acting karunga, par meri uss ek ghalti ki saza mujhe yun mili k gangs of wasypur me mujhe nahi Liya gaya...jaise hi main chabra ki office me gaya , ek admi k munh se nikla arrre GUDDU, aur dusre ne usse chup rahne ko kaha mujhe bahar laya aur bola k main bulaunga , maine uss admi ko bola k yarr mistake ho gaee thhi mujh se abhi dekho maine TV me Bahut achcha kiya hai ' par ......shayad usne bola arre chutya hai ,aur Maine ya toh suna ya kalpana kiya pata nahi ....moral of the story 'pahli baar chuke toh phir Bahut lamba intezaar karna padega , aur ye intezar jitna lamba hoga tum utne chhote hote jaoge.

People intellectualise acting too much.. some people are naturally more expressive and confident in emoting. We see them everywhere in our classrooms to family members. Some pursue that ability as a profession and make it big. End of story.
