"Sometimes I feel that Irrfan did his job so effortlessly that we forgot that he was not that character." - Spot on. I feel like this is the primary reason why that after his death many people felt like they have lost a family member yet they don't know that they considered him as one. He so effortlessly blended in our everyday worldview which can only be consciously felt so deeply by its absence.

Honestly I have tried to live this charecter of ashok. His English has an impeccable bengali accent. I am sure this charecter is more bengali as in the cultural way of life (like their house in Kolkata bit broken and messy, the jamai soshti handfan with red dips on the ends, the curly usually uncombed hair, liberal traits in an orthodox setup, the loose pants style usually famous in Mithun Chakraborty movies in 90s , the shy romance, square and thick fram) than most people who are Bengalis like myself. Sometimes unknowingly I try to walk smoke and try to look( I never shave off my moustache trim it and keep it sharp) like ashok. It's weird but I find it quite liberating. I truely feel the pangs of separation from this amazing actor. Little would he ever know how deep he has impacted my charecter. Haha. Life's amazingly uncertain.

I was having my breakfast in my hostel, getting late to go to library. So i thought to watch a short video on RUclips to give me company while i eat. But i wanna tell you that i just took a bite of my bread butter and started the video. And after 10 minutes i realised i have been just holding my bread in my hand (with just the initial bite) and my mind was imagining what you were conveying.
I know I am getting lil emotional but i think this clip deserves much more. Thank you so much to IRRFAN Sir and to you who made this video by clubbing your beautiful story telling art (pardon me... I dont know your). name).

You have done an incredible analysis. There are 3 scenes of Irrfan sir, from 3 movies, which will remain with me forever
    :
    1. "Everyday since then has been a gift..." says Irrfan to his son (Kal Penn), as he explains the rationale behind the name 'Gogol'
    (Movie: The Namesake)
    2. "Don't you ever cut your bloody vegetables on the office files" Irrfan chides Nawazuddin Siddiqui, without looking up at him
, while just having saved him from getting fired (Movie: The Lunchbox)
    3. "Burden, burden... emotional blackmail karke pata nahi parents ko kya sukh milta hai" Irrfan stops the car, visibly irritated, and looks neutrally to say it out, almost like a soliloquy (Movie: Piku)

Both played Bengali uncles of totally different kind. While Irrfan's character in Namesake was calm, subtle yet vulnerable at times, Bachchan's character was that of a loud mouth, cranky, critical, living life on his own principles. Even though I agree Irrfan Khan's level of acting is higher than BigB, but still comparisons shouldn't be made between 2 characters because the characters are poles apart at the very script level.

I am so glad you made this video, I hv always felt namesake to be irfan's greatest silent performances ever and I am not taking credit away from Jhumpa, mira or tabbu it was one of the best portrays of a Bengali NRI family and the migration that happened in 80s, but irfan was the best in that movie, those long pauses, longing and expected looks, not enough credit is given to tht performance of his

Really cant get over , watching his movies again and again, just to see those subtle and nuanced expressions of this legend!! You have done a good job! The point that you made on Piku was right...he was living in that character...there is one scene in which he talks to his mother, the pitch, tone .....but bollywood is about stardom, lineage , and he was right that he wanted to do something with substance...he did magic and left with beautiful memories and moments that one would cherish in reel and real...

I really loved the way you broke down each scene and the way Irrfan acted to give justice to the scene. Somehow, I always felt that acting is so easy but now I realize the effort that goes into each scene. The little things that aren't noticeable is really important and it's something that builds the stage for that scene. Thank you for this enlightenment.

Thank you making this appreciation video., had me in tears!.
This film and Irrfan’s character strikes a deep chord within me..all his films have some lines and scenes which are so deep and hard hitting that they move us completely..Namesake is one of those rare gems..One has to be a really genuine, authentic human being to be able to bring such characters to life and make them so memorable and real. Long life His Highness and our dearest Sir Irrfan Khan!🌈💐

So beautifully u have explained every bit of it. I agree with you that in piku amitabh was nothing infront of him in acting,nd not even in playing a bengali character. Irrfan is class and his acting skills r beyond perfection. Very few stands infront of him in acting regardless any age or experience. Thanks for this one, nice work. Please make few more such videos on Irrfan's movies. I feel more nd more of his presence through all these. Not just an actor but as a human being also he was beyond perfection.
