The rich kid tries to impose his superiority (his idea of happiness) over the poor kid by showing off his materialistic possessions to feel good about himself. Thus he picks up a "fight". He tries to break him as hard as he can. However, the poor kid doesn't lose his spirit and decides to keep himself happy with everything "little" he has. In the end, the rich kid accepts his defeat with a realization that he's not content. Also, him withdrawing himself from his toys, and the tower falling is shown as a metaphor for his defeat and his inability to find joy despite having "everything". "Two" explains the duality of happiness. One that comes from possessions and the other that comes from within.

It's sad how many viewers don't realise that this short film is a subtle portrayal of the *American-Vietnam War* 🇺🇸🇻🇳 by Ray with classic usage of symbolism and metaphors.
At the beginning, look at the *Mickey Mouse cap* and *Coca Cola* symbolising the US. The rich kid is shown to have all the materialistic joys of life yet is insecured by the poor kid's happiness (Much like the US intrusion in Vietnam)....His *loud toys* symbolise the advanced weapons against whom the simple flute, kite etc. is no match..... But at the end, we all know what happened in history, as the rich kid sits lost in the music of the flute and his "toys" crumble down...👏👏👏

VFX artists are contributing more in a film than a filmmaker which is really awful. Baji Rao Mastani, Padmavat in Bollywood and Mank in Hollywood. But on those days Ray, Kubrick, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Kurosawa used to achieve special effects manually on their own with meticulous dedication and hard work which they used to do themselves. This had made them the Real Masters of Cinema.Kudos.

Few other countries might remember Satyajit Ray, but we(Bengalis or Indian) have happily moved to some other environment or other planet. Today's every box-office hit Bengali or Indian film is nowhere near to Ray's any film. That describes everything. Needless to say, how "Two" bears same kind of hallmark like any other film of Ray with his priceless direction.

It could also be so that the street kid was unable to introduce himself properly and was hence, just used in the film without crediting.

Whenever I recommend someone Ray's films, I try to include this film within the top 5 films. Not only because it's an excellent piece of work, but also this film is an example on how beautifully metaphors can be portrayed on screen, without sophistication and ornaments in such a short time frame. Two has always been one of my favourite Ray's works. Glad that Academy restored it.

Poor kid became sad as he realizes that he can't fight with bow & arrow with a kid carrying a gun.
