I’m a retired 33 year flight attendant and loved my job! I agree with this young lady 100%.
All that are just beginning your exciting career, I wish you the best! Enter this time of your life with a open mind, positive attitude, and always a smile on your face! Blessings 🌻
hello madam
Wow retired at 33? I'm 33 and now thinking about getting in. Did you start a family before?
Congratulations on your retirement! What an amazing career! I'm heading to training in a week and I'm so excited!!! Any more advice or notes to pass on for success? :)
💜🙏🏽
I’m 18 fresh out of high school and I want to be a flight attendant. Your advice has really made a huge impact sis in my life ❤️ God bless you.
Same
Wish I would have pursued this earlier in my life. Go for it!!
I am 60 and have my first interview next week! Let’s see if I make it. 😅
@@bettysink3615 did u make it,m
@@bettysink3615 what happened?
I absolutely loved being a FA. It was my mid life crisis job for 20 years. You covered a lot of stuff that new hires just don’t get in the beginning. Thank you for your wonderful help for all the future FAs. I never regretted doing this. I wish I had not retired but my health was declining. I’m much better now
Was your health declining due to being a flight attendant?
I flew for 42 yrs. At 62 yrs old. Had to retire early for my mom’s caregiving. I was really tired of working full time and coming home and take care of myself, mom and my pets. Many of my friends were still flying and I wish I would have stayed and continued until 66. The pay changed a lot and I was able to hold any schedules I wanted and have holidays off. But family came first.
Yes, there were many people who complained about their job and management. But I enjoyed flying and met so many good people and bad people.
It is the best job for people who love to travel and enjoy working with the public and good money for all the perks like staying in nice hotels and exotic destinations.
the pay sounds chaotic and unfair, the schedule sounds chaotic, this helps me bc i have a mental illness and was looking into flight attendant work but this prob wouldnt work for me. THANKS FOR DOING THIS!!!
“ it’s not all Paris and Cancun” 👏🏾😵💫
Omg for the people in the back!!! I basically live in Arkansas and Idaho part time 😭 ✈️
another i want to say about the lonilness aspect was that i'm always alone and despite being around people, i'm always alone in my world. so this being always lonely is nothing new to me, i've always been there.
Omg I completely understand. Even thought I was alone in feeling alone lol. Tbh, I self isolate a lot by choice. I tend to feel no one understands me, my thinking, my behaviors, battling anxiety and depression. A simple trip to the grocery store or getting gas can be a struggle. While everyone was complaining about the pandemic and quarantining, I was in pure bliss 🤭 sometimes I have to push myself to get up and just get out more. That's actually part of the reason I am pursing a career as a FA, to get out my comfort zone. Anyway, that loneliness aspect of the job didn't really phase me either 😉
Wishing you the best, peace & happiness 🙏🏾💛✨️
I just quit after 16 years! Let me tell you! I feel ot was such a relief! My body; my emotions! Wow! Amazing
I’m in a weird funk right now with this job. The first year and half was AMAZING. The past six months have been brutal.
My mental health took a toll. I’ve worked the nastiest crews who are extremely negative. Experiencing a lot of super senior people who bully us and tell us, how horrible this job is. Some flights have been rough. Some days I feel like people look down on this profession. Honestly, it’s been mostly dealing with crews.
Im only 2 years in. But I’ve come across so many senior people who talk about the good old days, and say this job sucks now.
However, I don’t understand and I can’t stand the negativity. It’s putting me just into a major depression. We have this job that allows to experience so many things, be independent, create our own schedules.
I worked a 9-5 before being a flight attendant so I know what it’s like to not have flexibility, and freedom.
Honestly, I’ve always wanted to be a flight attendant. I worked so hard in training to get here. I’m trying to not let the negativity and misery of super senior people impact me.
But when you’re surrounded by it, it’s hard.
Anyway, sorry for the rant!! 😂😂
Just got to keep on pushing through.
Keep going these people sound miserable and tired of there job spreading bad experiences and negativity that’s contagious. STAY STRONG don’t let them get you sick down, don’t forget your blessings and I send you love and happiness
Feeling everything you said!!
Omg the crew room and cs....seriously overwhelming. And yes so lonely and I too suffer from depression and anxiety. All that with the struggle of trying to keep healthy habits....eating, getting the rest, and working out. Seriously rethinking my decision to become a fa. Great of you to educate those pursuing this profession.
I can't even remember the last time I went into the crew room. Because I'm local based and don't commute, and we have a electronic system to check in as well as get messages and info, at my airline, I really don't have a reason to go into the crew room. It makes an incredible difference starting your day without the unsolicited negativity and toxicity that can permeate a crew room.
A fine video as always. I remember when you made your depression video and it really helped me out. I battled depression for a while and when I saw that video I turned myself around got into weightlifting and now I’m doing better than ever. I really thank you for that because if not for that video I wouldn’t be here breathing today. Thank you Charli. As always our love and prayers follow you. God bless.
You seem like such a sweet lady. I absolutely love you smile. I have the upmost respect for flight attendance. Thank you so much for all your hard work to make our flights safe and enjoyable. I am a retired fireman and now a deputy Coroner so I personally know how it is to be the forgotten person so to speak. So, thank you again, all of you are such awesome people.
Those are two amazing jobs! Thank you so much for what you do! And thanks for the sweet comment✨
I think people in your current position often and always hope and pray you're taking the best care possible of your mental health. 🫶🏾
Hi there
Discovered you today after searching videos for Patient Care Technician.
You are so conscientious and relatable and just adorable!
So happy for you in this new career; you seem so much more expressive and lively in the flight attendant videos.
Best to you ❤
Loneliness Anxiety depression and abandonment issues I can definitely relate !! Thanks for mentoring that part lol
you're so sweet! thank you for the information and realness ❤️❤️❤️
Love your vlogs, and your transparency. You’re amazing
I liked the video good insight...I'm on the 3rd phase of a face to face interview, and I believe this is really not just a job but a lifestyle. I appreciate your honesty👌
I agree with everything you said! The loneliness especially. I think you really have to realize on reserves you’re going to be spending your holidays alone especially if you’re used to being with family. Your first year with that is very lonely and hard
Girl thanks so much for this video! So helpful! Trying to be a FA, I am waiting on my passport to apply. Ever considered doing a video for tips for getting accepted in as a FA?
Love this ! I got my CJO a month ago and will be training in January. Mixed emotions for sure
You’re a delight & it’s easy to see why you were recruited to be a flight attendant! Such great advice!!!
Thank you!
I am so thankful for your advice. Good to know.
Girl I’m from Alabama! I’m thinking about beginning the process to become a flight attendant. Thank you for the information!
Thanks for The 411. You gave some noteworthy and great insight considering all the pros and cons of this job. Thanks 👍🏾
Omg everything you said was spot on, especially the living situation thing, I can’t figure out a good set up for the life of me 🤦♀️
That’s the part that concerns me, because we all need to know where we’re living etc.
Please make that video about dealing with depression and anxiety while being a flight attendant 🙏🏻
Thank you for this video! It's super duper helpful! I'm in RES. Thinking of moving over. Same company! 💕
Come on over!❤️😂
I love your energy and your perseverance despite all the tough aspects of the job-your passion really comes through and that's awesome. I'm from Alabama soon to work for a regional airline close to D.C. Hopefully the positives outweigh the negatives bc it seems like there's a TON of turnover, at least for regional FA's. Keep crushing it
Oh wow, where in Alabama ( if you feel comfortable saying)? And yes it’s most flight attendants dream to go to a mainline so regional turnover is very high!
I was born in Mobile and grew up in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach
Thank u so much for this video!!! I’m planning on being a FA after i graduate from college!! Thank u 🙏
Wow, this is insightful! Thank you!!!
Love your personality!
Awe thank you!!!
Great video thanks for sharing. FYI the crew room is sometimes mic'd up.. Management snooping. Step light.
I want to say thank you thank you for sharing your perspectives. I'm very excited for this job, but I know it's not all sunshine and like to be realistic. I'm going to training next month 🤞🏾 thank you for your honesty regarding this, and I'll look to see if you have a video already out on budgeting as that's a concern of mine. New subbie now 🤍
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! Id love to do a video on budgeting! Let me know if there is any specific topics youd like me to cover!
Please can you tell me a bit about the training
The requirements
Hi, do you know if they allow you to work part-time? And do you have to know how to swim to be a Fly attendant ? 💞
Im in the interview process right now ! Your videos are so helpful!
How did it go?
I'm curious as to where you are now 😊
Yesss luv ! You’re so beautiful!
I’m literally a flight attendant myself just completed my probation and everything you said is so true 🤣 but this shit is addicting not even gone lie
How long is the probation period if you don't mind sharing? I imagine it varies by company/airline
@@Ashley-og9ti yes no problem with my airline it’s 6 months and we have a straight reserve system
You've both called it addicting but can you go into detail about why? What are the addicting/enjoyable aspects of it?
@@SuraiyahFitnessI would like to know too
appreciate your honesty
First, you look amazing. Second, you are the real deal. Third, thanks for pointing out how lonely life can be as a flight attendant and things we don’t think about.
Thank you!
I akin being a flight attendant to being a truck driver. Especially if you work for a regional carrier and you're the only attendant. The only difference is you sleep in a hotel instead of a truck bed at the end of the day.
Great job!!
aahhhhhh the cutest baby face !!! youre gorgeous!
I got invited to training with a regional, and I've been binging flight attendant videos. I LOVE your energy! The way you ended this video made me smile. I hope you are senior line #12 now :)
tbh I don't know how I came across your page! You're beautiful and loving the content! x
"Cause I'm on probation...so I can't be taking those chances"😂❤ That would be me all the way.😅
Amazing video. Thnaks for your insight.
I live in Montgomery and routinely fly out of MGM, when you mentioned it, I snort laughed🤣🤣
Beautiful you glow!!
You said it all girl.... in Nigeria some airlines pay per sector or a basic amount (no allowance at all)
Tysm for sharing ❤️
Tysm for watching ❤️
Great content
FABULOUS VIDEO! Thanks for your great insights! When you choose your trips, is it possible to not work on Sundays? I don't mind working on holidays, but I don't work on Sundays. Just wondering if that is even an option. Thanks for any input that you can give.
Hey girl heyyyy lol I subscribe I hope get to meet you in passing. You spoke to me my soul lol
Oh how sweet! Hopefully so! I love seeing you guys in person!✨💕
One time for that beautiful smile and skin sis. But I was wondering I just got my CJO for a regional 😁, but I don’t plan on giving up my apartment because I just recently renewed my lease , so depending on my base hopefully close to me , I’m thinking of commuting and the hotel situation. So how does staying at the hotel work? Is it free or discounted or certain ones? The crash pads to me are givin and looking worse than dorm room situations😂😂😂. And also , can one have a second job? I’ve heard conflicting things and I’ve always been one to keep at least two or three . Hustla baby 😂😂😂. Talk to you soon 😊
Can you explain feeling lonely a little bit more? I have applied for a flight attendant job and I'm scared im going to be bored and lonely and sad on layovers. Do you not go hang out with your co-workers? I would love a video about feeling lonely and how layover life actually is because it's so glamorized in movies!
I will go out with my crewmembers, but sometimes many of them are jackasses, annoying, or old ladies, who just want to go to sleep
@@ajw_3153hahaha
I’m 23 and still fresh from high school and want to pursue this career, just making sure I can do it before going for it😢 but I really do love being a flight attendant
awesome video, I have anxiety, and applied
I live in KS and I'm about 20 mins from Gardner. Ummmm nothing is in that city😂 Great video❤
yeah i am thinking of being a flight attendant and iof course, i would love to know all the ups and downs and what it all involves. so i appreciate this. i do feel that there's a lot o want to do more research on, but i'm feeling more towards this path now. i was thinking of nurse but the courses i was taking was killing me so i'm giving up on that. i'm not saying flight attendant won't be hectic, but at least it's physiuc al and not mental headache. then again, it'll be a mental headache i bet anyway. lol.
It’s way more mental than physical.
@@CharliEdwards i figure it could be. lol.
@@CharliEdwards I could handle the loneliness
Thank you I'm in saint louis mo.and I would definitely like to do this as well
You definitely should make that video. You mentioned in number seven.
Love this video thank you ,
I have a question ? How much around do flights Attendand make if they work as full time ?
Happy holidays ✨✨✨🎊🎉🥳
LOL the mayor saw your video and emailed you hahaha noooo
Thank you so much for making this video it helpful me, I'm in the medical field now but I always wanted to be a flight attend do you know it you can work part time?
Having anxiety are there ever moments of fear dealing with flight. Like a plane not well maintained
Enoying your videos! where did you get your hair?
I have anxiety and I don’t think I could deal with all of the negative coworkers. I think I would have to go to the airport chapel and just meditate on God’s word on a daily basis for my sanity and peace of mind.
I would love to see a video about the lonely factor. This is something I have wondered and worried about personally.
I have been in the aviation industry since 2006 and my dream was to become inflight. ( crew -flight attendant) anywho: throughout my years I have done various roles. I stopped working in 2018( health issues) than COVID. Now I work with a regional airline. I love the lifestyle and have travel a lot. Two of my best friends who started with me back in 06. Are now both flight attendants for two different airlines. One is mainline and one is subsidiary. &
The first question I asked was do you see the people you train with?
Both told me. Their trainee suggest to bond with their peers to help along the journey.
so than I said so every flight is a new colleague? They both said YES. Mainline flight attendant said ... you can bid with your buddy. They keep insisting I go for it.
And that's one of my main concerns.
My colleagues tell me to cross over to inflight. My airline does not provide housing for crew. My airline isn't American based.
So for me that's the only part I dislike about the career. You'll deal with strangers and some of those strangers you'll see frequently. Similar to when I check in those guest who fly every 3 months.
But to think in each hotel. I'll be placed with a new colleague and based elsewhere. Makes it seem highly lonely.
The best advice is. You will truly know if it's for you ... until you actually become one.
That was a good statement. I often think about that and I'm in aviation. I don't hear this statement as often. People only ask about the glitz and glamour aspect to it. …
The crew room sounds like the teachers' lounge. 😄
love your video, you are so adorable and bubbly.
Thank you 🤗
Hi Charlie, love your vlogs thanks. Qantas based FA here. D’you get crew meals on domestic flights? And D’you get crew rest on long domestic days?
Charli Hi can you tell your listeners where you get your wigs? They looked so nice on you. Thanks
You’re video was super informational! I do have a question about bringing family or significant others during layovers. How does that work? Do they fly for free or get a discount?
Most airlines let you have your parents and 1 other person on your benefits to fly for free.
@@CharliEdwards Only parents and no other family members?
@@theghostoftama7013 children under 25 I believe. Parents. Domestic partner. ( spouse) Travel companion ( whomever for that year) and depending on your airline. Like 6-8 buddy passes. Within the US free and international you pay taxes.
Hello can you please tell which aap you are using gor making thumbnails please
Yeah this my nex job
Wondering if it's the same with European airlines? . But i guess so. I'll be working for Swiss starting January.
The major did not email you !!! Lmfao that’s hilarious
I'm an older woman customer service is my passion I have 8 yrs till I retire from my current job I'm interested in becoming a flight attendant to have something else to do. Or I can resign now. I'm 56 what do you think I should do?
Can you make a video on living situation? I have a face to face interview in Seattle and I’m from florida. Idk where to begin.
Will do!
oh wow
I currently work at a major airline and I wish I never took this job! 🤦🏾♀️since flying I’ve developed severe depression, anxiety, uncontrollable acne and I’ve been hospitalized multiple times from passing out in flight. This job will literally kill your spirit and drain you. I’m not myself anymore. I have personal goals in fitness and can’t even stay consistent in training because I’m always so sick. I’m currently working on leaving to follow my dreams and take back control of my life. Start living life again and feeling present. 💕
That’s awful. I’m sorry that’s has been your experience. It’s definitely not for everyone. I pray you find something that makes you happy!✨
@@CharliEdwards I never even imagined it would have a bad side to it. I really commend the people who can do it. And thank you! 🙏🏾💕
I’m praying that you will find yourself again and find happiness. Wishing you nothing but the best in everything! 🙏🏽❤️
@@brittneyg.5677 aww thanks love! That means a lot. I’m heading in the right direction. 🙏🏾💕
@@SashaMJayhi so sorry to hear about your horrible experiemce. Have you chnaged professions yet? And do you have any children?
Loved this honesty. About the complaining, without being rude, I’d have to ask, didn’t you know this before you started? Or, Didn’t you sign up for this?
I'm in the interview process with Piedmont Airlines
Tips on making it through training if you are a bad test taker… I’m decent but
With the pay only being while your on the plan is there any money issues that any FA as had and did y’all ever have to get a 2nd part time job
just discovered the channel..... and subscribed. Great video (my first).
Welcome aboard!
I would love to get more insight on doing this job with anxiety and depression, bc that's exactly my case and I'm considering this field. I would love your insight if that's not too personal, thank you
I'm the same as you
I’ve been flying for 4 years and something now, 1st reason makes me really wnna quiet is ANXIETY , when im on reserve line or hone standby i feel so stressed if they will call me for a flight or not so i can not sleep thinking of that, and the delays and many reasons aaaah
2 chimes 🎵
Thinking about being a flight attendant. How often are you home during the week?
Me personally 9 full days off a month. Not including when I’m home for a night between 2 trips.
Good question
Do you provide any mentoring for new flight attendants?
I really want to do this but don’t know where or how to start
Hello, how far have you gone?
I have a question. Are flight attendants required to wear makeup? Also, I would love a video about the other living arrangement options (that's not a crashpad).
None of the major US airlines or their subsidiaries require makeup(except maybe for certain groups like brand ambassadors). And thank you so much for your interest in the living arrangements video! I’ll make sure to put it down on my list to film soon!
@@CharliEdwards I also would second a living arrangements video, as that's something I'm also nervous about :)
@@CharliEdwards So lipstick is no longer a requirement?
SORRY I'm totally binging all of your videos right now, but I wonder how long do you have to stay at the base you get placed at out of training before you can transfer?
Thanks for all the sweet comments! I will definitely catch up on them soon. I haven’t really looked into it but you can transfer while on probation. You just can’t transfer to another place that you were already offered during training.
Hey girly! 3 months!
Can you elaborate on the problems with the living situation? I want to be a flight attendant but i dont live near any hubs so im confused why it wouldnt be smart to snag an apparentment near one?
Thanks for the Video
I have recently turned 25 years old
And i would like to be a flight attendant
But i don't know if it is late for me to start my career now
Please Do you have an advice for me
Thanks in advance
I’m highly considering becoming a flight attendant. Although I do have kids . Do you think it’s a job for women with children ?
I know lots of mom/dad flight attendants! I think it depends on your children and your support system. This is definitely something I should do some research on and make a video about.🤔
With the hours you work, would it be sustainable to work another job at the same time? Say a retail or fast food worker while also being a flight attendant?
No because those jobs expect you to have full availability and aren’t flexible. An FA would just pick up extra shifts. Vast pay difference there too.
Personally I disagree. I know plenty of FA that work retail and fast food.
@@Andrewmusic731 if you're not with a mainline and based in a busy city. One of my friends does DoorDash. When he isn't flying.
Ok so i know this video was made a year ago, but with so many things you mentioned not being super pleasant (extreme loneliness, hard on the body, toxic work environments, etc aren't exactly things that one can just ignore or sweep under the rug), could you or any other flight attendants please share what the "addictive" or really enjoyable parts are, cuz... 😵💫
If getting paid to fly around the world for work and flying for leisure for free doesn’t sound enjoyable to you then don’t do it love🤷🏾♀️
As soon as you start working, you’re able to take someone with you?
Do they pay for that person’s flight and accommodation as well?
You add them as a travel companion and they fly for free on standby
Thanks for the perspective. I'm considering it as a second career. My age starts with a 5. 😱. (I'm in great shape tho. Low carb.) So can you share WHY it's addictive? What do you LOVE about being a flight attendant? Thanks!
Oooo oo me too. Pls Charli. Need a new big change and have easy access to airport near me.!!!
Somebody i kmow just started at 62
Do you see a lot of people quit ?
i’m a flight attendant and i get paid for boarding, so i guess that depends on which airline you fly for
So do I. As stated in the video, this was filmed before any US airline was paying for boarding.
Which airline are you with?
I have two kids . A 13 year old and 11. Is it better not to even applied to become a flight attendant ?
