See how you said you had a boyfriend the entire time you did it. My girl's joining BA cabin crew, I know you touched on it in the video but, is it tough to keep the relationship going in this kind of job?
Not sure if I can be of any help but I passed my assessment day, and wanted to share some advice. From what I can tell, there is a fair amount of luck involved. You can do everything perfectly, and still fail. With only so many positions, they can only have so many people being hired. This is why it’s important to keep trying even after failure. I’m not sure if you are referring to the online assessment or the in person one, but I will assume you are referring to the in person assessment. BA are extremely strict about standards, so was your outfit professional? Did you have any mishaps with your hair, clothes or shoes that could have been noticed? How did you engage with the other people in the assessment with you? Building rapport is important for crew, so this is what they look out for. If you are observant during the day, you will notice the staff keeping an eye on you and others, which I believe they are taking notes on your conduct, appearance, and sociability at that time. Were you socialising with everyone in your team and still looking perfect? During the assessment tests, did you try to show your skills in the team? Even recognising other people’s great ideas goes a long way. Regardless of the answer your team comes up with, they are taking notes to see if you are helping others, commending their ideas, or being confident, throwing the first line for the rest of the team to add to. They look for good teamwork qualities, so think about how you can show this. Maybe a good idea is reminding everyone in your group when you have two minutes left and that you need to come up with an answer to present (check your watch, not a phone for the time). During the rapid fire questioning, we’re you completely honest about your experience? I’m sure they are able to tell if someone is honest or lying. I’m not saying you did, but some people will lie to get ahead, and I’m sure they notice this. During these questions too, did you have good experience to tell them about? They want to hear about your proven abilities in certain scenario’s, so perhaps during this time before your next try, you can get into a career that is similar and gain experience? I came from the hotel industry, which has a few transferable skills. During the questions as well, were you smiling? They want to see that you can stay composed during pressured situations. Passengers look to you for reassurance, so if you are looking nervous during the interview, how will you handle a real crisis? When given the chance to ask questions, did you ask anything meaningful? They want people who ask the important questions that show you have thought meaningfully about the role. They want people who will be excited about moving up and building a career after all. This is all anecdotal, as it was based on my experience and I can’t provide concrete answers. Tests change as well, so don’t assume my experience will be the same as yours, even though I haven’t provided specific examples of the tests I went through. I hope this advice helps you next time around though! Just keep at it, and if you’re dedicated, you’ll manage it! P.S. even if you’re an introvert, be bubbly. It comes with experience, but meeting the people on the assessment day is nice. It’s the first taste of crew life you get, so savour it! Engaging with everyone will help calm your nerves too. Just don’t relax too much, you want to be at your best, especially with all those eyes on you! Good luck for next year!!
Airlines get the cabin crew positioning wrong. It should be the senior one who has the more difficult positions, as they are more qualified and experienced to deal with the trails and tribulations that may come, whilst the juniors should have easier positions to manage and where less things go wrong, as they will be more error prone.
Might be a silly question but when you do a “6 day” or “3 day” etc.. do you only get paid for the time you’re on the flight or also time you’re out of the flight on the trip?
I flew for Emirates and we were given a cash allowance for food, the more days you stayed, the more the allowance was. For example if you did a 24 hour layover in the UK you’d get around £50-£60 depending on the hotel, location and timing. Now the allowance is given in their salary. I’d assume BA is similar.
Yes you have to live in Dubai as they’re a Dubai based airline but it just makes the job even better as you’re closer to places like Asia and Australia if you want to travel on your time off and your days off are spent in the sun, you’ve always got something to do. Europe destinations are layovers unlike UK airlines where you turnaround. Most of the turnarounds in Emirates aren’t really places that most people would want to see anyway, I.e pakistan/Saudi Arabia/Afghanistan etc etc. UK flights are also really easy to swap on to because nobody wants them. I used to do 1-2 flights a month to Manchester to see my mum. I left Emirates a couple of years ago because of covid, however I was leaving anyway due to having a baby but I still live in Dubai and honestly I would never move back to the UK unless I really had to. Best decision I ever made working for Emirates. Hope that gives you some insight as I know moving to another country is really daunting.

I don’t think you need GCSEs but try and get some experience in a customer facing role or try applying for a travel and tourism course at college, then try applying to budget airlines like easyjet or Ryanair, there might be a better chance with them but good luck and no harm in giving it a try applying to British airways!

Engaging with everyone will help calm your nerves too. Just don’t relax too much, you want to be at your best, especially with all those eyes on you! Good luck for next year!!
Beautiful in the proper British accent 😮😮😮
My daughter is an air hostess for BA she loves it...
I used to be mixed fleet from Heathrow and it is a 9 day Singapore Sydney and it was the best trip! Everyone wanted them xx
Spoke to new air hostess at BA she said her salary starting is £38,000 per annum. I didn’t really believe that but is that true?
canary island flights are the worst, flying back is always so turbulent aswell
Airlines get the cabin crew positioning wrong. It should be the senior one who has the more difficult positions, as they are more qualified and experienced to deal with the trails and tribulations that may come, whilst the juniors should have easier positions to manage and where less things go wrong, as they will be more error prone.
Might be a silly question but when you do a “6 day” or “3 day” etc.. do you only get paid for the time you’re on the flight or also time you’re out of the flight on the trip?
Big airlines pay you while your on the trip too
I flew for Emirates and we were given a cash allowance for food, the more days you stayed, the more the allowance was. For example if you did a 24 hour layover in the UK you’d get around £50-£60 depending on the hotel, location and timing. Now the allowance is given in their salary. I’d assume BA is similar.
@@auroraaxel5494 did you have to live in Dubai for emirates or did you get to stay in England ?
@@auroraaxel5494 oh really. I never knew emirates staff never wanted to fly to the uk. So what do you do in Dubai now your not a flight attendant

I remember lady cabin crew working for B.A where very hands on in business class.
where is the bridge of her nose?😦
i would love to do this but i have no gcse or work experience but i'm so confident and bubbly ugh
I don’t think you need GCSEs but try and get some experience in a customer facing role or try applying for a travel and tourism course at college, then try applying to budget airlines like easyjet or Ryanair, there might be a better chance with them but good luck and no harm in giving it a try applying to British airways!
