Geez, you have some pretty AMAZING bands here! I like Narnia, and just found out about Draconian (Dick turpin) from this, so thanks a lot! Keep on rocking!
AWESOME!!!
These are really cool!! I had never heard any of Narnia's music. Don't worry darthy0da, I was confused too, they are cool though!
the 2 final song is POWER then I have
dude thanks for the song will add them 2 my CD
Olympos mons sounds nice... Gotta check it out.
When you listen to a large number of bands you start to see patterns. Don't worry it'll come to you.
great bands.only two its missing though are rhapsody and luca turilli and then it would be complete.thanks for the videos.
It's very good that they don't play a similar music, e.g. both playing power metal or gothic=) They wouldn't be mixed up.
i love power metal!! makes me want to grab my battle axe and charge into battle!!
Alestorm Pirate metal? Sweet.
It's just like any other Power Metal.
magica sounds really nice ....
holy crap narnia metal
como se llama la primera cancion q le pones??????
la del fondo del 0.01-0.11?????
Es Of Treasure, de Alestorm. Lo dice en la descripción
wow. magica has a female singer! bravo :O
Hey guys, how can you tell which genre a band belongs too, it's all the same to me?
Alestorm's singer really sounds like a heavy metal pirate. LOL XD
theres a little bit of everything , not just power metal
what's the name of the song of Alestorm??
Calling them all "heavy metal" is an overgeneralisation but it works. It's true to people who don't care for bigger differences, but seeing as there have been many bands that follow these certain patterns someone felt a need to differentiate them a little further.
Not sure who you mean exactly.
Well Yngwie is playing heavy metal that some call power metal, but in the end power metal IS a subgenre/derivation/extension of heavy metal (which is the encompassing term for all metal, but recently this rule of thumb got hard to apply to extreme bands).
I wouldn't rely on wikipedia for information on metal though. It's very biased and misleading. I suggest looking up metal bands on Encyclopaedia Metallum (metal-archives com).
Yngwie is neoclassical but he doesn't focus on power chords as much as power metal bands do. Some call Yngwie neoclassical power metal as well. There are thin lines separating them, but you must understand these bands set out to make music they like, not abide to a genre they read in a magazine or online. Their music in the end may sound like neoclassical, traditional, speed or thrash oriented...it doesn't have to be black and white, the influences vary as does the music.
Was Magica named after the Dio album?
pero ya oiste la cancion de sacred, esa si esta mas pesada, y con un toke de su sonido reciente, y va a salir en su siguiente disco.
Wikipedia pages, most of them, seem to be maintained by the ppl close to the topic or a part of it. Most of the bands write or hire someone to write their pages for them. It might be a lot of bullshit, but it mentions Anders Johansson of Hammerfall formerly of Yngwie's Rising Force. Anyway, it's not impossible that other members were influenced and achieved the same style and sound as Yngwie, there are many people playing like that and able to setup the sound the same or similar way.
Actually its 'True Scottish Pirate Metal'!!!!!
:D
I don't want to correct you, but Alestorm is Pirate Metal (yes, there is such a thing...) :P
What do you mean? You must've noticed something along the way. I figured you were new to the genre by your comment. I'm not much of a music expert but you can see many bands that are inspired by traditional heavy metal put a lot of focus on guitars and aren't very progressive. Their song patterns get tedious and simple. Neoclassical resembles Bach in guitar form, there's all these crazy scales and harpsichord sampled keyboards. Etc...
After decades of listening, I don't know nor see the difference or patterns.
Yngwie is old, he started back when there was just heavy metal and he's still heavy metal. His new albums are crap, he basically just repeats himself, old stuff is better, but I recognized the very recognizable sounds of how Yngwie sounds while Narnia was playing. On Wikipedia says that some guy who left Rising Force, Yngwie's band, played in Narnia, no wonder it sounds very similar, both in sound and style.
@RobDjinn alestorm is folk power metal
Well, it says awesome power metal bands, right, but Narnia sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen, which I know for sure it's neo classic metal or as Yngwie says heavy metal with classical influence. So, if you don't know which it is how can I. I'm telling you there's no difference between many genres, except death metal and normal metal, speed metal and normal metal, these 4 bands presented here are all heavy metal.
SA WAS a great power metal band, but they're full-on progressive metal since Unia
Alestorm is folk metal.
No, no, I didn't mean black and white as in genres, I meant as a figure of speech. You can never classify metal as something and make it that it has no attributes of anything else. i.e. practically everything is in the grey zone. I'm not so sure about Yngwie since I know only his most familiar work, but his own opinion isn't fact regardless of him playing it. Besides saying "heavy metal with classical influences" doesn't necessarily mean it's not power metal. Google power chords on youtube
Yngwie says he's heavy metal with classical influence, so people attributing something other than that is a bit confusing, don't you think. And what is a power chord, how does it differ from non-power chord? Yngwie uses different guitars he wired differently to sound different, some sound more powerful than the others, but he only states those are different sounds not different powers. Never heard of white metal, but black sounds depressing.
they consider themselves pirate metal
@OphidianLord Obviously you do not know how the Doom and gothic sound like. Or may be you do not know how the power metal is
@shingensdestiny Obviously you do not know how the Doom and gothic sound like. Or may be you do not know how the power metal is
narnia should be meant for the show and stay in the show forever. -.-
Draconian not power metal -____-
Narnia is a christian band '-'
ITS PIRATE METAL
swswg and maruri why does a band "suck" if they play Christian power metal? Would they have sucked if they played Jewish or Buddhist power metal? if you don't agree with their lyrical content then so be it, but don't discount them on that ground alone!
hahah fuckin Alestorm and there pirate metal! ahahaha
@Brokenglass26 they are not even close to a power metal band
