Lol, It's funny hearing all these people go "DRAGONFORCE IS TEH ROXORS!!!!!111!!!one!!!" Yes, Dragonforce is good, but it is deffinately not the be all and end all of powermetal. It's just the one that everyone in the US and Canada knows. Broaden your horizons, and listen to some Angra, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Helloween, or some other bands. There is more than Dragonforce out there, and that's what marcoherrera1 is trying to show you. Kudos on you vids, marcoherrera1.

exactly if someone asks you what music you like, you say metal, then they would say what kind? thats only really when i care to go into detail,power,death,heavy,melodic,symphonic,speed ectect its all metal in the end
Dragonforce was good... 4 years ago that is. Valley Of The Damned was awesome. With the next album they realized that people just liked the sound and they did not need to put any effort in. Thats why they just SUCK now.
I buyed the Olympos Mons cds in their page and it rocks.. and of the "underground" power metal bandas that it's 100% excelent!
But, the sound you have choose "ice and snow.." i prefer "Wanted Man" or "Black" instead..
Hey dude.I havent given Equilibrium hear yet..Do they sound like Suidakra?and yeah dude..there shouldnt be a rivalry between classic genres of metal.I totally agree with your view on it..

Power Quest trying to be Dragonforce? At least Power Quest use variety in their albums.
Since I bought Skylark's 'Wings' a year ago they are becoming my favorite band.
My favourite power metal bands are Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius and Dragonforce. But also these bands here are nice. So thnx man!

that's fair, personally I think the first two albums are really good, great melodies and massive chorus'. The latest album was good, thought the first two songs were killer but yeah as a whole they certainly lack some variety I'll give you that. Dragonland are one of the best bands I have ever heard, first two albums are a bit shitty but the other three are amazing. Under the Grey Banner got to be one of the best PM albums ever. I like Axenstar but only heard a few songs. recommendations?
it's not the worst album i've ever heard, i can even enjoy listening to 1 or 2 songs on it from time to time but seriously DF are getting too much praise for their work. it's not like their songs would be masterpieces they are just fast and most of them sound the same to a certain degree.
after having listened to their new album i have a little hope though, that it could change since they put more variety in that one. but i still sthink bands like dragonland or axenstar should get more attention
Wow... i'm just sad! who are they fooling? i mean all these groups! they are repeating older bands in music, lyrics & everything! that's very disgusting! We have heard all of this stuff played better from original bands who created this genre since the beginning! I can't stand this anymore! that's an insult to music! where are the new ideas? why do they even form new bands? for what? for copying helloween, gamma ray, etc??? i fear metal dies... only repetitions and bad copies we see...

Bands like Dragonforce are VERY rare. The only bands I know of that are ANYTHING like Dragonforce are Powerquest and Freedom Call.
And Powerquest is a WEAK band, but they have such good melodies that they always catch my attention. I don't have a single one of their songs on my Mp3 player, though.
I love Power Metal as well as Death and Viking Metal. I don't think there should be a rivalry between the different metal styles like "Mine is better than yours" - that is what HipHoppers do, but not Metallers!
If you like Wintersun (love them, can't wait for the next album!) listen to Equilibrium (German Viking Metal), if you're more into Death or Power metal then Sabaton, Sonata Arctica and DragonForce (saw them in Essen, best concert ever!) are my favourites.
Here's the thing with dragonforce...there's talent there, don't get me wrong, I mean it's obvious these guys have a gift, but they don't know how to cooperate, you know? When I listen to their songs, it's like EVERY member of the band is giving it everything they have ALL THE TIME. You have to learn to sort of compromise that, and work as a unit rather than individually. Anyway, just my opinion.
Oh my god. I'm so sick of people saying Power Quest is trying to be DragonForce. They're not!! Power Quest is before DragonForce. DragonForce is new. It pisses me off how they are getting popular.

If you search for really good power metal, check the finnish metal bands "Altaria" and "Dreamtale". These 2 bands rule!!!
@oshyria Kamelot kicks everyone's ass, plain and simple. Roy Khan has the best voice going. Rhapsody is always excellent as are Fairyland and Stratovarius. Dragonforce is good compared to the usual crap that people listen to but not one of my favorites. Dark Moor, Firewind, and Cellador are great as well

If you think My Spirit Will Go On sounds like either of those songs, then you have deluded yourself.
And HOLY COW the intro for Timeless Miracle's song is HEROIC! Wow!
But like I was saying, they're different. They hadn't even done anything like on the song The Fire Still Burns until their newest album.

dragonforce is speed/power metal. they are not false metal. in one way they are actually there own style there not your typical sounding band and thats what i like about them. i knew about them before fucking GH.they rock so does other power metal. stop the conversation about them
power metal needs to make a comeback, back in teh 80s when it wasnt as good, people sorta drifted, and now its transformed for the best, and not ALOT of people like it....i sure as hell LOVE power metal, i wish i could spread the word, cause power metal is AMAZING! cool video
I agree...that sam guy is not really tht good on guitar...saw loadsa videos of him and he was alright. Altho herman was better he was still not that impressive....I expected like this awesomeness of guitars from what people have said but i was sadly dissapointed.

for me the bests are Stratovarius - black diamond, the kiss of judas, phoenix, Sonata Arctica - wildfire, the cage, destruction preventer, power quest - beyond the stars , diamond sky , glory tonight Power Metal always o/
you should hear other bands like lost horizon, galneryus, demons and wizards, exciter, gamma ray, manowar, primal fear, sabaton, between other, cuz all those, even im interested, all are the same thing, as rhapsody, dragonland and dragonforce...
lol power metal is so much more melodically complex than death metal. Seriously, it doesn't take a musician to play death metal, you just have to scream ur throat off and play low tuned XD. That doesn't mean it also has its cool tunes.
in the beginng of Timeless Miracle it kinda sounds like a nursery rhyme but i cant remember which one lol

@oshyria by my opinion, i say dragonforce can gtfo, they cant even play there own songs, thank god for Falconer, axenstar, hammerfall... (even though dragonforce was the first band that got me to power metal)
i agree... they're fun to listen to but their words always repeat. it's like listening to one song... the only different perhaps was "Valley Of The Damned" or "Through The Fire And Flames" but that's about it

Just so you know, by 'gay' I mean happy because Power Metal is happy! I Love Power Metal, it is my favourite genre of music.
Funny thing is that all these new power metal bands come from eather the U.K or Brazil, well atleast 80% of them. Fresh metal is always welcomed in my collection, it keeps things interesting.

Axenstar is good, but underrated.
The first one that caught my attention was, of course, Power Quest.
The next is a band I've never heard of; Wings?
It sounded so different, that it immediately drew my focus.
The singing lets the whole band down. It all sounds so week. The bands are good they've got the right idea they just need more punch in their vocals. OLYMPUS MONS are alright.
even though this is a new power metal band list....all i can say is this...the forefathers of finish power metal that rule over all would be none other then Marco Hietala and Tarot

DragonForce is "extreme power metal" as they say, but it seems most of their songs look alike, sure Herman Lee is great, but in overall the band isn't all that great.

Power Quest caught your attention first? They sound exactly like Dragonforce, aka generic and poor. All the others sound interesting but I'll pass on Power Quest.

Some of their songs can be classified as power metal. But not all of them. So its a symphonic metal band with occasional fits of power metal goodness =)
yea hehe... and tons of others like them. Its so easy to write those songs. you just put some of those words together and sing them like you mean it :P
he doesn't speed up his tracks, but he plays part by part so the solo won't sound sloppy, and then mixes them up... it's pretty easy and pretty low

The best power metal bands are clearly Fairyland, Stratovarius, the good old Dragonforce, and Rhapsody.
