@Loz8900 Lately I've called it "electronica" (the good techno you are referring to) because you are right, they have come killer melodies and atmosphere! A lot of my songs are a blend of the techno melodies and atmosphere alongside of thrash and power metal riffing, guitar melodies, classical elements, extreme metal drumming, progressive metal elements such as time changes, and power/classic heavy metal vocals.
@DarickC Yeah, that's true. I should've mentioned that to Thrash, too. Modern melodeath is different. Then again, I'm a pretty big fan of power metal, so this stuff doesn't bother me at all.
The songs are : Archeon - Dead world Cadda Cross - Flaming Ember Mors principium est - Eternity`s Child NailDown - Hollow Syndicate Kaliban - Orchard Imperanon - Blade Like ´em
Wow, I must say that these Death Metal bands, really is a taste of mine. They growl, and their melodic instruments rythem is really awesome indeed. Very good music video Marchoherrera1 ;)
@Ikkiku that is so true, i have a music library of 18000 songs and metal takes up about 50% of that. the rest is millions of different genres. one of my faveourite genres is classical
Track List Archeon - Dead World Cada Cross - Flaming Ember Mors principum est - Eternity's child Naildown - Hollow Syndicate Kaliban - Carnal Cage Imperanon - Blade "Mortician RULZZZ"
Mors Principium Est - Eternity's Child Cadacross - Flaming Ember Archeon - Dead World Naildown - Hollow Syndicate Kaliban - Orchard Imperanon - Blade There you go, guys :)
@ThrashTillDeath322 Apparently, it's also a new trend to call harsh vocals "screamo vocals." There's a difference between harsh vocal metal and screamo. There's a huge difference. Aside from that, Mors Principium Est seems less power metal influenced. Check out bands like Quo Vadis. Otherwise, you're gonna have a tough time finding melodeath you'll like. It's basically heavy power metal. Give Stormlord a listen, too. They aren't melodeath, but they're pretty good for blackened power metal.
@Loz8900 The problem I have with techno is it's repeated and bland "dance" beats meant solely for support a life style similar to that of mainstream "in da club" rap music. However, I do agree that the melodies can be really well built in electronica if you have a really good artist.
right there with ya man, i have a very open mind when it comes to music, but my cousin always insists on bashing my type of music. I just like to be able to understand a few words in a song and like it to be slightly enjoyable, not constant screaming in my ear. Yet he constantly calls my type of music poser metal...well it poses as nothing but its own genre which i very much like.
Maybe. Not that you really can tell for sure what kind of music some of thier solos actually was inspirated by. But as I said before; that's still wasn't really what I meant. I was just responding on Never2more's comment about melodeath being power metal with growl vocals. Forget what I said about influences.
Explaination: The type of metal is determined by the contents of its lyrics as well. The genre "metal" is quite controversial when it comes to defining a band's exact style. The lyrics (however difficult one may find them to understand) are a good hint though - not the only one of course. Steel your hearts! Aarowan
No, I was talking about Scandinavian folk music, which is different from the "ordinary" folk music. And that is what you hear in Viking metal-band, but not in Amon.
Agreed...I guess you could say there are Core Genres, Death, Black, Power, ect...but there are many subgenes, Do genres really matter not really, there's some relevance if your trying to discribe what kind of metal you like...I guess one way to look at it would be to take Races...there's White, black, Asian ect...but there are many mix races too, doesn't mean your not one of the other...fighting over it is pretty dumb, some are very tricky to categorize.
Death metal is one of the genres I try to like the most, but only hindered by not understanding the lyrics. It gets easier over time, and Naildown caught my attention.
@cuzzo820 I think they do. My friend sent me a new song called Ravenous crows from the album ''Three nights in the sewers of Sodom''. I don't know if the album is out yet but judging by the song, it's gonna be a great album. Look it up on youtube.

@Dzschelebo children of bodom is very melodic in their earlier works and the song bed of razors is a masterpiece. i love amon amarth to but arch enemy is kinda the sort tht doesnt make musical sence at some parts. im a musician myself tht plays a wide variaty of instruments and styles and ik wat melodic is more than anything. i agree with the pop shit u said but children of bodom is great oh and the new band wintersun ids pretty cool too, lots of arpeggio sweeps in the song winter maddness
It's not just noise it has to make sense, most of the brutal chugging and riffs are pretty much power chords (mostly), but the leads can still be melodic. Listen to some of these bands: Decrepit Birth, Obscura, Necrophagist, Aeon, etc. You might not be into them, but some of their songs are actually melodic and brutal. True creating melody is somewhat hard, but writing catchy death metal with brutal riffs and melo leads is alot harder especially guitar wise.
@Loz8900 most techno I've listened to is pretty much the same beat over and over again without any good melodies at all, but I'm open to any suggestions of good techno or electronica
Melodic Metal is the best music out there,im still relativly new but, CoB,was the first melodic metal band ive ever heard, and since then i now like over 70 more bands.
im a big bodom fan, and i never liked norther that much, ive just got into naildown a bit, reflecting my descent is really good, but wow, that mors principium est song is really good!
but you know actually thinking of it there can not be a power metal with harsh vocals because one of PM's attributes are there high vocal notes, i've heard aswell that extreme PM is PM but with faster guitar work examples like Dragonforce or cellador
@humboldtmoon420 no he is right. and btw only metal and techno posses such an incredible power.the are the only music kinds that can literaly lift you.
@Kadadj so fucking true man. but what can you do? I consider myself in the "hate anything core or screamo" but other than that I pretty much like all types of metal. REAL METAL that is.
@varulv234 nahh i don't actually think that. i was just kidding. but not about the prep school part, i'm really going there. and honestly, i don't care if i'm not really part of the metal subculture, i just like the music a lot.
I hope you know brutal death sometimes has melodies not just riffing like Decrepit Birth, Psycroptic, Spawn of Possession, etc. Mostly in the solos, but it has some melody. I like plenty of melo death, but brutal death is so much harder to play and write in my opinion
If you listen to it enough you realize that growling/screaming whatever you may call it fits the style of the music. Eventually you will grow on it, tolerate it, than maybe even start to enjoy it.
@9crowkiller9 That is the way melodic death metal nowadays seems to be, but I agree ChazShinra, this is not death metal in no way or form (i mean musically, not vocally). Musically, this has to be more with heavy or power metal, with the difference of using death / black metal vocals. If you want to listen true melodic DEATH METAL, try the next bands: Edge of Sanity, Gates of Ishtar, Carcass (except 2 first albums), Amorphis (early), Ebony tears, Dark Tranquillity (first albums), Dimension Zero
Damn I'm sorry but the band at 1:27 totally took that riff from the song Stratosphere by Stratovarius...the tremolo picking riff...maybe not but sounds similar!
compos mentis just announced they're release date for their new album kingdom of decay June 22!!!! trust me this album is going to be sick definetely check it out. The albums i've been listening to lately are suidakra - crogacht gardenian - sindustries samael - ceremony of opposites and darkage - minus exitus
@KGBagent19 Yeah I thought they were melodeth at first they are truly amazing though im not even sure if there still making music anymore but they should be famous right now.
my only issue is that Mors Principium Est isnt all that new, they've been a very established band since their first album, which was some time ago (I dont feel like looking up years) also I still think that the best material in on the second album although they are all very good, props on trying to spread music!
This is different from DragonForce's style. Not only are the vocals way darker, but you notice that there aren't any uplifting refrains, the pacing for the most part is way different, and there is none of the DF toccata to be heard. I think the style is cool, and I like DF as well. Thanks for the post, marcoherra.
@Ikkiku know what you mean.that's the thing about metalheads, they really like their own music, fuck everything else. I myself have come along way from Metallica to Meshuggah, Melvins to Tool, Carcass to Cynic and so forth. point is I love anything groovy and heavy.
Any have any suggestions on melodic death metal bands similar to Children Of Bodom? (Other than the ones on this video, and preferably finish or swedish)
@ChazShinRa It's melodic death metal. In other words it uses the death metal type vocals but fuses them with intense guitar melody instead of the brutal nature of pure death metal.
oh and btw yeah actually i can make out about half of the lyrics the first time i hear a song, and once i read the lyrics somewhere it sounds clear as day.
@MetalliCxZero In Flames and Sonic Syndicate play something I'd call 'modern gothenburg metal'. Archeon and Imperanon at least, from this bunch are extreme power metal bands.
I'm sad about Cadacross and MoH does kind of suck compared to Archeon. I am pretty alright with the last part. Imperanon was awesome, but I love Finntroll and Wintersun. I'm almost tempted to check out Medicated to see if they follow a pattern.
Imperanon was my favorite! Thanks! I'm always looking for 'new' stuff to invest in, even if it has been out a while!
@Ikkiku agreed, I listen to alot of neo classical shred too and I play almost any style associated with it including death metal.
@Loz8900 Lately I've called it "electronica" (the good techno you are referring to) because you are right, they have come killer melodies and atmosphere! A lot of my songs are a blend of the techno melodies and atmosphere alongside of thrash and power metal riffing, guitar melodies, classical elements, extreme metal drumming, progressive metal elements such as time changes, and power/classic heavy metal vocals.

cob had a small inspiration on speed/power, neo-classical and industrial but they are concentrating mostly on melodic death.

Oh shit, the first time I heard some ATG, my mind literally exploded from the awesomeness. One of the best, and I'm always happy to see a fellow fan.
Definitely, although they are pretty well known now as well. Colors is probably my favourite album of all time.
@Ikkiku haha, its kool how metalheads appreciate classical music ^^.
i like it so much
The name of the naildown song is Hollow Syndicate and the name of the first song is dead world
right there with ya man, i have a very open mind when it comes to music, but my cousin always insists on bashing my type of music. @Ikkiku i get that man. what i wrote earlier wasn't based on me but on friends of mine who live off metal you see. and yeah classical music is great.
look the part two to!
gracias!
No, I was talking about Scandinavian folk music, which is different from the "ordinary" folk music. And that is what you hear in Viking metal-band, but not in Amon.
its called: Forgotten from: Mors Principium Est
i hope you will enjoy
imperanon takes me back to old bodom days... i have never heard these guys before today... i dig
mors principium est great hook lead, nice and memorable, must check them out.
That completely depends on which band it is.
For example you can't say that In Flames or Dark Tranquillity have any kind of power metal influences.

@CuttinGrass08
it's not even fight, it's just getting rid of all negative emotions by having a good time moshing!!! ^^
The last band is Imperanon. The song in this vid is "Blade".
@Dvdingham Depends on what branch of metal. Lot's of the guitarists are classically
The female vocalist on Shadowsouls is Leonna Aho.
hey Metaldrummer1310.. its eternity's child - inhumanity album.. one of my fav bands!
@irongeorge94 An example of a Drum n Bass group is Pendulum, but mostly i don't have any groups I can list, just songs lol.
@cuzzo820 Me 2. illnath is one of my favourite bands along with insomnium, kalmah, mors principium est and in flames.
Thanks dude, their singer sounds a little like Alexi Laiho of CoB, which is a good thing!
@coinman01 lol
Reminds of Friends when Phoebe is like "Carcass is available? Is it the one with a 'C' or a 'K'? Oh who cares, they're both great!"
My favorites
1 The Absence
2 Kalmah
3 Wintersun
4 Opeth
5 Ensiferum
Not all necesarilly MDM but my favorites nontheless.
@cuzzo820 I think they do. My friend sent me a new song called Ravenous crows from the album ''Three nights in the sewers of Sodom''. I don't know if the album is out yet but judging by the song, it's gonna be a great album. Look it up on youtube.
You've written the two best posts I've ever read...
@Loz8900 now that I remember the whole Unreal Tournament soundtrack was some kickass techno music... you should check it out
@Ikkiku thank you soo much
I believe so. What is your opinion? (i don't distinguish between black/death when i say that)

Same here, ATG is totally awsome, and they pioneered(among others) the genre.
yes Caliban is Metalcore...i saw them 2007 on the Summerbreeze.. was very great^^
I love how all of these bands sound like Bodom or Kalmah. What happened to trying to re-record Colony or using leftover Dark Tranquility riffs?
im a big bodom fan, and i never liked norther that much, ive just got into naildown a bit, reflecting my descent is really good, but wow, that mors principium est song is really good!
@Loz8900 i was just thinking about that the other day, absolutely agree.

awesome bands, 0:01 amazing intro!
@natgarification i agree. f.ex in melodic death metal guitar riffs are usually fucking hard and drumwork is awesome
Eternity's Child from the album Inhumanity
@Kadadj so fucking true man. but what can you do? I consider myself in the "hate anything core or screamo" but other than that I pretty much like all types of metal. REAL METAL that is.
yeah i've already searched mors principium est. i dont remember those songs though i'll check them out, thanks.
@varulv234 nahh i don't actually think that. i was just kidding. but not about the prep school part, i'm really going there. and honestly, i don't care if i'm not really part of the metal subculture, i just like the music a lot.
@KGBagent19 I will I saw it on the thumbmail or whatever its called im looking forward to seeing live videos if they by chance get more famous.
I hope you know brutal death sometimes has melodies not just riffing like Decrepit Birth, Psycroptic, Spawn of Possession, etc. Mostly in the solos, but it has some melody. I like plenty of melo death, but brutal death is so much harder to play and write in my opinion

What I'm talking about is German Metalcore Act Caliban. produced by Anders Friden from In Flames BTW....
Agreeed these do sound alot like CoB, no complaints tho... they are my fav band... the beginnng on the cadacross song deff sounds like them
i looked at the song and its amazing!
thanx a lot!!
Great Video! although the volume balance is slightly off
@Mandilore See that's what I like. We need more bands like that in the world, lol. Good ones are few and far between these days!
your right ^^ caliban is my favourite too
Could quite happily listen to any of these bands at any time, they're all decent/good. I love the Melodic Death/Black genre.
Hollow Syndicate...you can find it on youtube

@zipper978 That's mine too. I've found TONS of people that like metal like Techno that like metal too. They're too similar NOT to be thrown together.
my only issue is that Mors Principium Est isnt all that new, they've been a very established band since their first album, which was some time ago (I dont feel like looking up years) also I still think that the best material in on the second album although they are all very good, props on trying to spread music!

totally agreed i like old school stuff....like master.slayer.core stuff i getting way out of hands.
itunes has some mors principium est, cadacross, nd imperanon, i havnt seen any at FYE
Any have any suggestions on melodic death metal bands similar to Children Of Bodom? (Other than the ones on this video, and preferably finish or swedish)
@Loz8900 I'd say it's more closely related to classical music
@ChazShinRa It's melodic death metal. In other words it uses the death metal type vocals but fuses them with intense guitar melody instead of the brutal nature of pure death metal.

you wanna hear true mdm at its finest try some dark tranquility. try lost to apathy or my personal favorite -haven. (your welcome)
Psychoanalysis, Black Dahlia Murder, The Absence and newer Knights Of The Abyss are all good melodeath bands
you should check out Now Until the Hour. They're melodic death metal too. and theyre way good.
nice sounds bro!
a music stile is not defined for its lyrics, but its stile of guitars, voice, drums, ...
Thx alot for the new bands i didnt know! :o
They all sound great!
(and btw, all of you just talk english or something.... most ppl cant talk chinese!)
