Hi Cleo.... I've done it!!!! bought a late 04 mini cooper s face lift model Thanks to watching yr videos it will be my weekend ride.. will do all the mods with the advise from your videos.. Thank you so much :-) xx
Thanks for the ONLY proper video I’ve seen so far showing how this is done. You could have made your own horn ground jumper cable with just a bit of regular wire to save yourself a few bucks.
Great video as always Cleo! Favourite quote has to be: "I did manage to find it in the end. Which is surprising. I thought it was going to be..... a lot longer. "
@@carsandbras2202 YOU ARE FAB and Around good people.. on the video when you completed fitting the new steering wheel that smile is worth a million!! :-) xx
@@carsandbras2202 Hi Cleo, I will be collecting my 2nd car tomorrow from sevenoaks via trailer due to blown gasket.. can do you know any 1 that will do the job at a fair price?
Hi Cleo. Hooked watching your RUclips channel now. I have just bought my own garage business and I'm looking at a trip to Nurburgring in 2022 and I'm looking at buying a R53 just like yours for the trip! Wish I was as confident as you are to have a go on RUclips, you are doing very well so keep it up 🙂 never know you might even get as many followers as the stradman before you know it 😉
Curtis Matten Hey! Thanks, your living my dream! hope the new garage venture goes well 💪🏼😁 I took my R53 to the Nurburgring and was planning to again this year if travels possible now, really enjoyed it in the R53! No harm in giving it a go, you don’t know until you try 😉 and who knows, got a long way to go 😅
Hello 😊 thank you for great video… where do you plug in the resistors please? I can’t work out where they plug in.. I’ve tried a couple of ways but no luck 😢 there is two wires from air bag…
Hello, great informative vid… The short earth horn cable that you added an extension to. Where was it located after you pulled out the horn? Do I have to pull out the clock spring to find it? I’m about to do same swap as well. Keep up the great work! NYC
I don't suppose you still have that 3 spoke available do you?! Finding an all black wheel without on wheel function buttons is nigh impossible! Great video by the way!
ask oli for the OMP braces. now you changed the wheel. it sharpens the whole car up with them installed. i did it all in one go pretty much. simple things to fit and strangely not all hype. just stiffens everything up more. ive seen your car a while back when jason at millsys was working on it. you had your Enkie Alloys on it at the time. looks nice in person your R53
Le Perri yes I’ll give him a shout! Been meaning to get some on but just need to get new suspension first then sort a front brace out, as I like the car to have a little bit of body roll/softer and not too stiff 😅 ah that was a while a go now! I need to get it back up to Millsys soon for some more work. Still got the Enkei ready for the trackdays to get going
@@carsandbras2202 before this lockdown i was pretty much going to see jason about something or hang out with him. good lad knows his stuff. my car needs a sort out if i can get some pennies together and the time to do it. be cool to see you about up there. have a proper look round the motor if you were cool with that
Solid work, Chica. Question, how did you get your gauges to look like that? Did you change the gauge face color to yellow and black or did you buy aftermarket gauges?
Thanks and it’s just the gauge faces that have been changed - pretty simple to do and you can change the lights behind it and add LEDs ect for different coloured and brighter lights 👍🏼
Great vid. Totally sold on a r53 for a track day car for me and the wife to share. Is there a good group / club / mag / vlog that can help from starting out fresh ?
Nice job, ... My only comment would be the wires on the airbag, why not snip the plastic plugs off, then solder the resister on (directly on the air bag wires) instead of poking the wires in the plug.
if after installing my hub and wheel, there is play in the hub (i can pull the wheel/hub towards my chest about a couple mm) what might the issue be? steering column bolt is properly torqued. i think maybe the bolt is bottoming out before the hub is properly tightened down.
The first boss I bought did the same, I bought it from a friend who had a facelift R53. The bolt in the steering column would be completely tightened but there would still be a small amount of play once you fitted the steering wheel on. It was the boss causing the issue as it didn’t sit quite flush to the steering column at the back, I think it was to do with the tapered seat on the back of the boss if I remember rightly! I bought a new boss from Orranje and it solved the problem
@@carsandbras2202 hey thanks for getting back to me. yeah i figured that out shortly after my comment. correct, the steering bolt ends up bottoming out before the hub is secured to the splines. luckily the solution is easy; add washers around the spline, between the hub and column. thanks again. im finally installing it, along with a lot of other maintenance. cheers!
Thomas Cottrell YB Racing supply them, it’s a red limited edition wheel - and the gauge pod is just a generic one, not sure on the make im afraid as it’s been in the car for years. www.ybracing.com/omp-od2005nnwhy-special-edition1-omp-targa-steering-wheel-suede-leather-330mm-red-trim-and-logo1.html
looks great, looks safer honestly...cant wait to do mine, why not a flat bottom? looks like it actually fits your hands better! i’m a steering wheel up and downer myself. up to get in/out and down to drive bc i’m short. thanx for posting. enjoy your milk and tea.
Nico_beingBeeGee it’s a great addition, much better driving position and will be interesting to fully try it out on track. I’ll get a quick release boss kit fitted next too. Definitely worth getting one though if your having similar issues. Haha cheers! ☕️🥛

Love the new steering wheel! Next time you join wires use heat shrink, electrical tape will fall off over time!

Fletcher Musician best place would be 1320 MINI, but they might have a waiting list. They’re worth waiting for though If you’re not in a rush
So there’s no air bag now-isn’t that an mot failure??
Best steering wheel swap video on RUclips thanks. I like the seats which model are they please.

it is better to disconnect the negative terminal first :o
Hi Cleo, where did you get the hub from?
I guess for me to have fun with my classic cars i have to come to england.
Thank you Cleo.
Do you know if they are manufacturing the gear box with straight cut gears like the classic mini aftermarket?. Please let me know.
Hello, your MINI is spectacular, I saw it changed the tachometer and speedometer holsters, could you give me the link!! Grazie, Ciao!!
Hi sweetie, i am hoping to get the 2020 john cooper works in February of next year .
Your exhaust sounds lush
super useful vid, have you got any of your interior mods, eg seat fitting and cage?
Where did you get the red omp horn badge from. I have been looking to replace my yellow one for ages. Thanks.
resistor 2.2 on the black connector and the green connector?
So very nice 😍
Can you send me the information where you brought that steering wheel please.

Thank you so much Cleo for yr info and knowledge luv you ❤🙊🙈❌❌
Love your videos. OMP wheel is nice to use, but don't know if I'd be brave enough to go without an airbag.
just ratchet your seat belt down when you drive
where did you get the carbon fiber interior trim pieces?

Do you have a link to where you bought the steering wheel from? Loads of fakes about that all.

Looked like the airbag light was on ? Did those resistors work ?
Mark Burchett yes I triggered it the week before and couldn’t find my c110 before taking it out, but I reset it and the light stayed off 👍🏼
