I've watched almost all this dude content, and I'm surprised he only has 189K subs. The video editing is good and he doesn't waste your time. This guy should have a million subs.
Thanks man! One of these days we will get there!! Thanks for watching 👍
I agree
Here it's late night. Was about to sleep when saw your this video which you just uploaded 9 mins ago. Now sleeping 22 mins later. Thumbs up for Austin 👍👍
Same…having sweet Yota dreams now!😂😴
Austin why not use the callipers and rotors of a camry as they would have the same 5 holes x 114 for the rotors?
The amount of detail is insane. Wish I had that type of talent.
Thanks for the shout out on the brakes, truck is looking good 👍🏼 👌
No problem 👍 Thanks for the help!!
Always enjoy watching your vids! They have given me motivation to film and post more of my projects! Keep it up!!
Thank you! Will do!
Love the bronze painted parts with bergandy coils
My man looking good and educational
Nice brakes i like
Insane.. master in Toyotas. You’re a ToYODA
Austin. I find it easier to remove pistons from calipers, if you use a compressor before splitting the caliper.
Even better, bolt them back onto the vehicle and with the power assist press the brakes hard. Pistons never fail to pop out. Just use a block of wood to dampen the piston so it doesn't eject as speed and damage the piston or caliper surface!
Mmm glfabrication build the perfect hilux! You need a turbo 2rz like him 😬
May be 2JZ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
IFS 4×4 front rotors WILL WORK ON THE BACK AXLE, cheaper & you don't need that much braking on the rear, you will need a master cylinder from a 97 tacoma,Tacoma, adjustable proportioning valve & a 3 lb residual valve in line at the rear,
The proportioning valve can go in line after the master cylinder,I've already done this! Good luck, great work dude!
So You have to redrill for the 5lug?
The rear brakes r easier than the front ,you will need a larger master cylinder,a proportioning valve & a residual valve, love your work!
I just noticed the claw hammer! lol I watch Fab Rats and Matts Off Road Recovery and they use a claw hammer a lot!
I have read multiple times, that drilling complete holes in the discs allows cracking when going from a hot disc into water or mud. All brand name performance discs I have seen for the Hilux, have slots, and half drilled holes. Like dimples. Just throwing it out there. Its what I will be doing with my 89 ifs extra cab.
Well done brother, we enjoyed the video, very nice
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks!
Can't wait to see your completed job
This dude is one off a badass! More skill in his left pinky than I. I just want to know where I can send my truck and have you build it for me.
calipers look cool. Are they gonna stay white with brake dust?
Looking smooth
Really enjoy these videos Austin. I have a 1999 mk 4. The brakes are not much good so you are inspiring me my friend 😊
Happy fourth Austin 🧨

White was a good choice!
Whenever I have to re-drill rotors I do it in one operation with the rotors bolted together as you had it, let the old rotor guide the bit. I’ve done this probably 40 time and never had a problem. Hope that helps.
Brake setup looking nice and clean!!!!!
The best proyect ever!
You can use front calipers and rotors on the rear. Don't waste parts and is half the way done...
Good work Broo,,,Salam from Indonesian 😁🙏
I hear NAPA calipers are OK. So hopefully no regrets there.
Hola amigo qe chacis le qeda a una tacoma del 2002 es qe aca en panama hay es mas 4 runer me dice si sele puede poner el dela 4 runer
Awesome upload! 10/10 hilux pronunciation!
Great job as usual Austin!
The breaks look amazing with the whith calipers...
Convert it to rear disc brakes please! For the love of god, do it!
Wonder if a 1st gen 2wd Tacoma rotor would have worked better (same 5 bolt pattern and a larger center bore than the Acura rotor)?
good idea. how close is the center bore on those rotors compared to the stock ones
I've got about 8 of those calipers sitting in a box, they are a std. NISSIN casting and can be found on a ton of cars and trucks, mine all came from 87-91 RX7 TII's
Austin is this really from.you?
@@mitchellsalzman4677 ignore the scams.. they are everywhere now.
Great job with the brakes .
Bro Really I Love This Project 🥰
Bro May be You Can Make it like a jdm Cars it Gonna Be Amazing
Good work
I don't love the white calipers. That being said, You are killing it on the truck. Your attention to every detail is the way you get a perfect truck. Props!
The bright white calipers are going to clash with the not bright white patina paint on the truck
I was sure you’d go that copper color on calipers. White is clean though. If they stay clean.
Salut Austin
Je ne savais pas que l'on pouvait percer des disques de frein comme tu viens de le faire.
Félicitations pour ton travail très soigné et merci de nous faire partager ton expérience.
Bonne semaine
warm greetings from Indonesia
Why not get TSX or Prelude rotors? Those are 5x114.3 and will be easier to work with. (Also, just so you're aware, slotted/drilled rotors perform worse then blanks without ducts to provide air for degassing/breathing.)
LOL, Nice, how do you plan to keep a white brake C. clean , ............... ? show truck ?
Got in before the one hour mark bam!
Nos. Esos de n la siguiente !!
Anybody know if that same recipe works on 85-89 2wds?
I have a set of V6 calipers kicking around. And will they clear 15" wheels?
Everything looks great so far. Only issue you might face is the white powdercoat on the calipers yellowing over time (because hot and brake dust). Probably not the end of the world for someone who can blast/coat at home tho.
All of the 79-95 trucks came with 15” wheels so the v6 calipers will fit a 15”rim.

You should have had the machine shop take material of the locating face of the rotor. It would have fixed your caliper spacing and dust shield issue.
or alternatively, used a bearing shim. This would have moved the rotor and hub out to clear the backing plate from rubbing and also located the rotor in the middle of the caliper so the caliper doesn't need a washer as a shim.
My girlfriend hates me now because the projects I’ve started because of you
She shouldn't,go ahead with it even if you started a mini space program on your backyard she should support you......that what's it's all about after all.
He’ll fix your girlfriend.
i hate you and love your girlfriend.. keep trucking buddy
Nicely worked. Perfact.
Great job bro I love what you are doing 👍🏿
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 looks awesome
Thanks 👍
Why aren’t you compressed air to push the pistons out
Thank you! People always forget about bigger backs best safety mod.
"WHAT IS GOING ON GUYS" That is where I left. I wont be back!
I would like to see a video of you converting the drum brakes to a disc brakes, I have a 2006 Tacoma with just over 53, 5xx miles and I've been thinking of converting the drum brakes to a disc brakes.
Thank you@text me on telegram👉👉Austinniemela
Paint the rims bronze!
I was looking forward to this video. too top.
are 01-05 civic rotors too big? i think they have the bolt pattern you drilled for (5x114.3)
These are the same as civic. They bolt to the back of the hub not the front
Who did you use for sand blasting your frame? In Spokane and looking to get mine done. Thanks, love the videos
Great job, Love toyotas
Brakes look sick and that's a super clever setup. I'm running the V6 calipers on my truck too but with FJ80 rotors. Decide on an engine yet??
Are the fj rotors a direct bolt on?
Damm it’s looking good it’s not even finish yet and I want to ask how much you want for it
Coming along man. Excited to see this done! Happy 4th. Do you have a link to the guy's IG for his Hilux?
Do it now! Disc brakes!
👍
Mount the hoses bracket the upper arm
I believe land cruiser rotors of the same era are direct bolt on?
Not on the 2wd!!
@@austinniemela good to know! Thanks!
Hello, do you know if it works on a 1995 hilux ln108 ?
In for bronze te’s 16s…..if it were mine. Lol
👍👍👍👍
You could of shimmed behind the inner bearing it would of taken care of both your problems.
I did a similar swap, my 89 toyota has the 4x4 verison on them. All i needed was a bracket and different rotor. This is a great set up!
Looking amazing man like always 👌 great job
I’d take the rear end apart and do disc in the back too. Now is the best time while you have the frame off. If you don’t, you’re just gonna kick yourself later for not doing it now
Is there any reason you can't use stock IFS rotors? I thought those were vented...
Does anyone ever fall for that?
Next time just use air nozzle to push the pistons out
The first one will pop out with air!
Bless day 🙏🏾☝🏾🌏🇵🇷🤜🏾🤛🏻
will we be good to go ? 😋lol

Sooooo glad you didn't paint the calipers red every suburban grandpa in a Jag rock red calipers. Really enjoying the content so different to your last few builds. White was definitely the right choice to go with the booster and engine bay.
Thanks 👍 Yea red calipers are over rated haha
I know Ford and Toyota have the same bolt pattern. Hard to believe Ford didn't have a set of drilled and slotted rotors...
They also have v6 rotors on ebay... Not sure why he didn't buy those.
These don't bolt to the lug studs. They bolt to the back side of the hub
@@austinniemela I definitely understand and maybe it's 6 in one and half a dozen in the other but if you get longer lug studs and mount the rotors on the front of the hubs then you would avoid the clearance issues with the rear dust cover. Just a thought. I'm not an expert or am I a Hilux genius but just my thoughts.
Love following your progress. It is going to be a great truck. Curious why you did not blast and paint the hubs.
Great to watch this come together Austin, can I ask why didn’t you use the v6 rotors with the v6 calipers? Is the offset different?
Ford 8.8 rear?
What make and model on the ford rear end? I'm looking for a posi/low ratio rear? I have a '89 toyota pick up. any suggestions on the rear will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Are you doing a giveaway?
@text me on telegram👉👉Austinniemela hey why don’t you delete yourself before I have to thanks. This is a scam guys
Imagine all this work every time you change out your pads and rotors. Good job build be looken clean
Or simply when you have time and find cheap rotors just prepare and mod then spare them untill you need to use……
was he washing them with soap or gasoline?
diesel I guess
Cleaning solution
And eliminate the backing plates on the rear ,you don't need them!
6
So were just gunna spruce up the engine bay, and not go all out because it's a budget build,
Brake lines will rub and break...no es bueno...try again
It is not convenient to make more holes in the discs, be careful, it is weakening it
😳😳
