Good job Austin
Working in aerospace for 35 years, when you do your layups, make sure the carbon fiber isn't resin starved. (Lots of resin during layup :)
I really enjoy your work, good job!
The dash came out nice :)
Thank you! I made sure to saturate the fiber good!!
The matte looks great man, you should hit that radio bezel with that epoxy and that matte clear to match the dash now. 👌🏼
I have thought about that! Might look good together! And thanks!
Agreed! 😀
100% think the Matt finish helps hide the imperfections too
Traducir al español.estoy trabajando en uno del 1988.me gustaría guiarme el lo qe es la fibra.bueno gracias y bendiciones.
Dude! You’re a wizard!! Lol
And you’re, your toughest critic!
I’ve been watching your Channel since the red flatbed, an i’m always amazed on your skill and ability! Even when you’re “learning” super interesting and fun to watch you work!
Keep up the great work brother!!
Chad From Seattle 🤙🏼
looks great, especially the satin finish. honestly i like the satin so much i’m kinda wishing all the carbon fiber was finished satin
I came here to ask if you had thoughts of refinishing the radio bezel in satin. The dash pad looks good.
Looks amazing. Since you’re getting into carbon try watching some Mike Patey videos. He is a RUclips pilot that built a complete airplane out of carbon. You might pick up some useful tips. Keep it up I love watching what your doing.
That turned out SICK and definitely fits with the white/ black theme. West system makes good stuff. I used it in knife making when I glued my scales on and it was hands down the best stuff I found.
This is looking awesome!
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Its all a learning curve and it is way better than most of us
(Me) could do.
Love these Toyota builds.
Cheers from Sydney Australia MATE
🇭🇲👍🦘🇺🇸🦘👍🇭🇲
All I can say is that the dash looks clean! Looking forward to the next update!
At 8:37 I thought I was going to get to see a thumb getting cut off! And I think I would matte finish the radio trim bezel.
If you have any carbon fiber leftover now that there’s a firm base you could prep that surface with filler to get rid of the waviness and then put a final layer of carbon fiber on top for a flat perfect result
Satin clear on carbon fibre looks soo good! 😍😍
Looks awesome, the dash in my ‘80 Corolla could use this treatment
Austin the Hilux of 1977 it's going to be awesome great great transformation
Austin. I just want to share what I saw in a video where a guy carbon fiber the roof of his car. One of the steps was, he vacuumed sealed it for curring.
Thank you for showing how to do this step by step ❤. These videos are seriously amazing.
You are so welcome!
Doin‘ a real good job on that pad. Even your ideas how to repair the cracked old one are awesome. Good craftsmanship and cool ideas. Greets from Germany
Thank you!!
Love the creativity and the brass to just go for it! Looks great!
Maybe try doing the epoxy when the ambient temperature is dropping. I use a fair amount of epoxys at work and most of them require you to do it when the temp is going down. It prevents off gassing.
Looking good brother. It’ll be the nicest Hilux to ever hit the road
Looks good Austin...check your tempurature between flashing could cause fish eye...
using a torch on the epoxy while it cures will bring out those fish eyes and other bubbles. helps the epoxy off gas and dry smooth
Many times with epoxy, you have to break the surface tension while it's wet. Maybe using a small needle or something. Also, using a torch over the surface can release air bubbles in the resin...
By surface tension, I'm referring to the areas (pinholes) where the epoxy doesn't flow smoothly. You break the surface tension around those spots by gently nudging the epoxy with a small pick or needle, etc... Then the epoxy should flow over the area smoothly. Using a torch afterward to release air bubbles can help also...
Thanks! I did try a torch and heat gun and it didn't do much for the air bubbles!
Maybe try vacuum infusion for the carbon? Not sure if that'll help the fish eyes but the uniformity of it might make a difference
Insane bro🔥🔥
Thanks homey
Turned out great. That black/white/carbon combo is on point. Not another out there with that detail work.
Awesome transformation, from junk to jewel
Fed up with the wait for the release of our presidential election results...but luckily...hilux build to tide me over....big up from Kenya🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Looks good. If your worried about glare off the dash but a light light tint on the windshield.
You have turned into my favorite RUclipsr man best of luck… love what your doing 💯
Man, I think you could clean up the dash just a tad more with some black coated screws! Looks pretty slick still
Looks great. Your videos keep giving me ideas for my 88 4runner and my wife is not happy about it haha. Keep up the great work!
Loving the progress and the carbon fiber touches you're adding. Looks killer
Austin.. You sir are the man My opinion is beautiful work in custom dash.. Sweet
Dash pad looks awesome. I appreciate your attention to detail and wanting to make it look good.
Looks incredible! Great job Austin
Wizard, for God's sake, go for a beer to celebrate this challenge. Congrats one more time!
In the early 80’s when I owned a hatch I used West system products and way’s completely satisfied. Good luck. 👍😎🇺🇸
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 I thought you had to vacuum wrap it. But this looks good..
عمل جيد
استمر
اتمنى أن نرى الشكل النهائي قريبا

I like the satin carbon look. You should do the center piece the same as well.
West system is the best and you can make you own bondo with it if you use their filler powders.
That came out Great,Looks Awesome!
You need to give yourself more credit I think it has come out amazing for your first dashboard repair cool and enjoyable vìd buddy
Looks sick man.. Nice job. It would look pretty rad with a black dash pad. The carbon fiber would give it a cool carbon fiber bull nose look.
Looks great, I've read good things about the west product. Thats what Ill be using.
🔥🔥🔥 bro this hilux is coming out sweet
For only doing carbon a couple times I wouldn't be too hard on yourself it turned out really nice I like the low gloss raw carbon look.
Did you think about flocking the dash to look like alcantara? Would be cool with a mix of carbon and alcantara.
Either way your interior is coming along nicely.
Nice save on the dash pad bud. It's gonna look ace when it's all completed. 🍻
She is beginning to reveal her plans of becoming another beauty! Great work!!
try using different kind of brush, avoid using silicone brush for epoxy, this should help for the pinholes.
100 % better looks good man
Well done for sure. I love the ambition!
Thank you!!

I think it looks great! As always, love your attention to detail.
Nice work, you’re doing great.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
The dash look amazing despite the imperfections.
That’s 100% I love that dash.
It was very good I liked it for my 78 Toyota
No, that looks great. I know there's little issues, but the part that faces you looks really good.
You should follow Mike Patey, he built Ann entire stol aircraft from mostly carbon fiber and shows how he did it.. check him out, might be beneficial.
Turn out great 👍
it turn out good man
Truck looks great brother, can't wait to see what's next.
Looks awesome
Looks great keep it 💯 stay real show Ur mistakes much love Ur a real one brah👊
Buy good paint brushes or use a sponge brush them cheap ones leave particles. And little pieces come off
You are an artist man
Looking great
Nicely Done. Keep up the good work.
Sorry I misspelled the word Yacht.
Perfection!
Looks great! Well done! 👏🏼
Compared to what the pad looked before. That came out great.
This is super satisfying to watch 🤤🤤🤤🤤😍
Keep it up

Saludos desde Chiapas, México
Love your work, awesome again!!!
Freaking awesome job beautiful
I don't need to visit the dentist for a while now.
To make it dissapear, dab some epoxy to the fish eye when it already dry..then sand it
Have you tryed using a tourch (flame) to blow over the epoxy resin when its wet to get rid of the fish eyes
Yes it did not help at all!
Ah thats a shame what about a foam paint roller rather than a brush more even coverage. Just an idea. Great work tho looks awesome what you are doing hilux is my dream truck very rare in uk for affordable price looking forward to seeing it complete 10 out of ten
Excellent work, as always!
I think it looks great
Your dashpad came out nice considering it began so terribly torn up.
It's a banger for sure
try a heat gun to remove air bubbles right after application??
Torch the resin brings the bubbles out
A U S T I N ! ! ! 👍🏼
Veri good 💪💪
Austin i think you did a find job
