  • With all of the new episodic Contant being produced for streaming networks and television, production companies are often in need of new directors at the helm. Directors are hired based on a variety of factors, including experience, sample reels, accolades, and referrals.
    In this session, filmmaker Menhaj Huda will discuss strategies on securing work as a director for TV/streaming series and networking with decision makers, as well as hear from participants on their current projects and answer relevant questions focused on breaking into episodic production.

    Director Menhaj Huda’s most recent body of work “Heist 88”starring two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Bassett Vance Productions (Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance) and Gunpowder & Sky, can currently be seen on the streamer Paramount + and linear on Showtime. The film premiered October 1, 2023 on Showtime to phenomenal ratings!
    Heist 88 is Showtime's #1 Original Movie of 2023 and has been seen by over 1.3M viewers to date across platforms in its first fourteen days of release and counting! The movie is the top viewed movie in almost two years since January 2022 for the cable network and streamer.
    Huda is an award-winning British Film and TV director, based in Los Angeles, best known for the UK urban hit, “Kidulthood”.
    Huda is a Co-Executive Producer on the BAFTA winning series “Gangs Of London” (SKY/AMC), which he originated and consults on.
    Having relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 he has been directing both high end episodic TV like the CW’s “The Flash”, “Charmed” and “Batwoman” as well as ABC’s “Queens” to name a few. On the TV movie front, he’s directed such projects as “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” and “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal”.
