SCOTT AUKERMAN endures Big Chunky Bubbles (PAUL F. TOMPKINS) in 6 hilarious COMEDY BANG! BANG! eps

- Clips from 6 episodes of Scott Aukerman’s Earwolf podcast “Comedy Bang! Bang!” featuring Paul F. Tompkins as children’s entertainer Big Chunky Bubbles, who debuted on a live show in Portland in 2016, hatched from a most mundane moment (with a voice inspired by W.C. Fields?), to become an instant favourite with subscribers to Stitcher, content now solely available at Comedy Bang! Bang! World (CBBworld.com) used here without permission and with thanks. Hopefully, these segments will entice new CBBW customers, itching to hear the entire shows these clips are from, plus 100 more live episodes. If you are a “Comedy Bang! Bang! fan (and why else would you be here?), there are few things as exciting as scrolling through DOZENS of UNHEARD episodes featuring your favourite performers. Removed from the shows I have used here, due to this being a Big Chunky Bubbles supercut, are great guest spots from Tim Baltz, Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Shaun Diston and two more Lauren Lapkus appearances, plus more from the guests that ARE heard here, Kristian Bruun, Mary Holland, Gillian Jacobs, Tatiana Maslany, Paul Rust and Neil Patrick Harris, a "Comedy Bang! Bang!" fan, whose CBB appearance is worth subscription alone, with stage gossip including Anne Heche’s infuriating acting choices and Patty LuPone’s boobs, plus NPH’s successful children’s book and his obsession and experience with the professional world of magic.
Following two live shows, Big Chunky Bubbles’ meteoric rise to fame went into overdrive, with his first appearance in a regular (free) episode. It’s a credit to Paul’s crazy, creative characterisation, that a guest with such an annoying voice and anti-social attitude could become so beloved, though he does garner some sympathy due to Scott infuriating him frequently, both accidentally (continually forgetting BCB's wife died) and deliberately. Usually deliberately.
After seven years of portraying legendary “Comedy Bang! Bang!” favourites, in Big Chunky Bubbles, Tompkins had created another outrageously original oddball, who has become more popular with many listeners than some of Paul's biggest fan favourites. PFT introducing Big Chunky Bubbles in a live show is mind-boggling to think of. Audiences expect an appearance from a regular, one of their favourites. A new character has to be extra-special. Of course, Big Chunky Bubbles wasn’t the first CBB weirdo Tompkins had let loose live without a safety net (that’d be JW Stillwater) and it wouldn’t be the last, a few new PFT characters making their debut on the 2019 tour, including man of the sea Ezekiel Craddock, crusty captain, but of all his characters introduced in a theatre, Big Chunky Bubbles is by far my favourite. BCB is so sincere in and so defensive of his ridiculous occupation, detailed descriptions creating vivid images of bubbling soups, stews and chowders and kiddies getting too close. He was an immediate hit (with THIS audience at least, not so-much the children's party crowd), but even if the character had flopped, however unlikely that may be, you’d have to give Tompkins top marks for courage. Fortunately confidence in his remarkable abilities prevailed and a spur-of-the-moment decision in a restaurant gave the lucky people of Portland the opportunity to see a legend born. He was just as popular at "Just For Laughs", in Montreal, again with an audience that, apart from Stitcher subscribers, hadn't heard of him.
BCB's journey ends, for now, appropriately where it began, in a theatre. This time a Kansas City crowd gives the now-famous Big Chunky Bubbles an excited and enthusiastic welcome (including shouts of "BCB!") and Tompkins turns in another triumphant performance, finding more ways to make his character comical. Hopefully PFT keeps coming up with new adventures for Big Chunky Bubbles and we will hear more from him in the future. Till then, enjoy re-living his past.

The idea of a critic writing in his review that BCB should get a job as a murder victim is so goddamn funny
Yes I think that’s the funniest line in that whole episode. I wonder if PFT ad-libbed that revue or if he had it written beforehand? He’s so fucking clever I’d believe he improvised it.
@@BabyFaceBren The Comedy Bang Bang book actually includes the full written review and its just as funny in text form
The idea of Big Chunky Bubbles/PFT walking out on stage to Hurt by Johnny Cash has me in hysterics
“IS THERE A GAS LEAK IN HERE?!?”
"AaahAaah, the base of my neck, the base of my neck! It's like someone's trying to screEeam. "
Hahaha this is so hilarious. PFT is a national treasure. I love him so much! Scott and Paul so bring out the best in each other. I was literally in tears for 90% of this- thanks for the quarantine laughs.
No worries. CBB helped me while away many hours in lockdown.
“WE LOVE YOU BIG CHUNKY”
"Do the kids get to eat the bubbles after?"
"**Get** to??? They end up eating them..."
2:26:10 "She gave the ultimate feedback." that destroyed me and only hurt worse because I couldn't stop laughing. Scott obviously low key hates BCB on a fundamental level to drop that on that poor guy.
I love too how Scott says "if you'll recall', as if BCB could forget (like Scott always does)
I relisten to this like.. once a week lol.
Yeah I listen to it a lot too! I think BCB and Al A. P are my two favourite PFT oddballs.
Thank you BFB! You're appreciated enormously!
Cheers, glad you like it. It had to be done!
”I’m Big Funky Bubbles”
Threedom is the prequel before they go completely insane.
i can't (can) believe i just put this on for a second and ended up listening to the whole thing in one sitting, including the entirety of the NPH part despite listening to that episode in full two days ago
Oh my god i almost screamed when he started describing his child with an extra skeleton that's real horror movie stuff
That skeleton was almost screaming too!
Thanks for sharing! BCB reminds me of Neil Hamburger.
The greatest “who cares?” I’ve ever heard !
I've forgotten the moment. Got a time code?

@@slowchromehand377 thanks. Agreed!
For some reason, I always imagine Big Chunky Bubbles as an elephant.
Now i only see that thanks funny
I picture him like the navigator/conductor from South Park's Imaginationland episodes.
I can't get that elephant image out of my mind. Somebody animate that!
I always thought of him dressed up like your standard Bozo the Clown type clown lol
i always picture him in a nice suit with a mustache idk why
I'll never get bored of this
ha ha I know what you mean. I found myself listening and laughing to it just a few nights ago. I've lost count of how many times I've heard it.
I keep coming back to this. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! Thank you! 🫧
ha ha you're welcome. It's one I come back to as well. In fact, part of it is in my CBB Christmas video, dropping in about 9 hours!!
It’s so funny that a fun description of food lead to such a self-loathing character 🤣🤣
Yeah it's the most random thing in the world to become an institution.
I love how this has over 100k+ views! BCB brings such joy people can't stay away.
Yep, I reckon I re-visit this one the most too!
And now I’m listening AGAIN! And laughing hard again.
@@BabyFaceBren He's the perfect entertainment!
I listen to this almost every night ...for some reason this video is like white noise for me
@@AdamRaba-ns7sh it’s one of the vids on my channel I listen to the most. I love the reception BCB gets from the audience in that last live ep. I was thinking when I last listened to this, I should do a “catch up” compilation with new appearances from characters since I made their tribute videos. BCB, Jarles etc. Something for 2024!
14 minutes in and im already crying
God, I'm gone at 5 minutes!
this is seriously intense
I listen to this at work and people look at me like I’m losing it because I’m constantly laughing
My stomach aches from laughing.
Years back I was waiting on a bus that wasn't coming. Two misses IIRC. People are piling up, it is beyond headphone time and I made the mistake of going "Oh shit, Andy Daly has an album called 'Nine Sweaters'? I'll just pop that on."
Just picture hearing Paddy's rant about a little girl's tricycle for the first time at a thrice-crowded bus stop.
I can imagine Mc Sugarbutt saying "Bee Cee Bee on Cee Bee Beeeee.... Bee Cee Bee by Pee Eff Teeeee. Thanks Bee Eff Beeee!"
Ha ha nicely done. You're welcome.
Oh my god. Thank you for this.
You're welcome. I still return again and again.
BabyFaceBren, you're a good fella for putting all of these together. Very grateful! Happy new year
Happy new year!
53:24 says episode 355 but it's actually 446. You're a gem BFB, I've listened to this about 10 times I'd reckon
Thanks Rev, but I'm sitting here with a confused expression and hearing the words of my dear departed dad: "Have you been drinking your bathwater?". Scott says episode 446, the title card says 446 (you may notice the date is different - Scott says it was September 18th, but the Stitcher info says "September 19" which it was in Australia where our CBB drop day is Tuesday afternoon) but 446 is definitely the ep with Tatiana etc. Where is the "355" you see? That's a "Kid Detectives" episode. Am I missing something? It IS after midnight here.
@@BabyFaceBren Although it sounds like I was half pissed when I wrote that comment I was only half asleep, reading it back it's pretty incoherent - half awake translation - "In the description it says 355 but the episode is 446"
For anyone curious, the comedian they can't remember at the end is Dmitry Martin.
4:35 Big Gillian Jacobs Energy
I love you
Thank you. This is truly glorious.
You're welcome.
This is just glorious.
God bless you.

@@BabyFaceBren checking in bro lol 🤣
Thanks. This is actually really good. Love yah bruh
back at ya
I feel like at this point BCB is just a chance for Scott and Paul F to work out their friendship conflicts by proxy. Of course that would be funny as fuck
If that IS the case, Scott thinks more highly of Paul than vice versa.
Hey BFB, BCB makes another hilarious appearance in the new 13th CBB anniversary episode
Cool. Thanks for heads up Jacob
Cookie make soup!
These have been getting me through work lately, thank you good sir
Glad to hear it, you're welcome.
Welp, there goes my afternoon.
You wrote the most high quality description ever lol
Thanks for editing these together!
No worries, glad you like it. Gotta share that Big Chunky love!
So bloody good, thanks for this :)
You're welcome. Enjoy!
Oh what a dream! I changed my idea of heaven
BCBs appearance in Superego Season 6 was amazing
Thanks for that, I haven't heard it!
Thanks heaps for alerting me to that appearance. It WAS amazing! I included it in a video ruclips.net/video/Z9mRs-aVv20/видео.html
legit cannot tell if Scott is doing a bit or truly believes that a poor version of a meal does not count as that meal.
Maybe my favorite argument Scott and PFT have ever had in character
BCB and Squidward would probably be good friends in real life 😂
Brinkley, noo!
22:20 🤌🤌🤌
My eyes are so bad, emojis are lost on me, apart from those I know and use a lot (cucumber, mouth, droplets, etc). I hadn't seen this one before and had to take a screenshot, paste it into "paint"and enlarge it. And I still have no fucking idea what it is.
it is so funny how they work an ad for leesa mattress into all of the live tour shows in 2016. lauren is the best at it
I love that too. It's cool that the audience gets it. Those are REAL fans of the show!
Killing it! Got tomorrow off, can't wait to listen to this and do jack shit
Enjoy!
I wish we could have a CBB SNL takeover, where the top CBB stars takeover SNL for one episode. It would literally be the best episode in decades.
Wow what a great idea. Lorne would never go for improv though. It'd have to be scripted!
3:22:06 tehe
"I'm first amendment all the way, baby" (BCB says baby too!)
Glad, this exists. I will admit I get tired of Tompkins bein on too often (not near as much past two years), but I know the moment the show finally ends I will look up compilations of some of his best characters like this.
Am the only one that thinks Big Chunky Bubbles sounds like W.C.Fields on heroin ?? Ok the heroin reference is a bit much ..... how about W.C Fields reincarnated as a Manic Depressive?
Kind-of. I mention the similarity to WC Fields in the description, but I didn’t think of the heroin.
LOL .. he's on some kind of a downer@@BabyFaceBren
@@dataglassesHE is a downer!
Holy crap there's always that one person, that seems like they haven't been out in years, that cackles like some nutjob and ruins the show.
This is so far in the future they’re not speaking English…
I must be there too. I understood every word!
3 and a half hours of Big Chunky Bubbles? Someone might be a tad overexposed
Yeah, 6 episodes in 6 years, SO over-exposed.
Idk if anyone has ever addressed this but I swear this is droopy IRL 😂
I certainly haven't ever addressed it, because I have no idea what that means.
@@BabyFaceBrendroopy the sad dog from the old cartoons
@@joseescobar8315 oh. Lol. Could be but I’m pretty sure he’s doing WC Fields ruclips.net/video/yOHGr8r5Cs4/видео.htmlsi=R0k795C_IM5_OiN7

Yet so so good!
