  • Aspiring writers, directors and producers often have unique and innovative script, however some of biggest challenges they face is how to move their project into the development and production phase especially when it comes to the animation genre. In order to the do this, it is imperative to take have not only a great series, but also a fully packaged product and business plan. These elements will provide a much clearer picture of your goals and vision when approaching financiers, agents, managers, studios, production companies, TV/streaming networks, and showrunners.
    In this session, writer/director/producer Patrick Metcalf will provide strategies, advice and feedback on how to organize your concept, create and develop an animated series.

    Patrick Metcalf is a WGA Award-winning writer, director, and producer who most recently worked as a writer/producer on the critically acclaimed series UNDONE for Amazon. His episode of UNDONE (S2E7 "Rectify") received wide acclaim, with RogerEbert.com calling it “arguably the most detailed and complex designs the show has ever tackled to striking success.” In addition to writing for the show, Patrick was the on-set producer/AD/props/wardrobe/sometimes hair/location manager, and more for the second season as they battled to shoot through the first wave of COVID. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Patrick attended Northwestern and has brought his midwestern sensibility to Los Angeles.
