2020's vibrancy is like those super saturated HDR photos. It's very pretty at first but becomes obnoxious over time. Really the one thing I prefer from X-Plane's look is the palettes and the haze for the same reason. I really wanna try out how the flight model has changed now.
2020's green-tinted dirt areas like the bluffs on the left @8:05 drove me up the wall. I especially notice it around my home area of the southern B.C. Interior, where the lower mountains are mostly brown save for s few scattered evergreens. In 2020, it all has a green hue probably due to the Bing maps imagery having a green wash to everything. This comparison gives me hope. Thanks!

I probably should add that to videos because it is a good question. I have been telling most of those that have asked, if your current setup is running 2020 well, especially in DX12, you shouldn’t have a problem at all. At time of recording I am running a 12th gen intel with 32 gb of ram with a 4090 and three screens. That’s overkill for sure. I’d be more focused on the CPU with this title than most.

One thing I'm hesitant about in MSFS2024 is that it will have the same low-quality areas as 2020. 2020 looks great in some areas, but at Lake Garda, and the Northern Mediterranean coast, it looks terrible and doesn't resemble the actual landscape almost at all.
@@kaio37k The alpha period ended and I don’t have the ability to fly in it until another test period or the full release. Is it a perfect rendition of our entire earth? No. If that is a strict requirement then you may be disappointed.
To me the visual fidelity of the Tech Alpha was a HUGE leap forward compared to MSFS 2020. I will also say the smoothness of 2024 in flight seems far superior to 2020.
Under graphics options it says render scaling. You can either scale up or down above your native resolution. It is a nice way to push your GPU (or give it some relief). Hope this helps.
No one seems to show off the city autogen and it doesn't seem like they improved it at all. In MS2020 there are tons of cities that have one single building texture repeated on all buildings in a city, so I really hope they add more autogen variation like they have with trees, otherwise trees won't help with immersion if every second building looks exactly the same...and hand picked photogrammetry cities will never cover over 99% of the earth.
Thanks for the input. I was frustrated with myself for forgetting to make sure that 2024 was set at the same time, but both default to the current day and the sun appeared to be close to the same position after reviewing the issue. Because of this, I felt it didn't require a reshoot. I think that the difference in lighting is mostly due to the way MSFS 2024 handles it vs 2020.
Too late now but someone should have found a "real life" video from a bushtrip, and then flown the same route using 2024 and 2020 to make comparison between real life and "video game" quality. Great video here tho.
Nice trees in MSFS 2024 so far, but what about the tropics? like the Maldives for example, in MSFS 2020 they still use European trees, not a coconut palm in sight, even with 3rd party software the base islands lack proper indigenous trees. I see all the tech alpha RUclipsrs, have all concentrated on videos showing off the western world, such as Canada, or the grand canyon etc, maybe due to deliberate Asobo limitations on the tech alpha where they could fly. But what is India like, or the far east, or south america? Will proper rain forest trees be represented, along with other species in their proper geo locations? MSFS 2020 trees are awful, even after countless updates they look terrible. Asobo are notorious for ignoring the communities requests, just look at their lack of a basic Flyby camera or Tower view camera despite countless requests, they never listen to the community, just pretend they do. Whilst this new sim looks better, its not a major leap forward as many are pretending. As for scratches in the perspex cockpit windows, MSFS 2020 has that also with many of its own aircraft and addon aircraft, so that's not a graphical upgrade. Enjoyed the comparison and cheers for the upload.
It is unbelievable how much better 2024 looks against 2020 even without photogrammetry and grass.... 2024 has much better lightings trees... 2020 is too greenish

@@nunosantos2015 that you can't have real life...sorry. For a game like this that gives you the whole world faithfully recreated to fly in it is pretty incredible, I don't know if you've seen the presentations they've done on the new physics and aerodynamics and the more than 4 thousand points of interaction compared to the few in 2020. The terrain graphics have improved embarrassingly. They have a more scientific approach now with aircraft physics, using calculations and numbers. You listed a lot of improvements yourself only you discredited them by saying it was little while in fact the work is really a lot. Again you can't have a world detailed down to the color of the couch in your house, we should be grateful for what msfs2024 offer that no simulator has ever offered. It also weighs 28 gb compared to the current 128...I really could stand here and list all the improvements we've been told about all these months but everyone has different standards, maybe you're not satisfied, I am, that's okay. All good 🙌
You can set the bandwidth you want. Playing with 20mb/s looks fine. Also, the vast majority of people have unlimited internet now. So its literally a non-factor.
How can you really say fs2020 is the best piece of software visually? It's not that great, some places look amazing, but most places look okay, and many places horrible. If it weren't for clouds and lighting, it would be nothing.
Your audio is distant and raspy (sibilance) and poppy, bordering on unintelligible. whatever clever filter you are running, don't. 2024 looks pretty good but the water reflections are screen space which makes them wrong a lot of the time. Not sure why they do that, doing it right shouldn't be that demanding even without raytracing
Audio has been fixed since (in the subsequent video). There was no “clever filter”, just a cheap mic. It was paid for magically, through your positivity, so thank you.
Given this is two separate sims running a half hour apart on one PC (I’m just a guy with the same equipment you probably have), I’m pretty pleased how close they were.
@@gstrdms Did anyone think it’s the full version? Did you? The “Tech Alpha, or “beta” as it was labeled by Microsoft when I clicked it to start it, performed better than 2020, looks better, loads quicker and installs lighter. If you conclude that’s clickbait, so be it.
@@BushBuddha-d2x Yes, it's misleading to people who were not involved in the Alpha test or were not aware. It's worth adding to the title to clarify that it isn't a direct comparison between full release versions. The alpha is lacking MANY features that will be available on launch that would make an even starker contrast in this type of comparison. Flora and fauna will be added as well as improved sat imagery. It's unfair to paint this as simply a 2020 vs 2024 comparison.
using this simulated world just for msfs is a true waste of potential... imagine a cross game world where there are boats simulators, train simulators, heck even forza horizon. they should even use this world to replace bing maps...
Who said anything about this only being for msfs. Youre just making up wild assumptions. Jorg has said it was Microsoft who wanted to make the digital twin. And they get to benefit off it for their project. So yes, its highly correlated to Microsoft at large. Not Asobo.
MSFS might impress the armatures because yes it does look good, but , it fails year after year in the fact there are no warm air currents rising and no cold air currents falling . There is no turbulence from mountains from the push on the wind side to the down draughts in the Lee side. MSFS is child's kids game and nothing more .
Sounds like you are uninformed about what the sim is capable of. They do have thermals that bounce off the mountains and rise simulated in MSFS. Asobo even showcased how it works in one of the developer Q&A. You can even turn on the visual representation to visualize it.
@@ryanwright3965 I was just thinking this. Saying in my mind........didn't I just see a button to visually display thermals this morning while playing with the weather settings??? 🤣
OK, so 2024 and I’ve noticed this in every video 2024’s colors looked very bleached. They do not look real. There is more color to the world than these very bright sand type colors. There’s a lot of good things in 2024 but I think there’s a lot of good things in 2020. I think they’re both equal in their own right. The only thing that’s different in 2024 is the engine that they are using for the simulator. Other than that, I don’t really see anything that would convince me to switch my Sims at the moment. 2020 in my opinion has finally come into its own. The amount of money I have spent and the add-ons and everything that I have for 2020 at this point is not worth me switching over to 2024. Now I’m not saying that won’t happen in the future but as of right now, I’m happy with 2020 and it’s running smooth. I get great frame rates and it runs excellent in VR
i wouldn't call them bleached, especially that it lacks the green hue that 2020 has, that makes images look dirty in both orthos, and just the sim itself, still, if you already own and are happy with 2020, the only reason id switch to 2024 is if you want the improved flight model, or the new planes, load times, or don't have 2020, otherwise, 2020 will remain a good option regardless

I think you can use the tablet by pressing "Tab" in keyboard
To me the visual fidelity of the Tech Alpha was a HUGE leap forward compared to MSFS 2020. I will also say the smoothness of 2024 in flight seems far superior to 2020.
I'm ready to move to msfs24 and never look back
Great visuals. Microphone too close.
When you say upscaled, what do you mean, how do you "upscale"?
Under graphics options it says render scaling. You can either scale up or down above your native resolution. It is a nice way to push your GPU (or give it some relief). Hope this helps.
Ah, OK, that's great, thanks. Enjoyed the video BTW.
You just earned a sub!
No one shows it because it’s using older autogenerate for the alpha test, but that’s not a bad thing, the alpha does not represent the final product.
@@zeljkothegreekserb I don’t know to many bush pilots that fly in cities often.
Why couldn't we just reduce saturation on 2020?
Om msfs 2024 looks much better. But you shouldve used same time of day. Or is it the same? Is it such an upgrade?
Thanks for the input. I was frustrated with myself for forgetting to make sure that 2024 was set at the same time, but both default to the current day and the sun appeared to be close to the same position after reviewing the issue. Because of this, I felt it didn't require a reshoot. I think that the difference in lighting is mostly due to the way MSFS 2024 handles it vs 2020.
They are two different seasons
3:08 quick turn away, turn away....!
So they didn't fix ground textures? Shit still looks cooked
Simulator 2024 sucks up to 180 Mb/s of internet bandwidth while in flight - peak rate equivalent to 81GB of data per hour
I heard. Fortunately, I am not limited on bandwidth.
They have different biomes with different tree models now.
@@turkoman859 I hope there will be, but we will have to wait and see, cheers anyway for your reply.
great video buddha
I prefer 2020 graphics
Bear in mind photogeommetry is disabled on this technical test, so are many other graphical options.
It is unbelievable how much better 2024 looks against 2020 even without photogrammetry and grass.... 2024 has much better lightings trees... 2020 is too greenish
@@milansabojunior agreed. 1000%
i don't see much difference, only with the trees the rest is pretty much the same
😂😂 wtf, put on some sunglasses
@@Trip_on_the_Sky i have both, and i don't see much diference... just the trees mate , color and reflexions a little bit better and terrain a little bit better but nothing😮on physics the trees effect moving with wind is kind the same of msfs2020 , cars on the road still a little bit stupid too like ghost.. when landing on the water the waves looks exactly the same just like playstation 3 ... it's not a big upgrade yet, for me this is like copy paste and add this and that.. i believe will get better with time but not impress yet in my rtx 4090. ive seen better graphics on terrain, water , trees but considering its a flight game is pretty okay but not mind blowing yet .. not in default for sure even in ultra high. i hope will make diference when new updates comes in 👌
@@nunosantos2015 that you can't have real life...sorry. All good 🙌
@@nunosantos2015 The trees in MSFS2020 are 2D and don't have wind physics. What do you mean it's kind of the same?
I dont like the new light its more cinematic but not realistic
MSFS 2020 compared to a tech alpha.
Gr8 video. I'm struggling to hear your voice clearly, though.
It will be improved in the future. It's a learning process.

Bro wasted half the screen space with that weird 'side-by-side'
@@theyshouldhavenevergivenme5439 Bro. I could have cut the screens down but then someone would have moaned about it. It’s just geometry…bro.
I stopped caring about 2024 when I heard the amount of d/l per hour. It's ridiculous.
You can set the bandwidth you want. Playing with 20mb/s looks fine. Also, the vast majority of people have unlimited internet now. So its literally a non-factor.
@@FrostbitexP it's a factor is you have anyone else using the Internet
How can you really say fs2020 is the best piece of software visually?
It's not that great, some places look amazing, but most places look okay, and many places horrible.
If it weren't for clouds and lighting, it would be nothing.
@@althepsyphros3314 Sounds like this is an “agree to disagree” situation.
It was paid for magically, through your positivity, so thank you.
should have done side by side, split screen AND exactly the same angles...
Given this is two separate sims running a half hour apart on one PC (I’m just a guy with the same equipment you probably have), I’m pretty pleased how close they were.
@@BushBuddha-d2x Oh,ok"

MSFS2024 seems more artificial
TECH ALPHA - not full version. Don't clickbait.
Fs2020 Win
using this simulated world just for msfs is a true waste of potential... imagine a cross game world where there are boats simulators, train simulators, heck even forza horizon. they should even use this world to replace bing maps...
I've literally used both thermals and ridge lift in MSFS to fly the gliders and it works pretty well. Maybe you have your settings wrong?
Yeah man all that stuff was in msfs2020.
It would be good to know the spec of your computer...
And you do you, but keep in mind, they have greatly improved just about everything, and almost all addons transfer over to 2024.
i wouldn't call them bleached, especially that it lacks the green hue that 2020 has, that makes images look dirty in both orthos, and just the sim itself, still, if you already own and are happy with 2020, the only reason id switch to 2024 is if you want the improved flight model, or the new planes, load times, or don't have 2020, otherwise, 2020 will remain a good option regardless
2020 seems better in some places 24 looks a bit cartoonish
@@alexsp7086 Hmmm. Given the saturation levels of 20 that’s exactly how I would describe it. I guess it is a subjective thing.
