This movie is everything to me! Growing up in Iran most of these movies were banned but we still managed to get a copy and watched it in VHS when I was 8!! Watching this in 4K with my girlfriend on my channel with the greatest fans is unreal!! Hope you enjoy this reaction ❤️

Robert Patrick is definitely one of the most terrifying terminator actors in history, simply because he suppressed not just a majority of human emotions, but also basic actions, like blinking or breathing. Superb acting!
But if the Terminators are invented to blend into human society, wouldn't an inability to breathe or blink be a bad thing? They are supposed to be infiltration units, identical to a human--it's not identical at all and easily noticeable if your friend never breathes or blinks lol. Like Skynet would want their terminators to act like they need to breathe and blink and eat and drink and sleep, to not do so would be a failure of a terminator
@@KrazzeeKane I suppose Skynet didn't need to go into those details because by the time the subject discovered it's a machine, they'd be dead. If they were introduced during peace time, as a workforce, that'd be different I think. Cosmetics and little "real life" features would be somewhat important.
@@KrazzeeKane In the end it is a movie. And to get the audiences emotion, you sometimes have to bend logic a tiny bit. The 'not breathing and blinking' might not be a logical thing to do, if you want to blend in as a terminator, but it gets the audience. It's just that little bit uncanny. The Viewer doesn't notice exactly why he feels like this from watching T2 once. That's just good film making at this point.
@@KrazzeeKane Fair points, but notice Patrick's T1000 doesn't always act robotically; when necessary, it's quite personable, as with John's foster parents. It's only when the T1000 knows it has no reason to keep-up the charade that it drops all those superfluous actions, and that's when Robert goes full mechanical. It's a 1-2 of amazing acting meeting excellent attention to detail, and it makes you believe in Patrick as the T1000 on almost a subconscious level. At no point do I think, "that's a guy playing a machine"; all I think is "that machine is *terrifying*, please keep it away from me".
The film is a masterpiece. I can only imagine people going to the theatres on release and the moment the audience realizes Arnold is the good guy. The CGI for the T1000 still holds up today 32 years later. Timeless movie and masterpiece
At the time, the trailers ruined that twist. Everyone knew he was a good guy in the theater, but it was great to see someone react to it that genuinely didn't know.
I remember watching it on 4th of July weekend at the drive in theater. I wonder if teenagers today will experience a movie experience like that. All time favorite action movie, for sure.

Very true. Back in the 90s I had a VCR so I could record movies and I watched them again and again and again. These days there's nothing I want to rewatch anymore. I watch it once and forget about it.
One thing that always amazes me is how so few people realize that John's foster mother is Jenette Elise Goldstein, the actor who played Vasquez in Aliens. You know an actor is good when you don't even notice the actor playing the character.
The best part about the Dyson scene is seeing how much John takes control of the situation just showing the type of leader. He become what guy you did. He takes the boy out of the room so the adults can have a conversation the mark of a leader.
That and I also like how the Terminator waits for a final confirmation from John to cut its arm to reveal itself to Dyson once his son Danny is showing his room to John to keep him distracted .
The scary thing about Sarah nearly killing Miles Dyson is that she nearly became, essentially, a Terminator - albeit a human one. She was gonna murder a person for something he hasn't done yet, because of the importance of his survival and work for future events.

You are right on the money about that. 👍 In fact mate, there is a "Making Of" 30 minute documentary that was made 'round the film's release, where James Cameron himself notes that very point. He says that at that scene in the movie, Sarah becomes a Terminator in her own right. Emotionless, Impassive and expressionless as she zeros the lazer on Miles's head as she targets him. Just as cold and calculated as the Terminator itself, before she breaks down with the realisation of it all. It is a fantastic scene that, gets better over time and views.

Fun Fact: Both Linda Hamilton and the Security guard getting coffee in the institution have twin siblings, so their twins were used in the movie when both Sarah and the guard were on screen with their duplicates. No camera tricks needed for those scenes. Sadly, Leslie Hamilton Gearren passed away in 2020 from cancer, but while not officially an actress and was a nurse in real life, she had a pretty neat screen presence in one of the greatest movies ever! Also, you have to give a lot of credit to Robert Patrick, his performance made the T-1000 an intimidating villain despite being half of Arnold Schwarzenegger's size. By the way, keep it up with these reactions. You guys rock!
That's so weird because for some reason I had heard all about the twin security guards, even saw a featurette on it. Never heard about Linda's twin though.

i think they are using certain movies and video games to condition people to accept giving ai robots rights someday in the future. i've seen people on video game comments already arguing that androids should be allowed to have rights and we're not even there yet. people are so easily manipulated by the media and hollywood. they can program people to think any way they want, they've been gradually programming their minds since the television was invented, and now the internet had taken it to a whole other level. they are basically turning the masses into robots, unable to think for themselves. i can't even imagine what it'll be like 100 years from now, after another century of increasingly intense brainwashing. by then the people really will be like cyborgs or something, they get people to want all these different surgeries to alter their bodies with all these disgusting artificial implants and stuff. it started with make-up, piercings, and tattoos, now it's moved on to breast, ass, and lip implants, God only knows what new disgusting things they'll have people doing to themselves in another 20+ years. people will probably voluntarily get chips put into them, and possibly even robotic enhancements like we've seen in some games. the satanic things running this world have gradually conditioned people to believe their natural bodies are not good enough and they need artificial implants and crap. they're gradually taking away their humanity and i think literally turning them into robots, just wait and see.
Ash's question at 28:59 is actually addressed in a deleted scene. John and Sarah open up the T-800's head and reprogram it to be able to learn, thus becoming more human as the film progresses.
That scene is the only one I think adds to the movie, and I wish it was still there. The change in the T-800's behavior, John protecting the chip from Sarah, the trick shot with Linda Hamilton's twin sister - all wonderful.
@@JRMAV1 Though it's KINDA cool that being frozen makes him start glitching, it doesn't pay off in any meaningful way to give him a "weakness" at that point. It's scarier that he's still seemingly invincible. Plus it is WAY less satisfying story-wise when he's exposed as being a fake Sarah by his feet visibly glitching instead of through John's emotional connection with his mother.
The channels in the USA for on demand, "Starz", usually show that footage of Sarah cutting the back of the T-800's head open to get to the back of the skull and flip the switch. It's cool stuff.
When you've seen this film 100 times and the goodbye scene still makes you cry. INCREDIBLE

21:16 Funny facts: Ken Gibbel who played that guy with the glasses who licked Sarah Connor's face (Linda Hamilton) had a difficult time doing that scene because he felt extremely uncomfortable with the act, but Linda was perfectly fine with it. However, she and the director (James Cameron) were getting impatient and frustrated with Ken because they had to redo that scene many times because Ken would hesitate or completely chicken out which ruined the scene and forced them all to redo it until he eventually got it right. In the scene where Sarah (Linda) hits the glasses guy (Ken) with a broken broom handle, she actually hit Ken for real in the mouth even though that broom handle was a movie prop and the blood that he spat out was fake It hurt him for real and his reaction was genuine but he stayed in character in that scene to redeem himself for the many reshoots of the previous scene with Linda.
If I ever become an actor that has to do a love/kissing scene with a pretty actress, I'm gonna make a mess of it at least a couple of times, just so we can go again

Robert Patrick is as close to an actual machine we can get when it comes to actors. Dude was the ultimate chad of his day. - The scene where the T-1000 chases John as he gets on the bike out of the shopping mall, see the director was worried that the kid on the bike would be going too fast to make the chase look convincing. But the kid still floored it on the bike, and in the first take Robert CATCHES HIM ON THE BIKE. - He trained to be able to sprint after cars and fight without panting or changing his face, because "a machine wouldn't show signs of tiredness". - He trained to fire guns with both hands equally well, because "a machine wouldn't be right handed, it would use whichever hand was the most efficient at the time". - He trained to fire entire clips of ammunition WITHOUT BLINKING, and he got upset that there's one scene in the movie where he blinks when firing a gun (where he first meets Arnold and fires at him and John in the mall). He actually tried to get them to film that scene again because he was so upset that he blinked, but because they were on a tight film schedule they couldn't shoot it again. - Arnie was surprised by Robert actually throwing him around a bit.
I second all you said! Robert made an incredible impression with this film. And its great to see him do very well in the world today, be it shows like Reacher, The Peacemaker, or anything else he's succeeding in. I was thrilled at the time when, he landed a leading role in The X-Files which was my favourite show at the time. He was awesome in that, and carried it well in its last seasons.
What's really great about John Connor in this movie with the terminator is that it shows how John intuitively understood how the machines were missing certain characteristics that made them inferior to humans. He was teaching the terminator, but what he was really doing was showing how the terminator wasn't as smart as a street smart/crafty human being. Even the slap me five game, he outsmarted the terminator with the hit me low, pulling his hand away, "too slow!" trick. He showed him where the keys were in the visor and said, "Are we learning yet?" much like a parent would speak to a child. John is only a young child with a cracking voice, but he already shows the natural human tools that make him superior to the terminator. It foreshadows the future John Connor and how and why he would perfectly run circles around the machines in the future.
This movie is my childhood. So important to me. Practical effects. Ground breaking cgi that stands up to today's movies. Acting, emotions,one liners, action.
Fun fact: Robert Patrick got the role because he walked into the casting room, said absolutely nothing and just stared at James Cameron. He also learned how to shoot and reload without blinking.

You get to see how powerful the last scene is... that even Ash falls silent, even when he's seen this movie a number of times (and Hannah, telling herself it's just a robot... over and over... like doing so would stop her from crying 😁). A testament to how good this movie really is.
I genuinely could not love Hannah more lol, truly. Endless amount of heart, super thoughtful and smart insights, so hilarious, her looks to Ash/to the camera kill me lol... I always want to comment a quote of hers but there's genuinely always too many. Also it was so endearing to see Ash get to share this movie with her - you can feel through the screen how much it means to him. Anyway, as per usual, this was so much fun and so heartwarming. I still remember being a kid on the couch and telling my grandmother how much I didn't want the terminator to die. Bless her soul, she had no idea what in the heck was going on but she assured me that in the future they could rebuild him and even went so far as to say that maybe one day I could have my own robot. lmfao she truly was doing her best!

So far this is the best reaction I’ve seen with Hannah. She cried when a few moments earlier she marked Dyson for death, was aghast, got “no no” finger wag, laughed, through in a “Termy” when Ahnold dropped the gun. In the extended cut there is a scene where Sarah and John reset the Terminator allowing him to learn. That's the reason he suddenly starts to develop a personality.
I kinda hate the part where they removed the inhibitor chip was cut from the theatrical. It explains why no Terminator before this one ever rebelled against programming or evolved. Skynet wasn't stupid. They did what humans didn't consider and leashed their creations.
@@DonnaCPunk i agree. The Director's Cut also has an unnecessary murder of John's dog by the T-1000. That wasn't needed imo. The Theatrical cut is perfect... I'm not sure why Cameron didn't think so. I also prefer the Theatrical Cut of Aliens cuz the queen's intro is unexpected, whereas the Director's Cut includes a scene where they discuss the birthing cycle of the xenomorph and the possibility of a egg-laying queen.
“They just don’t make movies like this anymore” It has to do with a lot of factors but mainly, I think, it's because the plot makes sense (even if it's sci fi) and the characters act in a way in accordance with reality. During the movie the audience can predict the next step because it's what we would do in the same situation and, I can't stress this enough, everyone has flaws that need to either overcome or live with. Great reaction and the best to you both.
In 100% agreement with Ash, completely share his sentiment when he says every scene in this movie is perfect. Hands down the greatest sci-fi action movie of all time. James Cameron was on another level when he made this masterpiece.
Ash ain't wrong - THE best action film hands down: other action films have great components, but this is the complete package from start to finish: perfect script, perfect cast, perfect effects.... perfect everything! While entertaining, sadly even other Terminator films from this point on can't compete with this total masterpiece!
I saw T1 and T2 on release and I think T1 is marginally better because it was groundbreaking in its story and special effects. Predator is equal with T2.

Seeing Hannah react without the knowledge of who was pursuer and who was protector, something the trailers for this movie stupidly gave away, was awesome. I do have to say that there is an extended edition of this movie that has scenes that improve it even more and dive deeper into certain elements of the story and enhance it, such as Sarah learning to trust the T-800 while having it in a state of vulnerability and showing the T-1000 glitching after it melts and puts itself back together in the steel factory. What it was doing while it was melting and shapeshifting in the steel was glitching out as its nanotechnology was frying. But the shimmer it had after beating the T-800 down was a glitch, but there are a couple of small scenes that show more glitching, which are fantastic.
Linda Hamilton was absolutely outstanding in this. Not just her physical transformation, she went through an unbelievable transformation as an actor. One of those performances that is so good it actually ruins immersion because the other actors look woody when she is so good.
Don’t forget her twin sister Leslie, busting @§ here as well. She’s wasn’t even an actor and agreed to do this since they need a duplicate of Sarah and Linda just so happens to have one squirreled away.😂
Iconic masterpiece of a movie! I remember watching it on Sky Movies aged 7 & now almost 30 years later still looks and feels more incredible than most films today.
T2 is no joke! Absolute god tier movie, I used to watch this nearly everyday as a kid and never got bored. As an adult I just keep getting impressed every time I watch it. It's such a contrast to the first movies script amazing. The first movie is just the appetizer, T2 is the main course, shame about the rest :(
Terminator Salvation was pretty decent compared to all the other crap films that came after. It also expands the Terminator lore by introducing the earlier T-600, hunter killers and the T-700 in the toy line.
This would be one of those rare occasions where Hannah is completely clueless for a significant amount of time 😂 And I love how Ash was enjoying every bit of it with, may be, all of the die hard fans of this masterpiece
I feel a little bad, but when Termie gives his "thumbs-up" as he goes into the steel, and it just breaks the reactor down like it did poor Hannah, I always have a little chuckle. Because then I recall 13-year-old me watching that scene back in the 90s and it literally reducing me to a blubbering, sobbing heap of emotions. Great reaction as always. ❤
Nominated for 6 Oscars. It won Best Visual Effects Best Sound Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Makeup It's one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made. Rock star Billy Idol was almost cast as the villainous T-1000 but got into a motorcycle accident injuring his leg. Robert Patrick was cast instead. The character was going to be in the first Terminator, but the technology didn't exist at the time, and the character wouldn't be available till the sequel. There are some early storyboards that bear a striking resemblance to Idol.

Should have gotten at least a best picture nomination. And I don't ever say that. There's lots of movies I LOVE ....but of the movies I LOVE only maybe two or three I would say should've gotten best picture nomination or deserved their best picture nomination. And Linda Hamilton should've been up for best actress. Which I believe they campaigned for. Should've been a given. Even if Jodie Foster still won for Silence of the Lambs...because if anything has to beat Terminator 2 and I don't end up feeling it got robbed, Silence of the Lambs is a good one. It's respectable to lose to Silence of the Lambs. T2 is much more than winning in only technical categories is what I'm saying..
You say that as if there _is_ any other Terminator movies past T2. As far as I'm aware the studio said "Well, that was a masterpiece. No way we could top that, we'll leave it at 2."
3 has kind of grown on me. The premise is great, but all the Terminator stuff is embarrassing parody. 4 has always been decent, but it's an overcorrection, and I personally don't care for Sam Worthington. I hate 5 and I love 6, aside from a couple of boneheaded maneuvers in the script. It was great to see Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor, and it was considerate of them to dispense with the whole Great Man Theory of History thing. John was great because he was in the position to rise to the occasion, not because he's the second coming of Christ.
@@StreetHierarchy Kinda the entire point of a time paradox thing. He was the second coming because she was like "Mary" and only because he sent his father to die could he be born. It works in that manner because she was there to make him who he had to become. The entire battle against fate when the future already happend and got involved... that's where it tweaks the brain as you must fail for the start to begin, instead you cause the paradox.
I just recently stumbled onto your channel and I'm so glad I did. You guys are so entertaining! And Hannah is simply too precious for words! One of my favorite pieces of symbolism in T2 is how, when Sarah goes after Dyson, she does so with this laser sharp focus and relentless, murderous intent. She literally becomes his terminator. But she's not a robot, she's human, and her love of humanity was what stopped her from killing him. As a film, of any genre, T2 is an absolute masterpiece.
now I'm not 100% on this but I heard that the way Arnold reloaded the lever action shotgun in the chase scene was so iconic that many folks complained after they tried to copy it and found that you couldn't actually do it due to how the gun was made. Until the shotguns own manufacturing company remodelled it so it could now be reloaded like that and sold it as a collectors item.
While the chase scene is amazing, the 2 best action chase scenes are Bullit and French Connection. Absolutely love the two of you reacting. Whether it is Hannah giving you the side eye for admiring a female, or her lambasting you for just about anything you do wrong. Great channel with great reactions!

I saw this for the first time when I was about 10 and my parents had just split and it was nasty and messy and heartbreaking and to see John losing his father figure at the end hurt SO BAD!! Sarah Conner, not long after giving birth, she began to train physically and mentally non stop for ten years to be ready for Judgement day and the possibility of another Terminator attack. Everything from hand to hand combat, weapons, driving any vehicle including aircraft. She also studied psychological warfare, how to deal with interrogations and so on. She was as ready as she could be.
What's fascinating is that Sarah has had the nightmare of Judgement Day for so long, it had driven her to the point of madness and nearly made her become a terminator psychologically when she was going to kill Dyson. If she had gone through with it, she would have become the very thing she hated.
This film is a god damned masterpiece - not a single wasted actor, not a single wasted scene, not a single wasted _dollar_ (and it was the most expensive movie ever made, at that time).

The Terminator was not programmed to have a sense of humor. It's CPU is capable of learning new things (it utilizes neural networks, which is a real thing computer science) and John as a kid, was teaching him to be more human. Not just the surface level behaviour patterns, but also deeper details like a sense of humor and the value of human life.
Great reaction, you guys. I just recently started watch you two, and I love how you are aligned with and supportive of each other. T2 is in my top 5. It really is a perfect action movie. A couple of things worth mentioning (that someone else might have already mentioned) 1. There is a extended version of the scene where Sarah is taking the bullets out of Arnold and John asks him if he's able to learn new things. Arnold says the terminators are normally sent out with their chip set to "read-only" but it can be switched to "read/write" which leads to a scene of them opening up his head to switch the setting. 2. The M134 minigun is so named because it's designed to mounted on armored vehicles (planes, helicopters, tanks, etc.) and compared to other armored vehicles' weaponry, it is a smailer caliber. 3. The scenes where the T-1000 copies someone, and both are shown on screen, they used twins (including Linda Hamilton, who has a twin sister, Leslie)
This is the greatest movie reaction I've ever watched on this entire RUclips platform. Reliving one of my favorite movies of all time with such great commentary from two different perspectives, I absolutely loved it.
There is no downtime in this film and every action scene has a purpose, meaning, motivation, and consequence. You feel the emotions of the characters in that moment. And that is what creates a perfect action scene instead of JUST an action scene.

this movie is also everything to me, i remember the day my mates dad rented it from the video store, we all sat and watched in awe....absolutly stunning movie, and even now in 2023 it's better than 9/10 of the movies we get now.
I must have watched this over 100 times since first seeing it in the 90s. The stunts work so well and are so memorable and classic because they're all grounded in reality. Compared to movies of today where they'll literally have a tank falling through the sky while it's firing, it's utterly ludicrous. T1 & T2 are gold
Absolutely one of the best action movies. I love Hannah's reaction, I'm so glad a movie as old as this can still bring out so much emotion in a new viewer, I still get choked up at the end. Also, Ash, to answer your question about who looks better in a vest: Ripley in white, Sarah in black.
I've said it before on other reactions to this movie, but the really significant thing about Sarah's rampage is that, for even a few minutes, she *was* a terminator herself The only the thing that stopped her, though, was the fact that she had a maternal instinct, which in the final sense is one of the most human (or at least mammalian) things about us
Well theres also another thing. The whole ordeal was to avert the Judgement day from manifesting by destroying evidences left from the first film and the evidence of the second. But little does anyone acknowledge a piece of evidence was left again.....the left hand that got jammed in the giant conveyor gear.
@@SiLvErWaRe000 ....let's assume unbeknownst to Dyson, his work on the chip wasn't a personal project...that the authorities kept a backup just in case Dyson couldn't complete it for some reason.
I must say that I watched a few of the reactions on RUclips and Hanna seems to be such a genuine caring person I love that. While Ash is joking around but when it comes down to it is a very high moral person and loves truthfulness I can tell. Also you both have great taste in movies. If you could do a reaction on The Night of the Iguana I be over the moon. It is a older movie (black and white) but such a great story. Love seeing the channel grown the way it has. The BEST reaction I've seen of Terminator: Judgement Day. And I've seen them all. Hannah seeing it and being moved like I was when I first saw it, and Ash as the best ever hype man! Brilliant.
If someone was to ever ask the question, “name the perfect film” there is no other choice than this film. It is just perfect! There are also some movies that changed they way movies were made forever, and this is definitely one of them.
I was in high school when this came out and saw it in the theater. The T-1000 effects were groundbreaking and really impressed the audience. When it came out on VHS the through the bars and front to back reversal got replayed so many times. The big explosion scene (trying to get around YT) stunned the audience. A couple of people in front of us were saying "it's not like that, it can't be". A man in uniform from the nearby base was a row ahead. He looked back and said it was, and since those weapons were part of his MOS, he knew. An uncle of mine had also done some work with them and he said later that what happened to the city was as close as they could probably get, but the people, especially Sarah, not so much. And bear in mind this was when the Soviet Union still existed and everyone thought it was going strong. We didn't know that only months later it would collapse. So the threat of such attacks was quite real.
I would say it was the world's first live action CGI attempt and made it obvious by showcasing the T1000 to have enough screen time to display those special effects wizardry.
This is the first R-rated movie I ever got to see in the theater. I was 11 years old, and I had to beg my dad to take me to see it. My dad doesn't do sci-fi or fantasy, so he was bored out of his mind, but seeing it on the big screen was an awesome experience for me.
@@numpty94 For whatever reason, some people lack the ability to suspend their disbelief past a certain point, so genres that run contrary to contemporary reality don't appeal to them. As far as they're concerned fantasy is a bunch of fairy-tale nonsense for children, and science fiction is a bunch of weird gobbeltygook made up by nerds.
I was less than half your age at the time, but I didn't have to ask my dad to see it. He was the one who was hyped to see the movie and took the whole family to see it. I was asleep for most of it and didn't really watch it in full until it came out on VHS :/
I used to watch this with my brother Tommy when it first came out back in 91'/92'. I was about 12 or 13 at the time and this quickly stole our hearts as "our favorite movie"... I’ve been following this channel for a while, and this has to be my favorite of all your reactions 🙌🏻 From the reactions to the speech about today’s forgetful movies to Hannah’s declaration of “favorite action movie of all time”, I was smiling and nodding throughout all of it. Had to rewatch it three times, thought I heard "This is an avocado robot,". Great reaction as always. To bad you didn't watch the directors cut version. almost 20 minutes more of pure greatness. It explains alot of things, like why Arnold is smiling, how they could know who is the "right" Sarah at the end and stuff like that.
grew up with this movie and as i grow older i just appreciate it all the more. the writing is excellent, the stunts are excellent, the visual the music - everything! the odds of so many elements coming together so perfectly are astronomical and yet there it is. i consider myself lucky to be born in time to see it.

Robert Pattinson trained for this role so hard. Taught himself to shoot with eyes open, because he was right to think that a machine wouldn't blink or flinch during this. Actually had to run slower because he trained enough where be caught up to the bike John Connor's actor is riding at least 3 times. Love that dude.
The only other car chase scene that comes close is the one from matrix 2. Love them both! Your hype for this movie reminds me of myself after seeing it in the theaters for the first time. Great video guys!
Fun fact: The actress that played the foster mother also played Vasquez in Aliens, totally unrecognizable. The mini gun that Arnold is using is the same type that Blain used in Predator.
My aunt, not knowing what kind of film this was, took me to see it in theaters when I was nine, and to this day it’s still my favorite film. Words can’t describe how awesome it was in ‘91 and it has aged pretty well.
Terminator suddenly gets kind of sense of humour, all those smiles not because John programmed him. That’s because they switched on learning mode on his processor when they were in the garage right after they escaped Sara from clinic. Btw that iPhone 4 comparison was on point! I couldn’t “kill” my old iPhone - my son dropped it several times it was all broken from the front and the back. But it still worked. Recently I have just replaced the screen and the back and it continues to work, looking brand new again!

I'm guessing you didn't watch the extended version, but in that Sarah takes out his chip and changes it to where he can learn. That's why he all the sudden changes after a certain point. There's actually quite a few good scenes in the extended edition that really add to the story and clear some stuff up. If you haven't watched the extended edition Ash then please do when you get the chance you will love it as a fan.
Great reaction guys, really enjoyed both your views. I watched this in the cinema in 91 when I was 19 years old, the nuclear strike scene in Sarah's dream on the big screen was horrifying, especially as I was a kid during the cold war when the threat of nuclear war was real. One of the greatest action movies ever made with that great balance between live action stunt work and CGI, the CGI was next level up from the Abyss movie, another James Cameron work of magic.
As Ash said, one of the greatest films ever made regardless of genre. And crazily even the CGI still holds up 30 years later. Hannah's reactions are gold especially when she was saying "He's just a robot" at the end, but crying anyway is what everyone does. Robert Patrick is definitely one of the most terrifying terminator actors in history, simply because he suppressed not just a majority of human emotions, but also basic actions, like blinking or breathing. Superb acting!
But if the Terminators are invented to blend into human society, wouldn't an inability to breathe or blink be a bad thing? They are supposed to be infiltration units, identical to a human--it's not identical at all and easily noticeable if your friend never breathes or blinks lol.
Like Skynet would want their terminators to act like they need to breathe and blink and eat and drink and sleep, to not do so would be a failure of a terminator

If they were introduced during peace time, as a workforce, that'd be different I think. Cosmetics and little "real life" features would be somewhat important.
@@KrazzeeKane In the end it is a movie. And to get the audiences emotion, you sometimes have to bend logic a tiny bit. The 'not breathing and blinking' might not be a logical thing to do, if you want to blend in as a terminator, but it gets the audience. It's just that little bit uncanny. The Viewer doesn't notice exactly why he feels like this from watching T2 once. That's just good film making at this point.
@@KrazzeeKane Fair points, but notice Patrick's T1000 doesn't always act robotically; when necessary, it's quite personable, as with John's foster parents. It's only when the T1000 knows it has no reason to keep-up the charade that it drops all those superfluous actions, and that's when Robert goes full mechanical. It's a 1-2 of amazing acting meeting excellent attention to detail, and it makes you believe in Patrick as the T1000 on almost a subconscious level. At no point do I think, "that's a guy playing a machine"; all I think is "that machine is *terrifying*, please keep it away from me".

At the time, the trailers ruined that twist. Everyone knew he was a good guy in the theater, but it was great to see someone react to it that genuinely didn't know.

The best part about the Dyson scene is seeing how much John takes control of the situation just showing the type of leader. He become what guy you did. He takes the boy out of the room so the adults can have a conversation the mark of a leader.
That and I also like how the Terminator waits for a final confirmation from John to cut its arm to reveal itself to Dyson once his son Danny is showing his room to John to keep him distracted .
The scary thing about Sarah nearly killing Miles Dyson is that she nearly became, essentially, a Terminator - albeit a human one. She was gonna murder a person for something he hasn't done yet, because of the importance of his survival and work for future events.
And how she breaks down after has her realize it, which makes it hit harder.
You are right on the money about that. 👍 In fact mate, there is a "Making Of" 30 minute documentary that was made 'round the film's release, where James Cameron himself notes that very point. He says that at that scene in the movie, Sarah becomes a Terminator in her own right. Emotionless, Impassive and expressionless as she zeros the lazer on Miles's head as she targets him. Just as cold and calculated as the Terminator itself, before she breaks down with the realisation of it all. It is a fantastic scene that, gets better over time and views.

Fun Fact: Both Linda Hamilton and the Security guard getting coffee in the institution have twin siblings, so their twins were used in the movie when both Sarah and the guard were on screen with their duplicates. No camera tricks needed for those scenes. Sadly, Leslie Hamilton Gearren passed away in 2020 from cancer, but while not officially an actress and was a nurse in real life, she had a pretty neat screen presence in one of the greatest movies ever!
Also, you have to give a lot of credit to Robert Patrick, his performance made the T-1000 an intimidating villain despite being half of Arnold Schwarzenegger's size.

i think they are using certain movies and video games to condition people to accept giving ai robots rights someday in the future. i've seen people on video game comments already arguing that androids should be allowed to have rights and we're not even there yet. people are so easily manipulated by the media and hollywood. they can program people to think any way they want, they've been gradually programming their minds since the television was invented, and now the internet had taken it to a whole other level. they are basically turning the masses into robots, unable to think for themselves. i can't even imagine what it'll be like 100 years from now, after another century of increasingly intense brainwashing. by then the people really will be like cyborgs or something, they get people to want all these different surgeries to alter their bodies with all these disgusting artificial implants and stuff. it started with make-up, piercings, and tattoos, now it's moved on to breast, ass, and lip implants, God only knows what new disgusting things they'll have people doing to themselves in another 20+ years. people will probably voluntarily get chips put into them, and possibly even robotic enhancements like we've seen in some games. the satanic things running this world have gradually conditioned people to believe their natural bodies are not good enough and they need artificial implants and crap. they're gradually taking away their humanity and i think literally turning them into robots, just wait and see.

Ash's question at 28:59 is actually addressed in a deleted scene. John and Sarah open up the T-800's head and reprogram it to be able to learn, thus becoming more human as the film progresses.
That scene is the only one I think adds to the movie, and I wish it was still there. The change in the T-800's behavior, John protecting the chip from Sarah, the trick shot with Linda Hamilton's twin sister - all wonderful.

@@JRMAV1 Though it's KINDA cool that being frozen makes him start glitching, it doesn't pay off in any meaningful way to give him a "weakness" at that point. It's scarier that he's still seemingly invincible. Plus it is WAY less satisfying story-wise when he's exposed as being a fake Sarah by his feet visibly glitching instead of through John's emotional connection with his mother.

The channels in the USA for on demand, "Starz", usually show that footage of Sarah cutting the back of the T-800's head open to get to the back of the skull and flip the switch. It's cool stuff.

21:16 Funny facts: Ken Gibbel who played that guy with the glasses who licked Sarah Connor's face (Linda Hamilton) had a difficult time doing that scene because he felt extremely uncomfortable with the act, but Linda was perfectly fine with it. However, she and the director (James Cameron) were getting impatient and frustrated with Ken because they had to redo that scene many times because Ken would hesitate or completely chicken out which ruined the scene and forced them all to redo it until he eventually got it right.
In the scene where Sarah (Linda) hits the glasses guy (Ken) with a broken broom handle, she actually hit Ken for real in the mouth even though that broom handle was a movie prop and the blood that he spat out was fake It hurt him for real and his reaction was genuine but he stayed in character in that scene to redeem himself for the many reshoots of the previous scene with Linda.
If I ever become an actor that has to do a love/kissing scene with a pretty actress, I'm gonna make a mess of it at least a couple of times, just so we can go again

Robert Patrick is as close to an actual machine we can get when it comes to actors. Dude was the ultimate chad of his day.
- The scene where the T-1000 chases John as he gets on the bike out of the shopping mall, see the director was worried that the kid on the bike would be going too fast to make the chase look convincing. But the kid still floored it on the bike, and in the first take Robert CATCHES HIM ON THE BIKE.
- He trained to be able to sprint after cars and fight without panting or changing his face, because "a machine wouldn't show signs of tiredness".
- He trained to fire guns with both hands equally well, because "a machine wouldn't be right handed, it would use whichever hand was the most efficient at the time".
- He trained to fire entire clips of ammunition WITHOUT BLINKING, and he got upset that there's one scene in the movie where he blinks when firing a gun (where he first meets Arnold and fires at him and John in the mall). He actually tried to get them to film that scene again because he was so upset that he blinked, but because they were on a tight film schedule they couldn't shoot it again.
- Arnie was surprised by Robert actually throwing him around a bit.
I second all you said! Robert made an incredible impression with this film. And its great to see him do very well in the world today, be it shows like Reacher, The Peacemaker, or anything else he's succeeding in. I was thrilled at the time when, he landed a leading role in The X-Files which was my favourite show at the time. He was awesome in that, and carried it well in its last seasons.
What's really great about John Connor in this movie with the terminator is that it shows how John intuitively understood how the machines were missing certain characteristics that made them inferior to humans. He was teaching the terminator, but what he was really doing was showing how the terminator wasn't as smart as a street smart/crafty human being. Even the slap me five game, he outsmarted the terminator with the hit me low, pulling his hand away, "too slow!" trick. He showed him where the keys were in the visor and said, "Are we learning yet?" much like a parent would speak to a child. John is only a young child with a cracking voice, but he already shows the natural human tools that make him superior to the terminator. It foreshadows the future John Connor and how and why he would perfectly run circles around the machines in the future.
This movie is my childhood. So important to me. Practical effects. Ground breaking cgi that stands up to today's movies. Acting, emotions,one liners, action.
Fun fact: Robert Patrick got the role because he walked into the casting room, said absolutely nothing and just stared at James Cameron.
He also learned how to shoot and reload without blinking.
He also trained himself to run while not visibly breathing.
He was also too fast when he chased John on the bike. He was actually catching him. In the next take he had to slow himself down.
And yet, thanks to the way it was filmed, he still looks inhumanly fast.

In the extended cut there is a scene where Sarah and John reset the Terminator allowing him to learn. That's the reason he suddenly starts to develop a personality.
I kinda hate the part where they removed the inhibitor chip was cut from the theatrical. It explains why no Terminator before this one ever rebelled against programming or evolved. Skynet wasn't stupid. They did what humans didn't consider and leashed their creations.
@@DonnaCPunk i agree. The Director's Cut also has an unnecessary murder of John's dog by the T-1000. That wasn't needed imo. The Theatrical cut is perfect... I'm not sure why Cameron didn't think so.
I also prefer the Theatrical Cut of Aliens cuz the queen's intro is unexpected, whereas the Director's Cut includes a scene where they discuss the birthing cycle of the xenomorph and the possibility of a egg-laying queen.
T2 is one of the very few movies that you can't over hype. It's so bloody awesome.

“They just don’t make movies like this anymore” It has to do with a lot of factors but mainly, I think, it's because the plot makes sense (even if it's sci fi) and the characters act in a way in accordance with reality. During the movie the audience can predict the next step because it's what we would do in the same situation and, I can't stress this enough, everyone has flaws that need to either overcome or live with. Great reaction and the best to you both.
Ash's regression to 10-year-old boy levels of excitement and delight at this movie is everything.

I saw T1 and T2 on release and I think T1 is marginally better because it was groundbreaking in its story and special effects. Predator is equal with T2.

Seeing Hannah react without the knowledge of who was pursuer and who was protector, something the trailers for this movie stupidly gave away, was awesome.
I do have to say that there is an extended edition of this movie that has scenes that improve it even more and dive deeper into certain elements of the story and enhance it, such as Sarah learning to trust the T-800 while having it in a state of vulnerability and showing the T-1000 glitching after it melts and puts itself back together in the steel factory. What it was doing while it was melting and shapeshifting in the steel was glitching out as its nanotechnology was frying. But the shimmer it had after beating the T-800 down was a glitch, but there are a couple of small scenes that show more glitching, which are fantastic.
Linda Hamilton was absolutely outstanding in this.
Not just her physical transformation, she went through an unbelievable transformation as an actor.
One of those performances that is so good it actually ruins immersion because the other actors look woody when she is so good.
Don’t forget her twin sister Leslie, busting @§ here as well. She’s wasn’t even an actor and agreed to do this since they need a duplicate of Sarah and Linda just so happens to have one squirreled away.😂
Iconic masterpiece of a movie! I remember watching it on Sky Movies aged 7 & now almost 30 years later still looks and feels more incredible than most films today.

T2 is no joke! Absolute god tier movie, I used to watch this nearly everyday as a kid and never got bored. As an adult I just keep getting impressed every time I watch it. It's such a contrast to the first movies script amazing. The first movie is just the appetizer, T2 is the main course, shame about the rest :(
Terminator Salvation was pretty decent compared to all the other crap films that came after. It also expands the Terminator lore by introducing the earlier T-600, hunter killers and the T-700 in the toy line.

I feel a little bad, but when Termie gives his "thumbs-up" as he goes into the steel, and it just breaks the reactor down like it did poor Hannah, I always have a little chuckle. Because then I recall 13-year-old me watching that scene back in the 90s and it literally reducing me to a blubbering, sobbing heap of emotions. Great reaction as always. ❤

It's one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.
Rock star Billy Idol was almost cast as the villainous T-1000 but got into a motorcycle accident injuring his leg.
Robert Patrick was cast instead.
The character was going to be in the first Terminator, but the technology didn't exist at the time, and the character wouldn't be available till the sequel.
There are some early storyboards that bear a striking resemblance to Idol.

Should have gotten at least a best picture nomination. And I don't ever say that. There's lots of movies I LOVE ....but of the movies I LOVE only maybe two or three I would say should've gotten best picture nomination or deserved their best picture nomination. And Linda Hamilton should've been up for best actress. Which I believe they campaigned for. Should've been a given. Even if Jodie Foster still won for Silence of the Lambs...because if anything has to beat Terminator 2 and I don't end up feeling it got robbed, Silence of the Lambs is a good one. It's respectable to lose to Silence of the Lambs. T2 is much more than winning in only technical categories is what I'm saying..

You say that as if there _is_ any other Terminator movies past T2. As far as I'm aware the studio said "Well, that was a masterpiece. No way we could top that, we'll leave it at 2."
3 has kind of grown on me. The premise is great, but all the Terminator stuff is embarrassing parody. 4 has always been decent, but it's an overcorrection, and I personally don't care for Sam Worthington. I hate 5 and I love 6, aside from a couple of boneheaded maneuvers in the script. It was great to see Linda Hamilton back as Sarah Connor, and it was considerate of them to dispense with the whole Great Man Theory of History thing. John was great because he was in the position to rise to the occasion, not because he's the second coming of Christ.
@@StreetHierarchy Kinda the entire point of a time paradox thing. He was the second coming because she was like "Mary" and only because he sent his father to die could he be born. It works in that manner because she was there to make him who he had to become. The entire battle against fate when the future already happend and got involved... that's where it tweaks the brain as you must fail for the start to begin, instead you cause the paradox.
The only thing that can come close to T1 and T2 is the Sarah Connor Chronicles, that's the *real* T3!
I just recently stumbled onto your channel and I'm so glad I did. You guys are so entertaining! And Hannah is simply too precious for words! One of my favorite pieces of symbolism in T2 is how, when Sarah goes after Dyson, she does so with this laser sharp focus and relentless, murderous intent. She literally becomes his terminator. But she's not a robot, she's human, and her love of humanity was what stopped her from killing him. As a film, of any genre, T2 is an absolute masterpiece.
now I'm not 100% on this but I heard that the way Arnold reloaded the lever action shotgun in the chase scene was so iconic that many folks complained after they tried to copy it and found that you couldn't actually do it due to how the gun was made. Until the shotguns own manufacturing company remodelled it so it could now be reloaded like that and sold it as a collectors item.
You two crack me up. When Ash was gasping for breath, foretelling Dyson's future as he is dying, I swear you pointed right at me. LOL I got it.

While the chase scene is amazing, the 2 best action chase scenes are Bullit and French Connection. Absolutely love the two of you reacting. I saw this for the first time when I was about 10 and my parents had just split and it was nasty and messy and heartbreaking and to see John losing his father figure at the end hurt SO BAD!! Sarah Conner, not long after giving birth, she began to train physically and mentally non stop for ten years to be ready for Judgement day and the possibility of another Terminator attack. Everything from hand to hand combat, weapons, driving any vehicle including aircraft. She also studied psychological warfare, how to deal with interrogations and so on. She was as ready as she could be.
What's fascinating is that Sarah has had the nightmare of Judgement Day for so long, it had driven her to the point of madness and nearly made her become a terminator psychologically when she was going to kill Dyson. If she had gone through with it, she would have become the very thing she hated.
I love how the Terminator theme plays while she marches up to Miles.

This film is a god damned masterpiece - not a single wasted actor, not a single wasted scene, not a single wasted _dollar_ (and it was the most expensive movie ever made, at that time).
There is a newer cut that adds a bunch of unnecessary crap.

The Villian in this film (Robert Patrick) 2 years later was in one of the most brilliant and grossley overlooked films ever. " Fire in The Sky" ( Based on true accounts of Travis Walton) and since built a cult following. If they are open to a brilliant film, that every other reactor has not already reacted to they should check this!! But alas reaction channels are a popularity contest and only films that are known to the masses get the time of day.

The Terminator was not programmed to have a sense of humor. It's CPU is capable of learning new things (it utilizes neural networks, which is a real thing computer science) and John as a kid, was teaching him to be more human. Not just the surface level behaviour patterns, but also deeper details like a sense of humor and the value of human life.

T2 is in my top 5. It really is a perfect action movie. A couple of things worth mentioning (that someone else might have already mentioned)
1. There is a extended version of the scene where Sarah is taking the bullets out of Arnold and John asks him if he's able to learn new things. Arnold says the terminators are normally sent out with their chip set to "read-only" but it can be switched to "read/write" which leads to a scene of them opening up his head to switch the setting.
2. The M134 minigun is so named because it's designed to mounted on armored vehicles (planes, helicopters, tanks, etc.) and compared to other armored vehicles' weaponry, it is a smailer caliber.
3. The scenes where the T-1000 copies someone, and both are shown on screen, they used twins (including Linda Hamilton, who has a twin sister, Leslie)
This is the greatest movie reaction I've ever watched on this entire RUclips platform. Reliving one of my favorite movies of all time with such great commentary from two different perspectives, I absolutely loved it.
There is no downtime in this film and every action scene has a purpose, meaning, motivation, and consequence. You feel the emotions of the characters in that moment. And that is what creates a perfect action scene instead of JUST an action scene.

this movie is also everything to me, i remember the day my mates dad rented it from the video store, we all sat and watched in awe....absolutly stunning movie, and even now in 2023 it's better than 9/10 of the movies we get now.

I must have watched this over 100 times since first seeing it in the 90s. The stunts work so well and are so memorable and classic because they're all grounded in reality. Compared to movies of today where they'll literally have a tank falling through the sky while it's firing, it's utterly ludicrous. T1 & T2 are gold
Absolutely one of the best action movies. I love Hannah's reaction, I'm so glad a movie as old as this can still bring out so much emotion in a new viewer, I still get choked up at the end.
Also, Ash, to answer your question about who looks better in a vest: Ripley in white, Sarah in black.
I've said it before on other reactions to this movie, but the really significant thing about Sarah's rampage is that, for even a few minutes, she *was* a terminator herself
The only the thing that stopped her, though, was the fact that she had a maternal instinct, which in the final sense is one of the most human (or at least mammalian) things about us
Well theres also another thing. The whole ordeal was to avert the Judgement day from manifesting by destroying evidences left from the first film and the evidence of the second. But little does anyone acknowledge a piece of evidence was left again.....the left hand that got jammed in the giant conveyor gear.
I've been saying that for years! Arnold isn't the other terminator in this movie, Sarah is!

I must say that I watched a few of the reactions on RUclips and Hanna seems to be such a genuine caring person I love that. While Ash is joking around but when it comes down to it is a very high moral person and loves truthfulness I can tell. Also you both have great taste in movies. If you could do a reaction on The Night of the Iguana I be over the moon. It is a older movie (black and white) but such a great story. Love seeing the channel grown the way it has. The BEST reaction I've seen of Terminator: Judgement Day. And I've seen them all. Hannah seeing it and being moved like I was when I first saw it, and Ash as the best ever hype man! Brilliant.
If someone was to ever ask the question, “name the perfect film” there is no other choice than this film. It is just perfect! There are also some movies that changed they way movies were made forever, and this is definitely one of them.
I was in high school when this came out and saw it in the theater. The T-1000 effects were groundbreaking and really impressed the audience. When it came out on VHS the through the bars and front to back reversal got replayed so many times.
The big explosion scene (trying to get around YT) stunned the audience. A couple of people in front of us were saying "it's not like that, it can't be". A man in uniform from the nearby base was a row ahead. He looked back and said it was, and since those weapons were part of his MOS, he knew. An uncle of mine had also done some work with them and he said later that what happened to the city was as close as they could probably get, but the people, especially Sarah, not so much.
And bear in mind this was when the Soviet Union still existed and everyone thought it was going strong. We didn't know that only months later it would collapse. So the threat of such attacks was quite real.
I would say it was the world's first live action CGI attempt and made it obvious by showcasing the T1000 to have enough screen time to display those special effects wizardry.
This is the first R-rated movie I ever got to see in the theater. I was 11 years old, and I had to beg my dad to take me to see it. My dad doesn't do sci-fi or fantasy, so he was bored out of his mind, but seeing it on the big screen was an awesome experience for me.
This was my first R too! The knife through the throat freaked me out BAD. Wasn't ready for that.

As far as they're concerned fantasy is a bunch of fairy-tale nonsense for children, and science fiction is a bunch of weird gobbeltygook made up by nerds.
I was less than half your age at the time, but I didn't have to ask my dad to see it. He was the one who was hyped to see the movie and took the whole family to see it. I was asleep for most of it and didn't really watch it in full until it came out on VHS :/
I used to watch this with my brother Tommy when it first came out back in 91'/92'. I was about 12 or 13 at the time and this quickly stole our hearts as "our favorite movie"... Had to rewatch it three times, thought I heard "This is an avocado robot,". Great reaction as always. To bad you didn't watch the directors cut version. almost 20 minutes more of pure greatness. It explains alot of things, like why Arnold is smiling, how they could know who is the "right" Sarah at the end and stuff like that.

The actress that played John Connor’s foster mother in this movie also played Vasquez, the really badass, female marine in Aliens.
grew up with this movie and as i grow older i just appreciate it all the more. the writing is excellent, the stunts are excellent, the visual the music - everything! the odds of so many elements coming together so perfectly are astronomical and yet there it is. i consider myself lucky to be born in time to see it.
It’s crazy that ash mentions the lack of emotion when fighting and running when he does. 14:21 apparently Robert Patrick actually ran so fast a few times they asked him to slow down for the camera. But that look he has as he sprints after John is crazy
She seemed to enjoy this a lot more than the first one. She got emotionally invested in this one.
Robert Pattinson trained for this role so hard. Taught himself to shoot with eyes open, because he was right to think that a machine wouldn't blink or flinch during this.
Actually had to run slower because he trained enough where be caught up to the bike John Connor's actor is riding at least 3 times.

My aunt, not knowing what kind of film this was, took me to see it in theaters when I was nine, and to this day it’s still my favorite film. Words can’t describe how awesome it was in ‘91 and it has aged pretty well.

Terminator suddenly gets kind of sense of humour, all those smiles not because John programmed him. That’s because they switched on learning mode on his processor when they were in the garage right after they escaped Sara from clinic.
Btw that iPhone 4 comparison was on point! I couldn’t “kill” my old iPhone - my son dropped it several times it was all broken from the front and the back. But it still worked. Recently I have just replaced the screen and the back and it continues to work, looking brand new again!

I'm guessing you didn't watch the extended version, but in that Sarah takes out his chip and changes it to where he can learn. That's why he all the sudden changes after a certain point. There's actually quite a few good scenes in the extended edition that really add to the story and clear some stuff up. If you haven't watched the extended edition Ash then please do when you get the chance you will love it as a fan.

That extended clip was taken it for a reason. The scene dragged for too long and it was very silly (even for a sci-fi action film)
This movie is such a classic -one of my all-time faves. Also, Hanna is such a gem! Its so much fun to re-watch these movies through her eyes.
Great reaction guys, really enjoyed both your views. I watched this in the cinema in 91 when I was 19 years old, the nuclear strike scene in Sarah's dream on the big screen was horrifying, especially as I was a kid during the cold war when the threat of nuclear war was real.
One of the greatest action movies ever made with that great balance between live action stunt work and CGI, the CGI was next level up from the Abyss movie, another James Cameron work of magic.
As Ash said, one of the greatest films ever made regardless of genre. And crazily even the CGI still holds up 30 years later.
Hannah's reactions are gold especially when she was saying "He's just a robot" at the end, but crying anyway is what everyone does.
