      3. As many different interpretations as there may be, the most widespread _effect_ The Matrix has on people is to demonstrate the extent to which every atom of what you see every day can be questioned and is subject to whatever questioning you decide upon. The window cleaner did have meaning. If you notice, when Neo was being flushed out of his pod upon waking up from the Matrix, they made a point to show his hand run the glass and made the same noise. The idea is that as the boss was talking to Neo about not following the rules and not being special, Neo was shifting uncomfortably in his pod, and was rubbing the glass. He knew subconsciously that everything the boss was saying was wrong.

    I think the reason this film was so pivotal is because it explained the complexity of the individual and human perception in a way people could understand.
    It's absolutely true that everything we experience, everything we can touch, everything we see, hear, taste, is all just electrical signals that our brains process into what we perceive as reality.
    You could just be a brain in a jar somewhere, as long as there are electrical signals telling that brain that you're sitting on a couch watching a film, that's what you believe to be "real".
    The Matrix just presented this theoretical idea in a great and engaging way.

    One of my favorite fun facts: the directors and writers of this movie (the Wachowskis) wrote V for Vendetta. And the actor who plays Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) played V🖤🤍❤ Both movies that remain classics that mean so much in so many areas of filmmaking.

      I'm not sure I agree V for Vendetta has a huge legacy the way the Matrix does. I think it's more niche, in spite of its hardcore fans. Also, once the original writer (Alan Moore) pointed out how they messed up the political message, I found VfV less interesting.

    Hey Hannah and ASh, when Neo falls in his first jump, many pepople see it as a failure on his part. However, the more important lesson he learned is that if you get hurt in the Matrix you can get hurt in the real world. So if you die in the Matrix your mind translates that as death for real. It also lets the audience know the stakes at odds. It's not just a regular video game.

    • @robmarsh918

Inside are people who were born and have spent their entire lives there, chained into a fixed position, only able to see the wall in front of them. Everyday someone would come in and use the light to cast shadow animals on the wall and as far as they know, this is the entire world.

    Hey Hannah and ASh, cool tid bit. When Agent Smith appears in the room ahead of time to shoot NEO. It's the same room from the start of the movie when they tried to catch Trinity. So Agent Smith deduced that he would head there as it's the closest phone land line to make a Matrix portal exit. Pretty cool tie-in from the writers/directors.

    If you decide to continue on with the franchise, I would encourage you, "DON'T", skip The Animatrix, regardless of whether or not you do reaction, It's, a collection of shorts, that provide a bunch of backstory and set up the events going into the sequel. Also, it's rather unique, since each short was animated and directed by different animation studios, displaying numerous animation styles and techniques, as well as a wide variety of storytelling, perspectives and narratives, it's literally a buffet of animation.

    • @kevtb874
      @kevtb874 Год назад +1

      Agreed. The Animatrix is a much better extension of the series than the actual sequels. It really filled out the world, the history, explored other ideas and concepts. And because they are shorts they get to the point.
      The sequels were a mess. They have their moments but are not a scratch on the original.

    • @po5283
      @po5283 Год назад +1

    Yep you hit the nail on the head. The oracle, while technically not saying Neo wasn't the one, made Neo feel less important so that Neo would more easily sacrifice himself for Morpheus. If Neo knew he was the one, he would have doubts on putting himself in danger because of his importance.
