I’ve worked on a tore down both. Older Samsungs and LG were very similar in build quality but the newer Samsungs definitely seem to become more cheap and cut corners underneath the skin. I was pretty surprised opening up a 2021 Samsung vs the 2017 I had just tore down.
LG still has good quality! Random note, not that it matters, probably because nobody mentions I like the tilted tub on LG washers. I think it’s neat, plus possibly making it a little safer not to flood your house if something were to happen with the door? Who knows!
Great video thanks for making this ! I’m always excited to tune into this channels new content

I bought a new Samsung top loader 3 years ago and the matching gas dryer now 2 years ago this Fall. We've had zero issues with both but after reading about maintenance and then the manual, I am convinced most people unknowingly abuse the units contributing to the early failures. For example, they see a massive drum and chronically overfill with heavy laundry or they run 3-4 loads in a row (while overloaded each time) or they don't calibrate the drum once a month or they use too much detergent or they don't clean the lint screen. All of that said, there is no way Samsung or LG is making great units at $599-$699 price points. Yes, they work but you can generally feel they are cheaply made. You have to baby them if you want them to last. My units replaced still working (but basic and smaller) Hotpoint units that were 15 years old and never once needed service in that time. Fun fact - after I bought the first Samsung, I saw Ben's video trashing Samsung. LOL

I love Ben and his channel. But he doesnt see percentages. Sure his shop sees a lot of Samsung because it is the most popular brand with millions sold yearly.

Samsung is crap for sure, but LG quality is consistent throughout all their price points. No issues, no babying

Looking between the LG WM6700 and the Samsung WF53BB8900AT Bespoke model.
Both are about the same price but if i get discount on the bespoke model for about $950 and the dryer companion for $750. Are these savings significant enough to grab the bespoke or would you still recommend the LG WM6700 and its dryer over the bespoke even with these savings?

Both are good. We sell both. LG is the better unit....

When you talk about units needing servicing what time period are you using? ie are these services within the warranty period? Bought my Samsung (second bottom model at the time, I think) about 13 years ago. Still going strong. Had to go to the shop once for repair. Turns out something or other was clogged with dog hair (I have samoyeds), other than that, no problems. I wonder what are your reflections regarding the sturdiness, build quality and reliability of models from that time compared to the models today? Also, a lot of people get rid of perfectly good washers after a few years so there would be no way to track the long term longevity of these appliances.

@@YaleAppliance1 No, I mean repair data can be manipulated by manufacturers. Which is why repair companies are important for gaining insight into defective or cheap parts and models.
