- Madden NFL 2003 was one of the solid games in madden history that involved things that we don't see in today's Madden games such as Helmets popping off, Cheerleader dancing at halftime, and amazing interception cameras to make you feel like you achieved greatness.

I loved madden 2003-2006 I think it just represents my childhood, I remember staying up all night on weekends just playing my madden franchises in between watching Disney, nick at night or Cartoon Network ahhh good times

I strongly agree. I got madden 13 years back and there was not many game modes I could play! In another words, most of it was online based stuff! Older madden games have mini-camps, rushing attack and more fun modes!
The sound of the line of scrimmage and the tackles really creates a feel of realism in this era of Madden, which sadly got left out of more recent versions.
Man thats a good point...maddens hits don’t sound as violent and I feel like because of the new concussion protocols they have made the game feel more “safe”. No more helmets coming off either.
@@df6148 yeah, and even though there are cases like Damar Hamlin 🥴 So, they should return to this era, with helmets coming off, hard hits and everything they took off. It's a video game, not real people!

Good times was in grade 7 when this came out & got this first week it came out for PS2! Still one of the best NFL games

It’s crazy to see how smooth the animations were back then. I think even though the running controls were simplified, I preferred the run game back then. However, the passing has come a long way I think, but the defensive AI used to be sharper and respond to breaking up plays more quickly.
I wish they kept the control scheme from this game. And yeah the players felt a lot more responsive. Like they went where you wanted them to go. Now madden feels like its a little off on player step speed.

This was the first madden where I took franchise mode seriously. Couldn’t wait to start the next year as soon as the season was over.
2003 was the most revolutionary Madden made, and introduced online head to head matches. ‘04 was very good as well, except Vick was too unstoppable. The term “cheese” online I believe came from Madden ‘03-‘04 games.
PS2 is the best era. Tekken Tag 1, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, Def Jam Fight For NY, Max Payne 1 & 2, Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, San Andreas, God Of War, NFL Street 2, NBA Street 1 & 2, Smackdown Here Comes The Pain, Smackdown Shut Your Mouth, Smackdown vs Raw, Madden games, NBA Live games, & more. Yes the PS2, GameCube, OG XBOX, Dreamcast era was definitely the best in gaming. Hands down. Sure we have better graphics and power, but in terms of fun, charm, replay value, & most of all ACTUAL COMPLETED GAMES....NO DLC....yes PS2 era is the best in gaming.

I don't even see helmets come off anymore even today's NFL games never seen any players that get hit and their helmet won't come off because the NFL won't let the defense hit anymore!

Back when madden was good before EAss started getting lazy.
Presentation took a nose dive after this one. Can't believe they gutted all the cool cutscenes. Guess that was about the time that it started to come more about online play after xbox live instead immersive sim sports. Remember this game was completely ruined by the auto pass feature that I never figured out how to turn off. I would snap the ball look the make a pass down field and the qb would just throw the ball to a random receiver because I didn't press any button after the snap. I'd be like what the hell I didn't even press anything. Took me so long to figure out that was why it was happening thought a button was stuck. Thats the kind of gameplay decision that ruins careers. Hope the person that decided on the feature never worked in the industry again. Ruined a game that otherwise would have been great.

Dallas was not rated very highly at the start of this game and the eventually ended with a 5-11 record in real life, but in this game they can have potentially a worse record if they get into a franchise mode and Dave Campo usually resigns. They do have a good crop of young talent like Roy Williams, Antonio Bryant, and Andre Gurode but they have really have a long way to go.
Yeah when football was physical when the helmets flew off during a big hit in the real game and the video game, now helmets stays on through out the game only way they come off now just a loose strap or tackling that's about it
