- Fox mountain bike suspension has always been known as the cream of the crop. Their history both on and off the race track is legendary and they continue to be one of the most popular brands in the sport. The introduction of the Fox Shox Transfer Dropper Post changed the game due to its reliability, good looks, and overall build quality. Available in two variants (Factory and Performance), the Fox Transfer Dropper Post remains a top choice by our staff and customers alike. Chances are, if you have a dropper seatpost, you're going to want to learn how to install it yourself. Rather than take your bike to a mechanic, we put together a start to finish video guide on installing a Fox Transfer Dropper on a Yeti SB130. Although it will be slightly different based on your bike, the same steps will need to be followed. Follow along and learn!

What tech tips do you want to see next? Let us know!
How do you remove rear brake hose routed internally without spilling hydraulic oil inside the frame.
Brake bleeding please for shimano and sram, thank you.
@worldwide cyclery will a fox factory dropper post fit a 2019 specialized comp carbon 29er..?
Do disc brake bleeding and or rear derailleur install / adjustments. Also fitting a NEW out of the box chain for a new setup with no reference IE a chain that had already been on the bike would be another good video RUclips is scarce for a good one of those.
how to remove the rockshock lock ftom the bars
Didn't really think I'd learn anything since I've now installed two if these but the way Liam measures out the cable to find the spot to trim it was very informative.
Man, this was awesome guys! I hope it's the start of a new maintenance series and I would love to see Liam's procedure for bleeding Shimano brakes.
Liam caught me off guard. I wasn't ready for anything other than 'What's up guys, Im Jeff'
Great vid though Liam Im sure this'll be extremely useful for some people.
I just installed one of these. Pretty easy job for me especially since I replaced a failed post and the housing was already cut very close to length. I have one important nit pick. They are installing a metal seat post into a carbon frame. It's VERY important to use an anti-seize compound on the post. Galvanic corrosion can become a problem very rapidly in this scenario.
Excellent, I did my installation in a few minutes thanks to your instructions. I didn't have to drop my bike at the mechanic! Easy peasy.
Isn't that the best feeling?
Thanks man. It took me nearly two hours to figure this out. Then i found you video, so thorough and straight forward. 👍🏼
great tips! Just in time, bought my fox transfer from WWC this week.
Thank you! Just what I need to install my Fox Transfer this week!
Liam you are the man! Look at that clean cockpit!
Thank you! Of the RUclips choices available, this video made the most sense and was super-easy to follow.
EXCELLENT QUALITY INSTRUCTION AND DEMONSTRATION. THANKS!
Have to say thanks , just instaled my fox droper post ,folowing your tips ,----spot on :)
great video, i will keep watching your videos and tech tips, i think eventually i'll be able to do something by myself
Best one I have seen to date. Great tutorial!
Thx for the video - received my Transfer today and installed it easily thx to this clip. The only difference with the 2020 model appears to be a change to the lever design, but it's essentially the same just without the tuck-in recess for the cable end.
Good video, like the neat cable set up 👍🏻
Great video! Really Helpfull
This helped a ton! Thanks!
This was a better tutorial than the one from FOX themselves. Cheers.
Thank you! Works awesome
I just purchased mine from a Trek bike shop. Can't wait to install it..
That was a deadly tech video, super helpful!! Thanks guys!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for the video!
I’d like to see lower leg service on all forks. Rockshox, Fox, Dvo, mrp. Then a detail compare of the internals
Check out Vorsprung.
nice work
A close-up on how the cable clamp fits into the claw how be a very helpful insert edit.
Excellent job! Very well done from my sexy mechanic! Keep em coming!
Great job Liam .i don't think there was any editing unlike the Boss man goof ups 😄
Thank you, great video instructions. Would like more info on the apron/work vest.
quality video. cheers. good to see even pro mehcanics drop their allen keys at the critical times ;) daaaammmit!
Very slick, I want a dropper just so I can fit it.
Liam needs his own RUclips channel!
Taking notes professor
Great video! Do you service the transfer droppers?
you should mention to check the turning of the bars with the cable length
I just bought a 175mm Fox Transfer 31.6 Performance series from you guys and installed it. I was wondering if I got a defective post or if there is a break in period as the remote (Wolftooth) requires an insane amount of thumb pressure in order to actuate the post and then to get the saddle to drop all the way down requires a lot of saddle pressure, especially for the last inch or so (it seems to get harder as the seat goes lower). I have a Fox Transfer 125mm on my other bike with the same WT remote and its WAY easier to actuate and lower the seat. Any ideas or suggestions?
I'm confused, instead of all this measuring can't you theoretically just insert the dropper with the cable and cable housing already ran through the bike and connected to the dropper, set it at the proper height for the way you ride , then pull the slack out at the top then just pull the cable tight and secure it at the lever?
Yeah if you want an extremely long cable housing come out of your bike. Notice he measured so the housing would match the length of the existing brake cable for a clean look.
Now they need to make the transfer in a wireless option like the new reverb.
At $500
I bought a second hand 2019 Bronson with a Fox transfer dropper post 150 mm. The set up is slightly high for me but when I tried adjusting it down, the dropper post stop working. I maybe kinking/ hitting the cable underneath?
On the newer fox transfer lever is there any cable exposed from the front. When pushing in the the lever
How important is the cable bushing? I just bought a used transfer post that is missing the bushing and can’t find any place that has it in stock. Tried using a bushing from a KS dropper, but it’s too thick and keeps the post actuated even though the remote isn’t pressed. Now I’m using straight cable w/o bushing and it’s working fine. Guess I’ll keep it like that until I can find a bushing or if the cable snaps or something.
Thats a sweeet bike
Grip paste for carbon frame!
Good review but would've been a lot better had you zoomed in with better camera angles to see exactly how you connect everything.
What stand are you using in this video to hold the bike to work on it?
Liam were did you find your ferrules?
Should the dropper have some air? Since my Fox dropper has a little bit so I don't know if this is normal or should I service it?
Filming Fox Transfer install in POV is almost the same as shooting porn!
How do you add air or pressure to this so it goes up faster and doesn't get stuck?
"Heighth" is not a word. My biggest pet peeve.
If I just want to change my transfer from a 150 to 200... can I skip all the other steps and just go to the end?
Hi! Just got my fox transfer post installed, but it wont rise smoothly. It rises about 10cm and then I have to lift the rest by hand. What do you think might be wrong? It doesnt matter if the seatpost is clamped or not, still doesnt go up as it should!
Shoot over an email and we can try to help you out! info@worldwidecyclery.com
What happened with this? I have the same problem, but weirdly if I remove the post completely and operate by hand I cannot replicate the issue.
Please let me know if you find a fix for this
Yes I got the same thing trying to figure it out I thought you had air but it might be nitrogen
Usually it’s because your seat collar is too tight. Too tight and it binds up the moving shaft in the outer. Try and loosen the collar and see if the post will operate.
Am I able to install the post and use then buy the lever and cable later?....after I convert to a 1x?
No- the seat post won’t operate up and down without the cable and housing
Do you guys recommend any carbon paste in the seat tube?
Only if the post is having an issue holding with the proper torque spec for your frame. If it sits fine at the recommended torque spec and doesn't move then it's not really needed.
Absolutely, especially with the transfer. At recommended frame torques, the transfer has been known to bind up and not reach full extension on some bikes. Carbon paste can make this a non-issue
Would it be easier to just hook up the dropper and put it in, then cut the cable for the switch? You wouldn't need to measure at all.
Still didn't understand why he installed the remote before the dropper itself
It could be done at a slightly later step, but doesn't hurt to do it early and get then cable sizing is easier :)
i know this is old, but no carbon paste?
No assembly paste?
Darn could of used this
Waiting for a cutlery review
Oh, it's coming don't you worry...
Off hand will a 150mm post fit on my large tranny smuggler? I’m 5’11 for the win
It should no problem!
It’s a 125 drop now. I want it lower for some chunky stuff
I have a 150mm Reverb in my medium smug
Only question is, how do I justify spending $300 for a seat post?
Very informative. But, when referring to the cable housing, do not refer to it as cable. These are two vastly different things.
Surely not am I first
Yes u are
Where's the motor on that YETI? Oh, yeah, they don't do an ebike, they live in the past.
You performed the trickiest part off camera. How does that help DIY?
every frame is different my guy just look up a video of someone routing cables on your bike..
4:26 seems like he could have skipped all this measuring and just installed the cable and the remote and then seen what seemed like a good length instead of doing all the math and maybe messing up
Why folks not show cable installation. That is important part of the installation
#bringbacktheseindfieldintro
mohoric😂
Sat thru 9min of crap to see the cable get attached to the post and you skipped right over it....
Head camera angle is awful. Couldn’t watch.
heighth.
is not a word
Fox transfer lever sucks. Where the heck do you run then affix cable. So unintuitive
Sat thru 9min of crap to see the only part i needed and u skipped right over connecting the cable to the post. Needed to see that... Telling me you were going to do it didn't help
