I've been in the Efteling a lot, Nowadays I simply enjoy walking around in this beautiful park and forest, enjoying the scenery, the "poffertjes" and taking the occasional ride. Walking in the Efteling Park takes you away from the real world.
If you ever return to the Efteling, go in the winter. They have special theming and it is even more beautiful than it is in the summer (I am kinda addicted to Efteling and come ther almost every week, so yeah xD (if you are ever comming to the efteling again and looking for someone that can tell you extra information about the rides, count me in!)
De Efteling! I practically grew up there. It's a 10 minute bicycle ride away from my home. Me and my friends all had an annual pass and every wednesday afternoon we went. Going in The Python as often as we could. Sweet memories! And now, 40 years later, I'm enjoying the Efteling with my wife and children. It's beautiful !
Great Vlog. Love your enthusiasm! Us Dutchies seem to have found your channel :) And yes: this is my local park as well :). It makes me proud everytime to see someone else enjoy it for the first time :) The theming is incredible. And like someone else suggested: also try to visit during the winter. After visiting the Efteling for maybe 10 times, it's not the rides that keep me coming back, it's the theming. The waiting area for the Vliegende Hollander (Flying Dutchman) just gives me this warm feeling. The Baron looks amazing from outside and in, and the story is really cool also. Really curious to see what the replacement for the Bob will turn out to be!
I will miss the Bob, but it had become unreliable, it needed more spare parts but Intamin just wasn't making these coasters, these trains and thus these spare parts anymore. In 2018, it was out of operation for almost half a year! So the decision was made to scrap this one and build a new coaster.
That is just theme park PR for: we would like to spend our money elsewhere. Six flags runs their version of the Bob just fine. That's the one with the old Efteling bobs! You need to remember that the Efteling need new rides to attract new and more guests. It most likely wasn't worth the investment in their eyes. And with the lack of a different space to build a rides like Max en Moritz the decision to kill the Bob was easily made.. Telling the public that you have done everything to save the ride earns you respect. Telling the public that you don't want to spend money on something that doesn't attract new guests results in the opposite. Good PR is telling the people what they want to hear.

Yeah, I love that theme park, with a passion! I was hired to film a few official making-of documentaries of some rides. Like "Baron 1898" (the dive coaster) and "The Making Of Symbolica". From the first brick taken out of the main square, to the first visitors... seeing that progress in a bit over a year was a wonderful experience. The Efteling really emphasis the story around the ride. I watched those episodes back a few times. And every single time it amazes me. I noticed that you did the "music tour" in Symbolica. There are actually three themes. The carts split paths to take a different route. They all meet up in the ballroom scene to dance. The carts are all independent EVs. Very amazing. And not seeing the water show? It's very cool. It's like 4th of July... but with powerful water jets. The park was a favorite of mine when I was a child. And it still is. especially since it is in a nice wooded area of The Netherlands. And The Efteling tends to preserve nature and keep the woods the forest as much as they can. Man, I should go back there... it has been too many months... Thanks for sharing this video!
Awesome Baron video! I did see the water show on the second day so check that video out! And I had to finally say it since so many people continuously watch and comment on my Elfteling video....The amount of pride you all have in the park is so nice to see! It is a fantastic park and in my opinion definitely better than Disneyland Paris...no question
@@TheCoasterSpot The only plus Disney has is that the park in total is designed from the ground up. While de Efteling is more organic. So themes in De Efteling are more connected to rides where Disney has entire area's in the same theme. And I miss a something like Disney Village/Downtown/Springs for the Efteling

Let me tell you this: I think Efteling is the most romantic themepark I've seen. For the record: Bobbejaanland is (in Dutch) pronounced Bob-e-yawn-land haha. Dutch is a very weird language haha. But... I'm glad you like Efteling as much as I do. Great review!

You talked about how rude you were treated at Bobbejaanland, I think this would never happen at Efteling. For example two years ago thousands of visitors were stuck at the Efteling after Newyears celebration because the busses did not ride anymore to any nearby station. So the staff drove people by themselfs to help them out. Now thats what I call customer service

Maybe it's nice to add some background information: - The Bob originally also was 2x2 seating, but then behind each other. I must admit I abused that with my then-girlfriend by 'accidentally' misplacing my hands ;) - The Python had an error for all the time before it was rebuilt: in the corner after the loopings, just before the corkscrews, a 'bump' could be felt because the track there didn't perfectly align. After riding it 5 times in a row once (yep, it can be even quieter sometimes), my shoulders really hurt - The Vliegende Hollander is of course the Flying Dutchman - The Carnival Festival was planned to be the new design/feeling of the Efteling, but (thank god!) never made it that far. The first months after opening, they gave away free red noses - The Python is the only non-themed ride in the Efteling - The 'Joris en de draak' (George and the dragon) replaced an earlier wooden roller coaster that was pretty uncomfortable, called Pegasus. That one only lasted 18 years. The dragon (if I'm not mistaken she's called Edna) has broken down a while ago. She used to move. Don't know if they'll ever fix it.
For now they said they'll never fix it, too expensive. Sadly, was some great theming they did on that one, but paint is coming off now as well, they really need to fix it ..
My Fav is always and always wil be ..the garbage trashfigures.."papier hier papier hier" I just love the idea of it..kids rip your garbage literly out of your hands, and put them into those figures. and the smile you get from those kids is just beautiful.
I’m from Belgium and I hate bobbejaanland to it’s ugly but Efteling omggg I have never been in a better park I come there twice a year since I was 1 years old, it’s beautiful, alazing for young and old and no doubt bit in two years I’m gonna be able to stay in the netherlands alone and I’m gonna do my vacation job in Efteling no doubt
There's a legend going round that the island on the left at 31:15 is where they put all the bodies of dead animals they find in the park while cleaning. Apparently they often find dead rabbits, rats and birds around the park (that died of natural causes or predation) and because they don't want to scare/gross out the guests they clean them up. But getting rid of remains is too expensive, so they dump the bodies on that island... No idea if it's true, but a friend who works at the park told me, so there might be some truth to it. :P

Nice vlog. Shame about the sound quality, especially when recording ride music. Also, you were very lucky to find the Efteling so quiet. It can be _very_ crowded. The upside of that is that operations have been streamlined a lot, which makes for very short lines on calm days. I love how amazed you are. I remember being equally impressed with Baron 1898 when it first opened.

The Efetling is my favorite park to go to. We try to go every year!! We went wen i was little, it is al lot of childhood memory's. And now i can get on all of the rollercoasters to :-). everything is beautiful in this park from decor to the music, it all fits together. The Bob is not there anymore, but they build a new ride that is called Max & Moritz, were going to see it in august
Imagine living so close to the park you actually go there each week, you can dream the attractions and music and you dont need a map bc you know every route

Its one of the ways we show our national pride. We are generally against showing it, like we wouldnt just hang flags (those are exclusively for national holidays and life occasions like diplomas), or wear national flag merch (unless its Kingsday or voetbal related) but we are still proud of our country anf we know we are tiny and not very significant on a worldscale so when we are mentioned we are very proud.

Our entire family visits Efteling once a year, been a tradition since my mum (60) was a little girl, love it to bits, 22nd of august this year!

Never were hanging seats. In Bobbejaanland in Belgium you can find hanging seats.
