Despite being from Belgium, Efteling is easily my favorite park around here :D Loved seeing you having a good time there :D Also for the story in Villa Volta: it's about a gang of thieves in the middle ages known as "De Bokkenrijders" (the Goat Riders). Their leader, Hugo van den Loonsche Duynen, is telling guests how one night they came across an abbey's chapel and robbed it, but a spectral woman warned him to leave, otherwise he'd invoke the wrath of God over him. He didn't listen, his men evaporated, and he got cursed. The woman reappeared on top of his house, stating that nowhere inside, nor anywhere in the world, he'll find peace and solace until a person with a clear conscience like that of a newborn child enters his stead. And given that the ride continues to exist, means that none of us are innocent :D This is personally my favorite ride, but like you said, there is so much to experience and see. Definitely one of the greatest parks in the world, if you ask me.

Hey, Kaatsheuvel person here, as of me Efteling was my playground as a kid. Ive been to the park so so so many times that on average i go there twice each week, the park itself is just magical. It somehow isolates from the real world and makes you forget about the problems in life. The architecture in the park is just perfect, fun fact: the architecture is based on my city as Efteling is in my city. So yeah really happy to see you enjoy Efteling a lot and thx for giving the park such a positive review :)

The darkrides in the Efteling don’t have a real storyline. They are made to experiencing it when you go in it. So you can make your own story from what happened around you. It is based of stories ofcourse. I always see it when you go on a holiday and you drive to an old town. You see many old buildings, these buildings got a story but you will never know what the story is. But somehow you feel attracticted to it cause it has that history that they show. So for symbolica you experience the halls of the castle. Droomvlucht you see the world of the fairies, trolls and elves. And fata morgana its the story of 1001 nights that you see. So when you are out of these rides it is meant to make you wonder what just happened to experience it again and again.
True, but some rides do have real stories though I believe? Like Villa Volta is about a robber who steals from a holy place, was warned not to by the woman on top of the house, laughed, then went home and well, there she was standing on top of it. She cursed him and so his house was doomed to spin forever until someone with a pure heart enters the house (so basically, it's also a bit of a burn lol). Fun fact: I believe the design was actually the first of it's kind! (Could be wrong though) Spookslot also has an overarching story, but it's less clear and you have yo look it up in order to really get it, unfortunately :( but then you go off of vibes, which is cool too So you can basically enjoy them either way ^^ with or without the story like you said :)
@@aardbeidelijkheid yea some rides have stories. Baron about a greedy boss, villa volta about stealing from a holy place, joris and the dragon about fighting the dragon and de vliegende hollander. There are many myth based stories. And i hope that the efteling will keep that in their attractions. But the dark rides like symbolica is mostly based on experience and thinking afterwards. And i know the story starts with the mascot putting us on a different route to show the castle while we were just invided for an audience. But that is such a thin story, that it can’t even been recognised as a story. Haha. And yea spookslot got a very loose story as well. It was later made for the attraction. Before it did not have a story at all. But spookslot is closed down now for a new thrill ride that opens in 2024 called Dance Macabre. There will be added a story and i am very looking forward to that.

In vogel rok, you dont get eaten by a bird, but a massive snake Fata morgana doesnt have a plotline really, but the travel trough the city, dungeons and palace are all a fata morgana itself, its a mirage of sorts Symbolica is based on the parks mascot, pardoes. pardoes lives as a kind of magical joker in a castle, and the whole attraction is centerd around him. at first you enter the castle for an audience with the king, pardulfus. his head lakey, punctuel explains all the rules when pardoes hops in and suggests that you ignore the boring rules and take a tour trough the palace of fantasy instead. hope i could give more context on the rides
So, Vogel Rok travels through a snake's mouth, not the bird.. The coaster is based on a story from 1001 Nights where Sinbad undertakes his second nautical journey. The Rok is a giant mythological animal with the body of an eagle and the power of 100 lions. Sinbad has been abandoned by his crew and has become stuck in a chasm where giant snakes reside. The bottom of this chasm is filled with diamonds. Local merchants throw meat into the chasm to get the diamonds to stick to the meat so that when the Rok eats the snakes, the merchants can go to the Rok's nest and retrieve the diamonds. Sinbad ties himself up to a piece of meat and he gets brought to the nest and has the chance to escape with the diamond. This is the story we experience during the ride.

At the time, The Vliegende Hollander was the most expensive attraction ever of the park, and a new concept. In the original plans it was bigger with a lot more scenes, but became way too expensive. Today they would go for the bigger version, but at the time they couldn't pay for that. But still an amazing attraction, one of my favs also.
In continuation to my comment, in case you didn’t know the story, there you have an summarized version, if you already knew the story, at least you know now how my experience was. There are more vekoma madhouses in the world (Walibi Holland has 1, Europapark has 1, Alton towers, Bellewaerde and Phantasialand). After my experience in Villa Volta I can say, if you get sick fast, keep it by an vr video.
I only have experience with three Madhouses, and the Hex is definitely _even better_ themed! The third is the 1952 madhouse at Backpool Pleasure Beach, which is tiny but still fun and of course you have to have ridden one of the originals.
Iv been to this park multiple times and after last time in the summer I want to return when I can. Story of Villa Volta. The story follows the leader of the goat riders, a gang of robbers that robbed in the area Efteling is located. 1 time they robbed the abbey of Postel. A ghostly women lays a hand on the shoulder of Hugo, the goat rider leader, cursing him. Pushed her away but she disappeared instead, when Hugo arrives at his home the white women stands on top of his house saying that he will find nowhere in his house peace. Only when a Nobel man with the conscience of a newborn child enters his house he will find peace in his home and heart. The curse makes his house rotates and in the attraction you are experiencing the curse. Iv been in Villa Volta once and the story and theming is very good but the attraction just made me sick, if I didn’t get sick I would ride the attraction over and over again (I’m Dutch so I could follow the story immediately)

Villa Volta - Hugo's Story (English Translation)
This house, this cursed house, it's like hell
That one cursed night in the Belgian Kempen
The sun was low and we sought beds for the night
But there was no trace of villages
Then suddenly in the distance, a great building
The Abbey of Postel, we were sure
We galloped our horses and when the sun was set we arrived at the chapel
There was light behind the windows and it was dead quiet
No monks chant or pious murmuring
Behind the chapel door, golden chalises and silver candlesticks for the taking
With this in mind, we rammed the door
Not a person in sight, on the altar the booty glittered
The candles were lit, strange
My men cracked the sacrificial block and I emptied the altar
And then suddenly, a slender hand on my shoulder
I looked around and behind me stood a young woman
Her eyes full of fire, all saw her and heard the ringing
She seemed to float in her long white dress
I felt a moment of fear and she spoke to me:
"Thou, Hugo of the Loonsche Duynen, thou desecrates this house
Repent now and do not call the Lord's wrath upon thee"
But I, I conquered my fear and honed her away with scornful laugh and pushed her back roughly
I ordered my men to leave and saw her disappear into thin air
A day later I reached my house, I was startled
On top of the facade, there she stood, the lady of the chapel
Her arms waved, as if she were rocking on the wind
I heard her voice, as if it floated in my head:
"Nowhere in your own house, nor anywhere in the world, will thou find rest or peace
Now thou have desecrated God's house
Only then, when a noble human with the clear conscience of a newborn child enters your house
Then shall thou find peace, in your house and in your heart"
That ban, my horrible fate, has not been broken so far
Enter with a clean soul, so that the doom may fall from this house
And my soul finds the rest I so desperately desire

“ Only other dueling gci ever built”
Gwazi weeps
Oops 😅
what they say in the preshow is
they are a group of bandits who tried to rob a holy building
the ghost of a girl appeared and cursed the house of hugo the old man you see in the preshow
now that house is haunted and it spins around
I must admid i am extrenely suprised Vliegende Hollander isnt a whole lot higher. I think that ride is sooo unique, beautiful and ghe darkride bit, while short, abselutely mindblowing and quality wise thr best one in the park.
My list
1 Symbolica
2 Vliegende Hollander
3 Joris en de Draak
4 Droomvlucht
5 Fatamorgana
(If I counted a walk though the fairytale forrest, this would be the rank)
6 Baron 1898
7 Pirahna (I suppose you didnt got to ride it?)
8 Aquanora
9 Vogel Rok
10 Carneval Festival
How in God's name is vogelrok 9???
@@lessgo5214 Its on the list because I love overall expeience of it very much. Really smooth, quite intense, with awesome ombord ardio and effects. The only thing against it is that it feels pretty short. Its at number 9 because I love 8 rides even more!
@@VillasByrne oh man... You know what's too short? Tbh every other Rollercoaster at efteling 😅

I really love how all the names besides villa volta are all pronounced wrong😂 but great video
"The only other GCI racing coaster ever built" - what about the original Gwazi?
The what??!! "vlehende hollandere"????
Boring park with boring coasters
Lol don't go to a fantasy family park if you're looking for thrilling rollercoasters lmao
You are boring leslie J.
