Steven MacKinnon sworn in as new minister of labour and seniors - July 19, 2024

At Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Governor General Mary Simon presides over a swearing-in ceremony for the new minister of labour and seniors, Steven MacKinnon.
The change to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet comes following the resignation of Seamus O’Regan. O’Regan, who has been the member of Parliament for St. John’s South-Mount Pearl, N.L,, since 2015, was first appointed to cabinet in 2017. He has said that he will stay on as an MP but will not seek re-election.
