I found this type of yarn at the store, tried to crochet it, gave up. Went to the manufacturer for a tutorial video. This "yarn" taught me how to knit!!!! It never clicked in my mind/hands before using this product. Now I am knitting with traditional yarn ! :)

Thank you so much for showing how to intertwine Each row and for showing how to end the scarf off. I watched 5 videos before this and since I have never knitted before I couldn't understand how to move rows.

This is actually JoAnna and not Zeke. I found this tutorial very helpful. I had a lady show me how to do this at the International Quilt festival but when I got home and started working on this I thought it looked wrong. I was actually doing it right :) Loved your idea of holding the yarn in your left hand...this worked wonderfully for me. thanks for your video and clear instructions!!

Found this instruction vid after messing around with a wide net yarn called "Scandalicious" from Plymouth Yarn until I nearly lost the will to live! This vid might be an oldie, but it's a goodie. Made the whole ruffle scarf thing perfectly clear. Thanks so much!

Dear Beautiful Lady .... I was given netted yarn from a friend years ago and have just now thought I should do something with it. Instructions inside the yarn band were not really helpful. Yeah! youtube tutorials!. I found you. Thank you so much. Your tutorial is fantastic. The filming is very helpful. Your hints on how-to are great! I feel I can now have a go and feel confident in getting a reasonable result. Blessings for you and yours. Oh yes ... I'm in Australia.

Your very welcome. I learned how to make these scarves from a tutorial as well, but they didn't show your everything and after making a few I noticed the beginning was so uniform, frustrated me to no end! I set out to figure it out and after many more ripping out I finally figured it out. I have made well over a hundred of these scarves and was very happy to finally make the FULL tutorial I wished I had had to learn from!

I have been knitting for quite a few years now and decided to knit this scarf when my daughter showed me one a friend of hers had knitted.
I wasn't sure how to begin, as the instructions that come with the yarn are quite confusing.
Thank you again for this video... I will be knitting quite a few more of them, thanks to your very detailed tutorial video...

I am a crocheter but with this sashay yarn I had to learn the basics of knitting and it's the only thing I knit...for now. I found that using every other loop and slightly tugging every row helps get rid of the uniform look in the beginning. And at the end of each row I start by skipping two loops for the new row. Thanks for the video!!

After working on it a little while I hold it up and let it spin out some, don't let it get to tightly spun in the middle as you work on it. But if it's still to tight try bigger needles, your yarn should tell you the recommended size.

If you can find them do so, and if you haven't gone to far you may wanna back up to grab a solid 5 that you know are connected. If it's just one you can just pick up another net as you go. But it's 3 so your scarf has a chance to unravel if you keep going without securing them

I buy it in a shop called Peshtan near the shook off Weistman and Hertzal street in kefar saba. Starbella is the american company, the kind you find in israel goes by a few different names, the ball of yarn looks a bit like shoe laces, but it's very popular and all the yarn shops should carry it.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. My Aunt made a ruffle scarf for me and everywhere I go, someone always asks me where I got that. I have tried making one myself, because I absolutely love my ruffle scarf. Here in Phoenix, AZ, the winters are not cold enough to need a big bulky scarf. The ruffle scarf is the perfect level of warmth I need around my neck. I am going to attempt to make another scarf the way that you demonstrated. It looks exactly like the one my Aunt made for me.

They have different styles coming out all the time. They used to have these Huge holes on some when they first came out lol. They have messed with the design and colors almost constantly since they made this yarn. If you have bigger holes and want a fuller scarf you could add more eyes on your needle, could mean you'll have a shorter scarf than you like so think about getting two skeins to work with to make sure you get the desired length

I bought a few balls of the mesh yarn simply because it was on sale and thought I'd find a tutorial on it somewhere. Your tutorial has been so simple and easy to understand, obviously knowing how to knit normal 'knit and purls' is essential :P I'm already onto my 3rd scarf. This works perfectly: a large T-pin ... I pinned the 4" tail piece directly to the sofa cushion. Started the scarf for the 4th time and I got ruffles right off the bat. It's almost impossible to get it with the messy look at the very beginning, but like I say in the video, as soon as you can grab the bottom with your knee, or if you can think of another way to hold it some how from the very beginning that will keep the bottom still so it twist while you work it. If the bottom is not held, it goes uniform on you.

  • @Meladora1

Most of us do, its backwards to me too lol and you know it was really hard to me to get used to at first, I almost gave up (shhhhhh) but I wasn't gonna let it beat me so I kept trying and now believe it or not it's second nature to me. It's a little weird when I gotta do regular knitting again though hehe. But it's the best way to knit and control this yarn. No worries, you will persevere! Don't let it win! :D

I have a suggestion. Instead of using straight, slippery needles, try a sixteen inch bamboo circular. Especially if you're going to put your work down before it's finished. I learned the hard way. My aluminum needle slipped out of all the stitches and I had to carefully rip back to find the last dropped stitch. Luckily I didn't have to rip it completely out as I had about two feet done, just a few rows. Bamboo will hold onto your stitches better.
