this song just shows how great of a rhythm section nirvana really had. 2 of the greatest at what they do and i feel like they never get any credit. Krist has been one of my biggest influences in music (i’m a bassist). Dave is just so creative and always in the pocket. Then you throw on top of that pat and kurt. I was today years old when I found out that this a David Bowie song. 😞. I just watched Bowie’s version which is so different, but I wanted to hear it then come back to Nirvana. "RIP" Kurt we all miss you and wish you were still here making us smile, you were one of the greatest musicians that ever lived and I just hope that wherever you are your at peace. Your legacy will always live forever Kurt you were the best to do it.
something really odd i just noticed is that in both the mtv unplugged and live and loud versions of this song, there seems to be a small feedback sound at pretty much the exact time on both times. here it happens at 1:51 and in unplugged it happens at around 1:58 and it happens right after kurt delivers the same line.

I searched for foreign land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare
We walked a million hills
I must have died alone
A long, long time ago
[Chorus]
Who knows? Not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
[Chorus]
Who knows? Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

Thank David Bowie
I envy this audience so much, having the opportunity to witness a unique moment in the history of music is priceless.
My sister was showing me some of there songs. Proud of her for the best rock pick.
I’ll never forget hearing’Come as you are’ when Nirvana exploded onto the scene. When I heard the first riffs, I remember thinking ‘wow, this is different’
Never looked back.
Nirvana revolutionised music and became an outlet for teenage angst in another lost generation.
RIP Kurt
The addition of Pat Smear and the Cello player from the unplugged was brilliant!
She toured with them regularly through 93, it wasn't just for unplugged, and I'm pretty sure Pat was always there live.
@@danielweaver4036 You mean Pat was there from ‘93 on? I just assumed he was a new addition. Kurt didn’t even mention him by name during the MTeeVee Unplugged.
@@Hogprint25yes, he did. He introduced him as "our new guitar player, Pat"
That guitar sounds perfect for that song
Kurt makes a simple chord sound fantastic and a hard chord sound simply fantastic.
Even from the different world Kurdt keeps uploading videos. Huge respect
Kurt looks so beautiful and angelic here. With the wind blowing his gorgeous blonde hair. Kurt was so talented and charismatic.
Saw them in 1993....got my kids hooked!...RIP Kurt

lockdown: why do i hear boss music
OMG 😳 I just discovered this live version of my favorite Bowie song ... what an amazing cover ... I love the scream that Kurt does at the end of the song ... this is just another reason why I love Cobain so much ...
we miss you Kurt.

LYRICS: We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
A long long time ago
Oh no, not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook his hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare
At all the millions here
I must have died alone
A long, long time ago
Who knows?
Not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Who knows?
Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world

This is honestly miles better than the unplugged version
Agreed. They’re both great but Kurt’s vocal solo towards the end makes this better imo
Kurt may be dead, but he will always be alive in his music and our hearts. May you rest in peace. We will never forget you.
The man who sold the world, is the best song that I've heard
This rock version is as good as the unplugged version. Can't go wrong either way.
for me both versions are ok
I prefer the unplugged but this one is nice to
Cant disagree I've never heard this version till now and it's brilliant

these guys saved my life, honestly, if I wouldnt've found out about this band I would probably be gone by now, I wish I could thank these three, but it's just not possible

I have never seen this version. It's very cool too
this song just shows how great of a rhythm section nirvana really had. 2 of the greatest at what they do and i feel like they never get any credit. Krist has been one of my biggest influences in music (i’m a bassist). Dave is just so creative and always in the pocket. Then you throw on top of that pat and kurt. Man this band was something special.
I was today years old when I found out that this a David Bowie song. 😞. I just watched Bowie’s version which is so different, but I wanted to hear it then come back to Nirvana. I’m sitting here with my jaw on the floor blown completely away!! Both versions are absolutely amazing!! I don’t love one more than the other. I’m angry I didn’t know this information before so I could have appreciated Nirvana’s so much more when it came out ❤️. Bowie is a legend that will be missed for years to come and so will Kurt. Gone too soon 💔
This is the best notification I've ever gotten
Arc Angels was the only 8 track tape in the car when I went on a week long road trip from southeast New Mexico to San Antonio and Corpus Christi with a friend over twenty years ago. It never got old, and I still often listen to them to this day.
It's nice getting a notification like this
1:44 the whole crowd is dead except for this one girl jumping up and down shout out to her I love this song
They were hipnotized...simple..art..
They were probably imagining being at that mytical Unplugged, or they were mesmerized by the song; I know I would have.
Its been 27 years today since Kurt died, he has been gone as long as he was alive.
